New PC studio is the latest version of pc studio 7. I couldn't find a newer version of PC studio 7 since august 2008. Therefore New PC studio came along with Device is the right candidate.

I have tried installing the
(1) "New PC Studio" which came in the CD,
(2) Samsung Kies which I donwloaded from Samung's support page for i5700
(3) Samsung PC Studio 7. (Downloaded from :: Mobile Exciting!! - Samsung Mobile ::)
I cannot connect the phone via any of these software. The only thing I get with the Kies AND PC Studio 7 is that it recognizes the SD Card as a drive and I can see the contents. (My Photos, etc).
I computer detects the phone correctly Samsung Android.
Any idea anybody who has connected to PC to this phone via usb ?
I cannot get the upgrade to 2.1 if I cannot connect

First uninstall your samsung PC studio& Kies then goto Add remove program and remove anything start with samsung (do not remove your display driver if the monitor is samsung :-)). If your OS is vista you can sort installed component based on date so you can easely figure out the drivers to be uninstalled depending on the date.
Download New PC studio released for samsung corby(or any new model) version would be something like 1.4.0.xxxx. Install this version and your phone will be detected.
Here is the link from where I downloaded the PC studio (under the Software tab)

Last version of PC studio 7 was released in 2008, later NEW PC Studio came. GSMArena pick this from samsung press release( they do not know what product they have), this might be a mistake in press release or I may be wrong :-)

I tried to instal:
- New PC Studio v.1.3.0.IJ1 that came with CD (also installed Samsung USB Driver Installer that came in CD and needs NPC installed prior)
- New PC Studio v.1.4.0.IL1 (with and without USB driver) latest version I could find
- Kies v.1.5.0.10024_74 latest version I could find
- Samsung PC Studio v.7.2.24.9 latest version I could find
- Samsung PC Studio v.321_GL6 (looks different than the above one)
Every installation was clean, removed many times everything from Add Remove program and the register.

Nothing works. Only as removable drive.
Have you unchecked "Settings>>About phone>>Additional settings >>Mass storage only" before connecting the mobile with your PC?
I tryed the pc studio from softpedia but it wouldn't detect the phone os installed the disc that came with the phone after uninstalling every thing again and now it detects the phone in a box that pops uk it said only function available is phone up date...the best thing to do is to wait for the 2.1update to come to the uk

Yes I have.
Also tried in Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging both settings on every install just to be sure.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, I have Windows 7 Pro 32-bit.

What exactly did you get on the disk that came with the phone?
Because that is all I need, just to be able to update the phone when 2.1 comes.
Ok, I cleaned up everything starting with Samsung & did a fresh install of New PC Studio Ver 1.4.0 IL5 (got it from Samsung India site Support page for I7500).
It detects the phone and SD Card is showing correctly however it says for I5700 only option available in PC Studio is Update. Unfortunately I am behind firewall here so unable to connect to update servers. Will try again later when I go back home.
Fingers crossed hoping that I can get the 2.1 upgrade tonight !!!!
Cheers

I went through all of that yesterday and decided i cant be bothered to wait for samsung to update either of its NPS or KIES so i flashed the latest 2.1 firmware in with Odin. Lets just say im a very happy customer! Ive only been using it today but it seems very stable. It booted in german but i changed it to english and its all cool!
Would be much happier flashing it myself now rather than a few weeks ago though as the firmware that's around is much more likely to be production quality.
Yea why not wait. I dont really know how samsung deals with their updates so i just jumped in. My fone was an upgrade so i was willing to take the risk. 2.1 is pretty amazing compared to 1.5. More home screens than i know wat to do with and theres an equalizer on the music player which ive been waiting for. Theres also a bunch of new samsung widgets. If anyone wants to know anything just ask

Hmm... I might ring up Samsung and see if they have a date yet. The fact is that I haven't even seen anyone get an official 2.1 update in Germany yet, let alone the rest of the world.

Interesting thing to note, Samsung Mobile's Singapore website now has the New PC Studio 1.3.0 IJ1 as a Software download in the GalaxySpica section, only Samsung Kies was there before. Maybe you guys should check if your region's website has them up. I find it odd that it isn't version 1.4.0 though, since that seems to be the one capable of linking up to the phone properly.

You are right, Samsung india website as well they added New PC studio 1.3.0 IJ1 along with Kies
New PC studio does not support Windows 7, Kies will support all windows version since XP
I could not find wnywhere the original XXIK2 to try with that one.
The german Samsung site also has a new PC Studio, beside Kies. I will try that one and check what it says.
Same result with SAMSUNG New PC Studio, version 1.3.0 IJ1
I wonder what it might say if your phone was running android 1.5...
It could be because the official rom is the same as the one you're currently running. Just can't wait!!
Still trying to find an official client(e.g NPC, SP7, Kies) to install the update, anyone find one yet ?
I think the update is coming through new pc studio as you can now download it from the support for the phone I dont think samsung have sorted everything out yet for us to update the phone...the best thing to do is phone them all these sites say you can update the phone this was anounced on the 17th but they didn't say when it was available to do it

The Samsung Galaxy I7500 was the company's first Android phone and the Galaxy Lite will follow in its footsteps by offering a slightly toned down version of the original Galaxy. Although the Galaxy Lite has a 3.2MP Camera with no flash and 1GB ... Read More
