Yep. That's my point though, saying it had connectivity issue when first hand reports from BMX and P3 and probably others suggest it was pretty darned good makes me skeptical of whether those issues were above or below the norm of the Charge and other early devices. Or even if it was worse than RAZR and Rezound which I doubt are 100% either as it seems to be a bit of a work in progress as far as when and how to do CDMA/LTE handoffs.

Default ReSound issues on the ReZound phone

I have not experienced this at all. I don't use the included headphones, I have my own headphones and Beats works with them as well.

The area where I live does NOT have 4G at all, so I am always on 3G/1X.
All my music is stored on the phone.
Between Treadmill and driving, I listen to at least 90 minutes of music on my ReZound every day.

Actually, the only reason I haven't sold my Beats headphones on Ebay for $50 + is just in case I hit that 0.0000001% chance that I would ever want to return the ReZound, although I cant imagine that ever happening......

I'm fairly new to this ROM flashing business. I followed a detailed guide to root and run CM7 on my OG Droid just a few months ago.
With an unlocked bootloader you have full control over every part of your phone's firmware, including radio update installation and so forth.

All bootloaders are locked to prevent casual screw-ups by curious users. The ones that become difficult are where they require an encryption key (fancy name for password if that's a new term) to unlock it - and the maker holds the encryption key as a big dark secret. So, an exploit is a way to fool the encryption long enough to provide the freedom to fully unlock the phone.

The Nexus bootloader isn't encrypted - you just send the simple unlock command and that's that.

Folks with root and locked bootloaders end up with fewer choices when it comes time to flash things but can still get many rooting benefits in any case.

That would be two-bits. With two-bit being a slang term I am betting you could come up with something better than lick.

Wouldn't be surprised if such issues aren't even fully devices fault as infrastructure could be a bit glitchy still also in this regard.

Don't think any have been totally unreliable, just not 100%.
This is totally experience based so take it as you will. My company has 4 4G LTE hotspots that we use to make mobile connections for "away teams" on the weekends. We started with the Samsung hotspots because they were first to the market and quite frankly they were the absolute most frustrating devices I've ever dealt with in my life. They were completely unreliable in all ways, both in connection quality and the ability to hold a connection. After a few complaints to Verizon and a chat with an Engineer they swapped them with the Novatel 4g Hotspots. They are better but still not really functioning as well as tethering to my phone has performed.

It _seems_ like building penetration is worse on LTE and speed is greatly affected by signal. In my office (inside concrete/metal roof/etc) I get 2-3 bars of LTE which reads as about -88 db. Speed tests through my phone and through the hotspot come with results of around 2-3 mbits down and ~1.5mbits up.

If I step outside the building, roughly 15 feet away, it immediately jumps to about 17 mbits down and 6 mbits up.

We've tried to stream video conferences through the devices and while they are fast, they just won't seem to hold a connection consistently enough to do that. They work fine for browsing the internet its hard to even notice the disruptions but when broadcasting footage or video conferencing its easy to see. It also seems to have a pattern when we were streaming live footage in places they fail after about 29-31 minutes for about 30 seconds for the first 4 hours and then it becomes more frequent after that. So far no one has really been able to help us with "why" this happens.

We can broadcast streams on Clearwire just fine, we have to broadcast at lower quality obviously but we don't get the service interruptions.

How does the protection plan work? How much is it, and does it cover water damage or other accidental (e.g. non-defect) damages?

Ninja'd by about four hours. I know it sucks. I know some say there will be a work around. That's what they said for my D3 and Gingerbread, only work around on my D3 is a radio hack.

Probably talking about the speculation that since it is a pure google phone, the native tether in android would work. We all know Verizon isn't gonna let that fly tho. They'll give you a hotspot through the Nexus, but you're gonna pay extra for it.

It's cool, I was just pointing out that that particular page is not on testman. You can get to the same place on the real vzw site by searching '5801', clicking a result, click compatible devices tab, and the GNex is in the list.

Speaking of which, I have a question for those who have preordered VZW phones in the past.

If you preorder a phone and it hasn't shipped by the day prior to the release, do you have the option to cancel the order so you can pick it up in a store?

Yeah but there were only 2 a week ago.

At least they're assigning accessories assigned to the SGN deviceID on the website, which is really good news.

Yep. These are the reason I think it's easy to just claim "connectivity" issues are holding an LTE device no matter why you are REALLY holding it. It seems they would have to be horrid to hold it for that reason and at that point I am confused by BMX and P3 would be so impressed by it??

Wouldn't be surprised if such issues aren't even fully devices fault as infrastructure could be a bit glitchy still also in this regard.

Don't think any have been totally unreliable, just not 100%.
From what my son tells me (works VZ tech support) most if not all current 4g LTE devices have some data connectivity issues. VZ does not have a firm idea of the actual issue, some thoughts are the network or current LTE chipset, but he told me that every call he took about the Razr one day this week was a lost data connection issue.

With that in mind....if the bug that VZ is working on with the Nexus is in fact as P3Droid says has to do with better connectivity then I think its a good thing they figure it out now before they release it.
