Perhaps you could try this.
I have TasKiller permanently running as a widget on the desktop. Each time I run an app, when completed/ finished with that task I press the TasKiller Widget, which closes the task and continually frees up memory.
In your case, press the TasKiller Widget to stop the Ringtone.
You can exclude which tasks the TasKiller widget will close, for example I always leave GTalk and HelixLauncher running.
To exclude a task, run the main TasKiller App and press and hold on the icon of the program you wish TasKiller to ignore.
TasKiller is free, and available on the Marketplace.
