You are right, Samsung india website as well they added New PC studio 1.3.0 IJ1 along with Kies
New PC studio does not support Windows 7, Kies will support all windows version since XP
I was able to install the NPS 1.3.0 IJ1 from the above link on Win 7 Ultimate edition. Had to uncheck "Mass storage only" from Settings > About Phone > Additional Storage for the phone to be recognized. However no joy with the Android 2.1 . See attached.

I wonder what it might say if your phone was running android 1.5...
It could be because the official rom is the same as the one you're currently running. Just can't wait!!
I am wondering to. But i could not find the old firmware (XXIK2). If i can find it, i will flash it back and check the results.

Samsung doesn't recommend you to install PC studio on windows 7. Kies is the right choice for win7. Are you on unofficial firmware? if it is so that may be the problem.

New PC Studio(1.3.0 IJ1) is only supporting for FUS(Firmware Update) function After your phone is updated the software(CupCake -> Elcair) you have to use Kie program, maybe not working the New PC Studio anymore You are availabe the Kies software on Samsung Web site and you can work some functions like Phonebook,Scheduler,Photo Viewer/Editor,Video Player/Viewer,Music Player by Kies
Yep, I noticed that too. Tried Kies but it is not even recognizing my phone. Can't wait anymore. Samsung please please please roll out the update ASAP.
New PC Studio 1.4 won't install under Windows 7 but 1.3 will, go figure!
Well I'm using Windows 7 too.
Just use compatibility mode for Vista SP2 (right click on the setup file >> properties >> compatibility >> check Run this program... and select operating system).

I did install in compatibility mode, but it still won't recognize my I5700, and won't upgrade the firmware. Now read this - how someone in Samsung managed to post on the official website the announcement about the firmware upgrade with such a poor use of english. Especially when they misspelled Eclair. Is this some kind of joke?
- New PC Studio 1.3.0.IJ1 (got it on CD with the phone) - didn’t recognized the phone at all
- New PC Studio 1.4.0.IL1 - didn't recognized the phone at all
- New PC Studio 1.4.0.IL5 - finally recognized the phone (link). It's for I7500 but it works. Thanks to confabber.
And now just waiting for update to become available.
Good that it connects for u but my worry is that even after the update is available we might not be able to update using this version coz I get this error when I try to check for firmware update
This device is not supported.
The device you have selected does not support software upgrade.
Uninstalled various Samsung stuff from Programs & installed 1.4.0.IL5 but I now have 2 unknown devices, CDC abstracr control model (ACM) & S3C6410 Android ADB now it doesn't detect the phone!
I've managed to get my phone recognised in NPS by uninstalling anything Samsung related using Windows Control Panel.
Trouble is, once I've plugged the phone in and it is recognised it won't be recognised again. So I then have to uninstall everything then reinstall it all again to my phone is recognised. If there is still no update available then all that installation is a waste of time as it'll all have to come off again then go back on to recognise the phone next time.
Its crazy they can't just get a bit of software that will work with the phone and get their act together and release the updated OS when its clear there is one in existence!!!!
Wrong or right this is what I think about samsung...
Poor support from samsung! There's more to come from samsung like samsung Beam. People are crazy about that coz it has some projector or so. Here, why should we count on the upcoming stuff while even the existing stuff is being overlooked like this completely? people are struggling to upgrade to the latest version still no luck! sammy dont even remember they ever released in the past something called !7500 (so called flagship android device)! poor driver support, 3-4 so called "pc suites" for the same product and mind blowing errors "the pc suite is not exist"!!! in my opinion samsung are doing injustice to android! pantheon home just suckz on spica. complete disappointment from samsung. is this how they please their customers? bad support! no matter how big the company is, if we the customers feel disappointed with product support its all useless and m already done with them PERIOD
Back to the topic...
Installed Kies fyes New PC suite old PC Suite this n that so so so blah blah blah... just everything n still NO LUCK
PERIOD .... again!

i am able to get the update started in pc studio on winxp. This involves a lot of retrying when i get error message about network problems and rebooting the phone while it's connected and pc studio is running.
After downloading the new fw the phone goes to a blackscreen with samsung logo and pc studio says updating 0% before it fails with an error message regarding the usb connection.
Seems like my computer doesent recognize the phone once it goes into update mode.
Same goes for restore mode..
I've had the same exact problems as listed on this thread. All in all, a very poor show from Samsung, why bother even releasing android phones if you're too obsessed with developing your own OS, and can't be bothered to provide support to your 'android' customers.

