whatsapp is not working on WIFI

Hi

I bought a new ACE 2 phone yesterday.. i have installed whatspp but it is not working on wifi ? why?

all other applications like viber tango are working..

only whats app is not working on WIFI..

should i have 3g data connection first to work?
