Default Does your headphone jack work?

I recently bout the Exhibit II - received it on the 17th. None of my six pairs of headphones or earbuds worked. Called up Amazon, had them send me a replacement, take it out of the box, charge it and ... the headphone jack doesn't work. On any of my pairs of headphones or earbuds.

Is it worth getting a third replacement or is this a problem with these phones?

My headphones work as well, but I noticed that I frequently press the volume down button, while holding my phone. This results in no volume on many occasions for me. I also noticed that it takes a fair amount of force to plug my headphones into the phone. Far more than my previous Iphone 3GS. If you have your phone in a case, make sure that the headphone jack is completely plugged in. I would be a little surprised if you got two new phones with the same problem!

Try it without the case and see if it works.

Yes. The case can prevent the headphone jack from completely plugging in. On my TPU case, many of my headphones would not plug in, due to the diameter of the male headphone jack. I had to use a exacto knife to enlarge the headphone hole on the case. You should feel a distinctive click when plugging in. It takes more force that you might expect!

I'm a pretty big audiophile. I've got a few thousand just poured into headphones and amps .. they all click like they should. They're definitely as in there as well as they can possibly be.

I already returned one ... really not interested in going through the process again. I guess I'll just get a partial refund since it's defective and buy something else to listen to music on.

Not sure if you (or anyone else) is still following or cares about this topic, but just in case someone stumbles across it through a Google Search (as I just have) I encountered the same issue today. I had the phone for 6 months without issue before and it just magically stopped playing audio through my headphone jack. I didn't believe that my headphone jack was completely shorted out because it still stopped playing audio when I removed earphones, so the phone's firmware was still detecting the jack. Went through every setting on the phone, couldn't find anything that might be an issue in the software.

Finally, using the old timeworn adage "When all else fails, reboot." I shut down the phone, took out the battery, put it back in, booted back up ... viola, audio playing through my headjack once again. No logical explaination. Get your your voodoo dolls.

I had the same issue. I tried many earbuds (non-oem iphone earbuds) and none of them worked completely. I could hear out of them, but the microphones weren't working with the phone. I switched to a different model earbud and both my audio and the microphone on the earbud worked.

I don't know if that is the problem, but it is clear that the headphone jack isn't completely universal for this phone. Good luck
