Well.. sorry... but I can't put mine in a Free/vs Paid category.... cause, if I want it, I will just get it. Not a good way to traverse through life... but that's me, nonetheless. So... the ones I am really enjoying are:
launcherpro-plus
handcent (just got it a few hours ago!!) a FAVE!!
AppProtector (my number ONE priority was password protecting my texts and emails... this app handles that flawlessly)
Barcode scanner (not sure why I need it.. lol.. but someone at work said I HAD to have it... ha
Beautiful Widgets
Pandora (duh.. at least it's a "duh" for ME)
Backgrounds (thousands of backgrounds to choose from)
Ringdroid (LOVE, LOVE this one.. I'm going to post something about it with details)
oh.. and Smart Keyboard.... <3 ahhhh T9 <3

In terms of top 10 free I'd have to say:
LauncherPro
Pandora
ShootMe
Appbrain
Asphalt5
Fastest Droid *
Google Maps
Titanium BackUp
Rom Manager
Handcent
In terms of paid I dont even have five paid but ESPN Radio is divine and Setcpu [which normally is paid but I got for free ] is going to be invaluable once I get some custom ROM's.
Wow narrowing down to ten was/is tough I have easily over 100 apps/games and most are quite good
* you guys have to try this one. I only DL'd it yesterday. It thru GPS is a 0-60app it also does 1/4mile and top speed. Very cool
Launcher Pro Plus (most features are free, but I had no trouble paying to support such a great launcher)
Root Explorer (useful, worth every penny, easy, and powerful)
Beautiful Widgets (didn't need it on the Droid X, but I HATE Weatherbug)
Pure Calendar Widget (absolute best calendar app/widget EVER, in my opinion)
FREE:
AutoKiller (makes other task killers looks absolutely silly - set to optimum)
Wireless Tether (awesome, but needs root)
Physx Live Wallpaper (a neat live wallpaper with very low system overhead) Google Navigator (stock on other droids, but still a fave)
Tiny Flashlight + LED (I liked the motorola version better, but it didn't use the LED on this phone)
Barcode Scanner (by ZXing Team - this is very useful when you need it)
AutorunKiller (same dev as AutoKiller - I have this specifically kill one startup process on my phone: Verizon's 3G hotspot app)
Kindle (they have so many free and cheap books. Love this app)
Google Sky Map
Dolphin HD Browser
PDAnet (for the times when I can't do wifi and need to plug in)
Battery Status Widget (on desktop for exact percent amount)
Starfield 3D Live Wallpaper (total star trek, star wars, star anything geek)
Google Earth (how can you NOT love this with the GPU on this phone???) Pandora Radio

