I was running into the exact same problem so i just gave up and stuck with 2.2.2 rooted and just had to tell myself that until a new rom comes out i was stuck stock. Sorry im no help
Yeah Im getting stuck here too. Im on a second hand phone, and I don't have the receipt to present to samsung, so I have no clue if I have any recourse here. If anyone can let me know if they've had any success returning to samsung without a receipt. I know you can check with the rtn code if the phone is still under 1year old.
Ive tried reflashing with 2.2.2 and basix many many times. I'm on 2.2.1 with the newest radios, and I'm encountering the same problem. It seems as though the phone is forgetting the Lte radio firmware, but if i reflash just the new radios, it doesn't work. If anyone can throw me a tar with the previous Radios, id like to flash them and see what comes out of it. I'm really getting tired of having to odin the phone twice a day for 4g to work. I've tried literally everything I can think of, and nothing is doing the trick
Likely that the LTE radio is fried. See if you can get it replaced.

Can't be. The hardware works fine. All day ive had great coverage, full 4g, the works. The phone is on stock 2.2.2 with the newest Radios. Its really hard for me to imagine its a hardware problem, unless there's a thermal shutdown on the radio that wont deactivate until the tripped condition is flashed off with an Odin flash. That's just a dumb theory, as I really don't. Know a ton about this phone and I don't have a source code, nor a means of processing it (I'm on windows). For the time being, I'm gonna sit on stock Rom and kernel, and if I can make it a week without experiencing a problem, Ill run basix, then electric sheep and see what happens
Well its been 3 nights and 4g worked perfectly, so I decided to root and install basix and electric sheep, and low and behold, 4g stopped again. Its gotta have something to do with the way 2.2.1 firmware interacts with the new Radios, so until we get basix on the 2.2.2 firmware or a tar with the old radios, I'm stuck with the 2.2.2 rom

by the way, Konane, I'm not blaming you at all. I really do love basix, and it's killing me that I have to choose between basix and 4g service for the moment. If I knew how, I'd rewrite basix onto the 2.2.2 firmware myself, but I'm just beginning the very steep learning curve
also, if someone on here who does have this problem can confirm this by flashing the 2.2.2 tar with odin and reporting back here after a couple days, then we'd know if we need a new version of basix or not. I'd hate to put any devs through the trouble of compiling a rom if i'm just experiencing a one time fluke

I have been dealing with this issue for 48 hours (barely any sleep). It most definitely has to do with when 2.2.2 switches over to 2.2.1, as my 4G comes alive with 2.2.2 stock TAR + modem updates, but then takes a turn for the worst whilst in Basix. I've noticed that a 4G signal can be obtained in Basix (running 2.2.1), but the functionality is lost over time. Sometimes my phone would go through a very brief boot cycle without warning. When this happened to my phone, probably 3 times in 30 minutes, I lost the 4G baseband. I kept ODIN-ing my phone with the 2.2.2 stock TAR, re-rooting it, installing Basix to have this 2.2.1 ROM coexist with the modem updates. Every time the phone was about to go into its brief boot cycle, I took out the battery (you can tell it will reboot when you feel the phone randomly vibrating once, then three rapid times afterward). After a while, I decided to install Electric Sheep with Basix, and now I have 4G back. Somehow, the radio updates and the 2.2.1 firmware coexists to provide 4G functionality on my phone...so far.
I wouldn't really suggest to do it the way I did, but here's what I did to end up where I am:
Re-partitioned and ODIN flashed phone with 2.2.2 stock TAR + new radio firmware.
Root phone using clockworkmod files and method.
Install Basix ROM and Electric Sheep RIGHT AFTER! (No reboot after flashing Basix)
I'm calibrating my phone battery, and cannot use it until it finishes charging. I'll update this post later if I lose 4G or not.
Sorry if this was long winded, I just wanted to share my experience with this rooting business. Hopefully this points things in the right direction.
I suggest next time trying to update the modems to eg06+ef23 on your own next time. There's no need to completely flash the stock 2.2.2 tar just to get them, as a separate modem only package/zip file exists.

The purpose of flashing the stock 2.2.2 tar is to get LTE back.
This has been my experience
2.2.2: LTE is fine
root: LTE is fine
Flash Basix+ESheep: LTE is okay for a bit... then LTE:UNKNOWN
Flash EG06+EF23 modems only: Still UNKNOWN
Flash back to 2.2.2 stock: LTE is fine once again.
Could it be that Basix just isn't compatible with the new radios?
Has anyone else been able to retain their LTE with the new radios flashed over Basix?
