Default What is 'gallery' app and why is it running?
I just had gallery start up on its own. I did not start the app myself but yesterday my phone ran out of battery in the middle of the day. After checking the battery usage I saw that gallery was over 50% of the battery usage and about 50% today.

Why would this app start on its own???

Got it figured out.

Gallery was trying to sync with my Picasa album, which I do not have. My home isp's Gmail based email, linked to my phone, apparently updated and started trying to sync pictures to a non existent account.

The gallery app is the app you use to view the pictures and videos you took.
