Gps

Hello All,

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy 551. Maps and all working fine, but I would like to know how to activate and deactivate GPS when not in use. I guess its eating up my battery. There is no icon in shortcuts as well to turn on/off GPS, like in Galaxy 3.

Please help.

Though I dont get your question,You mean to say ,your GPS is perpetually ON,Strange.
However if you dont want A-GPS or satellite GPS.
Settings ->
Location and Security ->
Uncheck whatever you want

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. But what my question was, does 551 have any key to turn GPS on/off as in Galaxy 3. In galaxy 3, in the drop down menu next to the bluetooth key there is a key to turn GPS on/off which is not available in this phone. So does this mean the GPS is forever on? If yes, will this eat up a lot of my battery?

Well it's ON only when an app access it.There is a blinking symbol you get suggesting it's on else it's off.
Galaxy 3 is a better phone,512 MB ROM and 667 MHz proc.

Thanks. Seems its to do with Android 2.2 where GPS is turned on/off automatically.
