Default Youtube Video Quality On Galaxy S

Hi, I was in the Verizon store yesterday, thinking about swapping my galaxy s for either a droid x or d2g because of the GPS problem and lack of froyo. Anyway while I was comparing my phone to the other two phones, I realized my YouTube quality isn't even half that of the droid x or d2g. Mine is grainy, and very low quality, while the DX and D2G it looked like High Definition and was perfectly clear. Is this just my phone, or do all galaxy S phones currently have this terrible video quality. I though the galaxy s had the best video quality so was very shocked when I noticed this.

Thanks for your help

video quality vs youtube are two different things, if you go into your youtube player, there should be a button for high quality video when avalible on that certain video, the SF if im not mistaken takes HD video and pictures, as far as the display models go, they are more than likely set to HQ video just to hook you into it lol

Yes you do have the option for high quality in the menu button. You can also use a app like tubemate and download the videos in up to 1080 if it is available. I usually watch them in 720 on my fascinate.

Thanks alot. Just tried the menu option, and it now looks like it did in the store. And to think I got so upset over something so easy to fix!

Hey y'all! First-time poster here.

I got a Fascinate 3 weeks ago, and the video quality actually was one of the main reasons I decided to get a Fasciate rather than a Droid X.

When I compared the 2, browsing was much faster on the Fascinate, either Wi-Fi or 3G. Calling up a Japanese newspaper site was a good 3 to 4 times faster. Then when I played the same HQ YouTube video, Droid X showed quite a bit of noise, like low-rez jpegs, where the picture on the Fascinate was much cleaner.

The colors, however, are quite off on the Fascinate, as have been noted many times.

This is normal since the higher quality video file is larger than standard, as a result you will notice a slower download rate, but most of the time it plays as expected (usually the initial download is slow)

Here is a link for the newer "HD" YouTube app as an apk file:
YouTubeHD_YouTube.apk - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

It's an update on the older version you probably have. Just click download, then install and it will replace the current version of the YouTube app you have.

You're gonna wanna click the link while you're in your phone's browser to download straight to the phone.

Do you need to be rooted to install this? When I click on it it always ends up saying "Application not installed".