Can't agree more samsdroid, I've got it to say i5700(1) before which I believe means that 1 update is avaliable, but then I still cant get it to connect to the download server.
Will call Samsung shortly to find out what's going on. They put NPS 1.30 IJ1 yesterday on their DL site but since 1.40 is out I'm not exactly sure why they did it
Just flashed to the custom PDA. Runs quite fast. Faster than Original JSB. The good thing is the default home is replaced with helixLauncher, the default home which I was quite alergic to ... Lol
I keep posting this on here but no body listens to me samsung haven't released a update yet germay will be getting it before the end of march and then other countrys that what I jave read on the net

sorry i was wrong...where do you live if you live in the uk i tryed for 2 hour yesterday clicking on update and all i got was can not connect to the server

I live in Norway, i used the pc studio that can be found on samsungs website, usb debugging on, mass storage off. It's a mess of crizzap to get this to work so im not sure what i did. Tried some reboots of the pc, rebooted the phone while it was connected to pc studio as suggested earlier somewhere.
But pc studio fails as soon as it's starting the upgrade :/
And i can only get it to work this far in XP.
Edit
Seems the update worked but im still on cupcake 1.5..

all im getting is can not connect to server i think it must have gone on holiday for a few week
Im having the same problems, just retry it several times and it might work. I also get the unsupported device message if the device is called GT-5700(1) or (2). If i reconnect the usb it will usually show up without () and it will work.
I tried choosing location germany and even changing the language of the phone to german but i still cant get any updates. I guess the reason i was able to update was that it had a non standard config or old version from the store.
kies will not detect the phone only mass storage mode with 1.5 but if yove got 2.1on it will so we have got to try in use new pc studio...I don't think that its been sorted out yet for people in the uk to update that's why it will not connect to the server

Yeah, somthing tells me that I'm not going to get much use out of them. Hopefully there will be a way to get the official release by the end of this week, if not that Samsung has some serious support issues.
It's not the fact that 2.1 isn't out yet, it's more the fact that they said 2.1 was available(albeit only in Germany) but none of us have been able to get it because of Samsung's poor software and Android support.
Recently, we mentioned that the Galaxy Spica i5700*will be getting the Android 2.1 in the near future.* Well, the wait is officially over Samsung Electronics announced today that*the Android 2.1*is now available for the Galaxy Spica.**Although this is certainly great news, I should mention that the upgrade might not be available right away The upgrade will first be available in Germany, and will gradually become available in the other European markets, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Asia, Africa and finally the rest of the world
this what it says on samsung release...

Thanks for bringing great news, can you provide link to press release?
samsungrelease is not an official website. moreover this news is published (copied from somewhere) on 17-march-10
About page of samsungmobile:
Samsung Release is a small site, dedicated exclusively to Samsung Mobile news and rumors. We are hoping to turn the site into the best destination on the web for any news related to Samsung handsets and their mobile operating systems. Samsung Release has no affiliation with Samsung or Samsung Mobile.
Whenen Samsung finally (if ever!) get thier act together and release the new OS for this phone, what are the chances of it getting Mobile Flash support?
Or is Mobile Flash still in the development stage?
The Samsung Galaxy I7500 was the company's first Android phone and the Galaxy Lite will follow in its footsteps by offering a slightly toned down version of the original Galaxy. Although the Galaxy Lite has a 3.2MP Camera with no flash and 1GB ... Read More
