Default Icon stuck in the top menu bar

Hi all,

I have a galaxy ace and there is an icon that remains stuck in the top left of the menu bar. I have no idea what it is for as I have searched the net for it and the instruction manual all to no avail. I have attached the image as it appears on my phone. Can someone please tell me what the icon represents and how I can get rid of it?

Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums, maccas.

What happens when you drag down the notification bar with your finger and click the "clear" button?

that icon means its still reading the memory card or internal memory.

if it stays longer than 5 minutes restart the ace, i it comes up again and stays longer then 5 minutes you have a faulty sd card.

Frisco, even though this symbol comes under the notifications when I drag the bar down, there is no button to clear it so it just remains there.

Chismay, it looks like the SD card is faulty then as I did what you said and it's still there. If it is faulty how is it that I can still use it for storage etc?

if you dont mind losing the data (which is probably unusable now anyway) put the sd card into your pc find it on the "my computer" screen, and then format it (this may fix any errors) you may be able to put it back into the device and use as normal

heres a more in depth guide i found for ya

So updating from Gingerbread 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 has made that icon disappear.
