Default many apologies

sorry for posting just a repeating question but i am looking for some assistance (in idiot speak if possible). I was given a gti5800 running 2.1-update1. The problem is that when i try to update through kies i get and error message saying it can't be updated. I don't understand all these different firmwares, and some of the numbers are:

Baseband version: I5800xxjg3
Kernel version: 2.6.29 root@se-s603 #2
Build number: eclair.xwjh2

when i type in *#1234# i get the following:

PDA: I5800xwjh2
PHONE: I5800XXJG3
CSC: I5800TRGJG2

am i running the wrong firmware to allow update (i live in the UK) or is there something ese wrong with the phone.

Assistance as always very much appreciated for this old man

I have Samsung i5801, all is well until few months back. Now the market does not work for me, how so ever i tried. They say Google has started 'Google play" store and here after the Market will not be working soon. When i visited to Google play-instructions they say, they will not allow 2.1 and lesser versions to enter in to Google play store. And already market not allowing me to download any apps either. Google seems playing unfair with the android users as to one has to depend upon Google only. And then, what is the point of promoting the Android/open source and all? What should i do with my 2.1 version mobile recently only purchased? Better one should consider choosing Android, if this situation prevails as such. I got fed up with these type of 'money-minting' attitude of great organisations. At the end of our life nothing we carry only the name and fame we served for humanity. Great people and Orgs to sleep over it.

Question

Hi there, I just got a GT-I5801 with firmware 2.1-update 1. Got Kies installed and sometimes, it won't show me the newest firmware.
Here is a screenshot of it:

Is there any way to download the firmware and flash it without using Kies?
