Sad Tracfone galaxy centura

Is it true that data will not work outside of your home zipcode? Has anyone tried it yet. That would be so stupid. I want to use data when I am away from home or traveling. This better not be true.

It's not true. You probably won't get data when you're on a roaming partner's tower, though.

Do you mean if I am in an area that doesn't have Tracfone coverage or when I'm away from my home tower that I am activated on?

You don't have a "home tower" so to speak.
If your tracphone uses say AT&T towers and you are in an area with only Verizon towers you are "roaming" and since you are prepaid you more than likely won't have any data but you would still have voice.
I don't know what kind of budget you have or how heavey your usage is but I would recommend you try straight talk, or any of Tue many other prepaid services out there.
