Samsung Galaxy Ace - Connecting to the internet via mobile network

Hi Guys,

I'm new here so hi all

Just got a Samsung Galaxy Ace last Friday. I had a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and lost it and when the insurance were due to replace it they said it wasn't in stock so I got the Ace instead. Which I have to say I am liking!

Anyways to my problem. When I'm out and about and want to check my email/facebook etc it doesn't seem to be allowing me to connect to the internet. In the first few days I could. The little GPRS icon appeared. And I know you have to be in range etc but I havent been able to do it for a few days so I'm wondering if there is a setting I can check? I would've thought if it couldn'tn get 3G it would still connect via 2G or whatever once I have a decent mobile signal.

Anyways any help greatly appreciated

Thats great it was in there! What I thought had happened was when people were admiring my nice shiney new phone someone accidentally changed a setting!

Why I can't access android market, gmail and other apps that require internet connection even I have packet data on in Mobile Network?

@sbnaul, I already did Factory Reset but I still could not access android market and gmail through mobile network with packet data on.

i can send u the .apk for the android market if u wish... just overwrite it with the one i give...
if u want it then just give me ur mail id...

NOTE: it is my first time to deal with android, so if you could answer me step by step in details it would be helpful...

Goto Menu>Settings>Wireless and Networks>Mobile Networks and disable the first option

For Wifi only just switch on your Wifi, and goto Menu>Settings>Wireless and Networks>Wifi Settings and you'll see an option there to notify you when there is an open network available

i am very bother about the settings of internet in my new mobile .
i want to run the internet by sim card in my mobile phone , i tried for it but failed as there was one error appearing again and again,
plz check the settings for connection

then i consult to ur forum and check every thing ,
the setting of my mobile is like that
menu< settings < wireless and networks <mobile networks < use packet data (tick) and then in buttom Use only 2 G networks (tick)
i tried a lot to use internet bt fail ,

a small hack trick....(if u really tried a lot)

as you did get the mob too recently,jus restore factory settings...and re insert the sim....thats it...!!!

works for sureee

PS:
as ur mob is a new one...noo prblm,,,u might not hav installd too many apps

I got the Ace yesterday and I have 1GB of internet. Do I use a connection with my wifi or do i use my phone? and which box do you uncheck to avoid being charged? Thanks guys

Hai dude,i bought d mb last mnth,n them i was totaly dumb abt it.
And my 1gb of data vaporizd in a week,coz my new mob requrird many apps to be dwnlded.
So i sugest yu to use wifi instd of packet data in the begining.

Hello,

I recently purchased Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830. I cannot access android market, gmail, and other google apps from the shortcuts on the phone. But I am able to access internet through GPRS through the browser. Whenever I try to open, eg the Android market, it tries to add a google account on the phone, asks for the google ID and password, says 'your phone needs to communicate with google servers to setup your account. this may take upto five minutes', nothing happens and then says 'can't establish reliable data connection to the server'. and i need 2 add my account 2 it ....

What needs to be done? I am able to open other sites from the phone's browser. PLS HELP I AM USING 1ST TYM ANDROID!!!!

im suing glaxy ace..ive on pakcet data n i can use my mobile internet smoothly.but all the apps like android market,and whatsapp and facebook cant be connctd..it says network error..im from india n im using airtel..but when using wifi evrything seems to be fine...

IF you have trouble connecting your mobile to the internet, try the following steps...
Settings->Wireless and network settings->Mobile network settings->Access point names
select your Access point.
check if the APN is "airtelgprs.com"
if they have set the proxy and port to some value, clear them.
Now try to connect again, worked for me.

my APN is airtelfun.com
ive tried almost everything but still cant use all apps in this phone.
but works fine wif wifi. *sigh*

for airtel user.ive email to airtel customer care. and he replied me to do this

¿Proxy :Blank
¿Proxy port :Blank
¿Username :Blank
¿server :Blank
¿MMSC :Blank
¿MMS: blank
¿MMS: Protocal: Wap 2.0
¿MCC: 404 oMNC: 92 for KK- 45 preferable/43
¿Press the Menu button again and select Save.
¿Again go to Access point and make sure that MO has selected.

well, generally with default settings, we dont need to configure again.
make sure use packet data is checked in settings>mobile n/w

hi, i hope i can get some help with the problem i have with my samsung ace phone
i bought it in april on the 3 netwrk in the uk, it was working fine then until i unlocked it to use on another network. since then i havn't been able to connect via 3 anymore, thouhg it still connect via O2 and wireless.
i have gone through the sugestions made, but there are two in particular i don't know how to do.
1. how to reset factory settings
2. my access points names comes up blank when i click on it.
i am not sure if this will help, but i am up for trying anything to sort out the problem. i would appreciate it if some other recommendations could be made also.
i tried everything from activating data packet is ticked, and also disabling wireless, but nothing works.
many thanks in advance for your help.

when i try to connect via wifi it authenticates and everything etc than it scans for a second and than says "disabled" what is this and how can i fix it?

p.s i want to connect to the wifi in my home if that helps

i just got the galaxy ace and i want to get internet on 3g. i go into settings, wireless and networks but with mobile networks, the writing is grey and i cant open it, when i click it, it just does nothing. does anyone know how to enable it to work???