Yeah but if we advertise that too much too many people will just mooch it but of course you are right
i bought it because i want to support future work and i figured most people cheaped out on him anyways, and guys.....anyone of you who can have a cell phone like this with the plan that comes with it should be ashamed of not spending two freaking bucks on a good program
Beautiful Widgets (paid)-weather/clock app with weather animations Wordfeud (free)-scrabble game that you can play w/other Droiders. Addicted!! **Kriss76 is my user name if you wanna play ** AppProtector (paid)-Love this!! Password or pattern lock protect whatever you want on your phone. Abduction 1&2 (paid)-probably my favorite game. Angry Birds (free for now)-just uninstalled b/c I beat the game, but when the full version comes out, I'll be buying it. Jorte Calendar (free)-syncs perfectly w/Google. Lots of different widgets as well. USA Today (free)-my fave newspaper on my phone. WYFF4 (free)-my local news News Rob (free)-lists all of the blogs/feeds I subscribe to in Google Reader Bank of America (free)-self explanatory Twitdroid (paid)-my favorite twitter app for my phone!! LOVE this one. Facebook (free)-self explanatory
Funny I made my list a week ago but if you asked me today I likely would have more than half my top 10 different. Everyday I think now I finally have enough apps/an app for everything and yet each and everyday I come across some post about an app I've never heard of. I truly wonder if I'll ever hit the bottom of the well.
Anyone know a good sports app? I've just tried SportsTap, but the process seems to be running all the time and is battery draining...
What are you looking for exactly? Just scores. Opinions, news/blog/commentary?
I of course also have SportsTap... I think its mandatory for anyone who's half interested in Sports. I have one called Sports News which is decent. NBC Sports is decent. Live Scores is decent. Of course ESPN ScoreCenter is decent. The first app I actually paid for was ESPNRadio which I really like when I need/use it.
Those are the general overall ones I use/got. I of course have team specific apps as well.
If you are looking for anything there's probably multiple apps for that sport or team.
For instance, Im into Formula One Racing and I have 3 very decent apps just on that esoteric sport.
Vlingo- Someone else mentioned this, but this voice app is great for reducing typing time. It's not perfect, but captures about 90% of what I speak into it.
SystemPanel Lite - Used to have Mini Info, but this app has so much more information for those of us who like to see what's going on behind the curtain.
Quick Profiles - Easy way to customize screen and ring/audio levels for different environments/profiles. (e.g., work, golf, quiet time, normal, etc.)
Zedge - Access to a very large database of wallpapers and ringtones. Cool. Have the Wife_Warning_4 ringtone for my wife. Always give me a chuckle when she calls.
Digi Clock - A nice, customizable clock for the home screen. But what I like best is it has an app launcher if you touch the clock. I put frequently accessed programs there, which reduces clutter on the home screen.
GPS Status - This app was mentioned in other threads as curing GPS issues with the Fascinate. It does seem to help my GPS lock on faster. However, it also has a number of other features that are entertaining/helpful (compass, bubble level, sat locations, angle level, etc.)
Always Charged - An app that sounds an alarm (of your choosing) reminding you to charge your phone each day at a specified time.
Bedside - After the program above alerts me, I plug my Fascinate into a horizontal dock at night for charging. This paid app ($1.79) turns the phone into a bedside clock with dimmable face. A number of interesting functions in this app too, plus it helps me make sure my phone is always charged in the morning.
Pandora Radio - Very cool.
Dolphin Browser HD - Tabbed browsing with much more.
where is the wireless tether app you guys are installing on your fascinate.
PdaNet Free Edition. Wired (USB) or wireless (Bluetooth) tethering to your PC. Works great for me. However, the free edition does not support https:// sites.

Yeah I burned out on Angry Birds...overuse/underperformance
DropBox is gaining popularity like a snowball rolling down a hill.

I am so digging the Thunderstorm live wallpaper - it's raining here in NYC right now and this is awesome! Thanks!
My favorite apps so far:
Battstatt - I like the text format
Sirius XM - love it
Fios DVR - I can update my DVR from anywhere, super convenient
NYC Mate - great subway map for NYC
Google Sky Maps - was in Montana a few weeks ago and it was great and showing what planets and constellations were up in the night sky (I mean who can see stars in NYC??)
Firefox - just downloaded the beta version, although a bit slow it has lots of potential
Enjoy Sudoku (free) - I have it on both my phone and ipad, very addictive
Color Flashlight - totally great in dark restaurants for reading menus (I know, I am a geek)
GG has your top 10 changed since your previous post. You always seem to find a lot of cool apps. I know my top 10 changes weekly it seems
Hi saps... nope.. haven't been doing too much playing in the market lately... basically just researching my silly obsession with my SF's lack of EMS .. lol... although yesterday I downloaded angry birds after reading "ofthedamned" and your enjoyment (or at least until you got burned out) of it.
I only have one paid app, but it's my fave!
Vignette-potobably the best photo app out there, well worth the few bucks!
Wordfeud-addicting scrabble type game you can play with friends.
s2 calendar-I wasn't happy with the calendar that came stock, this one does the trick.
bank of america-for obvious reasons
ringdroid-im a ringtone-aholic this makes it super easy to edit ringtones
That's about it for fave apps.
isn't an app but...
Also theres a site called pixelgirlpresents.com where I get my wallpapers from, even though it's mostly apple/mac some will fit nicely as wallpaper on my phone and thats about the only place I can find anything "girly". Also im hoping I can take some of the icons and shrink them down to use on my phone when I root.
The ones I use the most..
Slacker (subscribed)
Pandora
Music Downloader Pro
Google Navigator
Google Maps
Angry Birds
and Audio Blaster (to annoy people...lol)
If its free, its for me? Yeah, usually if there is both a free and a paid version the free is kinda gimped but its a decent way try stuff out. Some/most apps are only free
This thread has a lot of programs so I thought it might be a good idea to do a tabulation, hopefully with in 1 count. Messages which contributors a second set of programs not included in totals.
