I got this answer from the Rugged Rock Studio, The Musings of Craig Lotter website:

Quote:
An easy way to retrieve your unique phone serial number, otherwise known as your device’s IMEI number is to open the keypad as if you were going to dial someone, and type in *#06#

As you hit that final hash character, a dialog containing your 15-digit IMEI number will pop-up onscreen, and as always, it is a good idea to note this down somewhere in a safe place for future reference.
Please let us know if it works for you and welcome to the forums younus khan.

That does not bring back a lost imei number, that is only to view your imei number. Now since he has lost his imei number while flashing, that trick would either bring up 000000000000 or nothing at all.

That's interesting to know ayush29k. Any suggestions for fixing yunus khan's problem? You both appear to have the same phone.

Its quite a problem here, i am not sure but i have heard of people finding their imei numbers still inside the phone using the galaxy toolbox app and a hex editor.
Unfortunately it requires the user to backup the efs partition and restore it in case things like this happens.
But its no harm in still trying it, there might still be some part of the efs left that might help. I am not sure because i have not used it since its not compatible with my model, it supports only the 832mhz cpu variants, i.e S5830i/c/m/v etc.

Accidents happen mate, you can't help it.
Unfortunately i don't have any more knowledge on this subject, try contacting the developer of the galaxy toolbox, maybe he can give some suggestion.

Unhappy regarding IMEI for all sumsung user

Dear All,
Here I have good news for all galaxy ace GT5830i user.I was also facing a same problem like IMEI and network releted issue afte upgrading jellybalst in my samsung galaxy ace phone.I was send my mobile to local service center. They hold my mobile 6 days and then told me its impossible to get your IMEI no.Someone told me u need to spend almost 3500 rs to get IMEI no.I am totally upset. Then I tried from myself to get my IMEI no.and thank god I recover my IMEI no,network and upgrade android from 2.3 to 4.1 version.

Try to follow this simple step if u r not getting your IMEI no.
1)Boot jellyblast from bootmenu(valumeup+home+powerbutton)
i)wipe data/factory reset
ii)wipe cache partition
iii)apply update from sd card(JELLYBLASTV3.0.3_Ported_For_S5830I.zip) put down in sd card)

again apply update from sd card(kernel-201211201515-E3-boot.img) put down in sd card)

again apply update from sd card (modulos201211201515-modules) put down in sd card)

then select reboot and then check IMEI no using *#06#

I think it work 100%.for me its working very very fine.

all data is to necessary to keep in sc card as its in zip format.
update 1 by one

1)jellyblast
2)kernel-201211201515-E3-boot.img
3)modulos201211201515-modules

gd luck..if u will get result please reply me.......

before doing this activity please take your all backup......

Can someone please tell me the following, as I am also undergoing the same problems

1) Is the process same for Samsung Galaxy S2?
2) are the files required the same as well?
3) Where can I find the following files to be kept as zip? --

a)jellyblast (And does it need to be ported for S2? If yes, How?)
b)kernel-201211201515-E3-boot.img
c)modulos201211201515-modules

I think this will make the process much more general and understandable to all, as right now I feel it is only for a S5830I.

My phone model is I9100 btw, if any specific is needed.

Btw, the samsung customercare says I burned the motherboard somehow and hence need to pay INR 9000 for replacement.
