Default Question about Root/Rom for Droid Charge on ClearTalk

I asked this question a few days ago in the Droid Incredible forums, similar but for the Charge:

Just switched networks from Verizon to ClearTalk. I have an unrooted/stock Droid Charge. I am wondering if anybody has experience rooting and putting a custom Rom on a Charge that has been flashed over to ClearTalk (or any other MVNO for that matter, such as Cricket). My concern is that if I root and/or ROM the Charge, it will mess with the "flash" that the ClearTalk store has done, and then my service will be down the drain.

I received some great direction for the Incredible, but since flashing/rooting is a bit different on the Charge, I wanted to ask here as well. Thanks!
