I just remembered, didn't one of our Florida members say his mom saw the GNex on a screen at Verizon? Didn't another Florida member say he was going to visit that store to verify and take pics? Did that ever happen?
Was I dreaming the whole episode?
Wouldn't that be a pathetic dream?
Would I be banned if I said what I'd prefer to dream about?
The answer to the final question is "yes".

That was my thinking as well. But he said that he put it in his apartment to "hold" it overnight because he was afraid that it would get stolen from the office otherwise.
He is a relative of someone on the board at the building, which is how he got the job in the first place. So I see why he wasn't arrested.

LOL That was me! We are from New Jersey! And I'm not sure if he ever went over to check it out!
Ok.. went to my local corporate Verizon store. I spoke to a salesman who knew about phones. Refreshing.
Do you remember I said one Razr was hot? It was again. I called him over to ask him why. He pointed up to spot lights to show me that they were making the phone run hot.
That explains that. Still, the other screen on that side weren't as hot, but they warm.
We got to talking. The razr is really nice but he told me to wait for the nexus. After talking a bit, he volunteered that he had actually help the European Nexus as well as the LTE one. He told me that a tester had come into the store looking for accessories.
I asked him if it felt cheap/plastic-y. He said no. It was a nice feel and the screen was amazing looking. He did say he liked the way the razr looked more business-y, with the angles and such but recommended I wait for the Nexus, which was in final testing and would be released soon.
My ears perked up when he said he actually held it. He said he was going to one. We're close.
OPEN LETTER TO VZW:
Please release this phone. I can't take this thread getting much bigger because it will become impossible for me to beat next time.
Thanks, bye.
Love,
Steven
Yeah, I'm definitely going to look at both before choosing. With the Razr getting ICS very shortly after the GNex is released (assuming it IS released prior to the Razr getting ICS!), I think my decision will be more hardware based than anything.
There's nothing more important than reliable hardware. Having buggy hardware detracts immensely from whatever software is on the phone.
Maybe we should compare the dates of the images for the Thunderbolt to its release... that might be a better indicator... (PLease don't hate me if they are weeks apart)
As requested, I compared them and you will not be disappointed. The images went up on March 16th, and the phone was released the following day.
*gulp*

Aren't you worried about the enclosed battery losing it's ability to hold a charge for the 2 year contract?
Is it possible we see this thing released tomorrow??
Anything is possible but I don't think it'll be released tomorrow. I will bet on seeing something other than the sign-up page on Verizon's website very soon if these images are any indication.

I've given that consideration BUT, having physical buttons on a phone with software designed to be buttonless would likely be like mammy glands on a boar hog. Pretty useless.
No need in putting lipstick on a pig. No matter how you make it up, it's still a pig.
... It seems quite clear though the only way VZW can legally control which devices are used on their network under the latest FCC rules is if they are the primary device retailer for all devices compatible with their network.
Hmmmm. What leads you to that conclusion? FCC rules or something else?

we don't know that the new images weren't just updates to the old images. The first images could've went up in April, but the only ones we would know about are the last uploaded images.

at this rate i'll need to hire someone to make me new pants, i've gone through quite a few pairs of pants today.....on a completely unrelated note, does anyone know how to get white "stains" out of the front crotch of jeans?
Hmm... I got a question:
So I'm eligible for an upgrade on December 3rd. If (IF!!!) Verizon decides to release the Galaxy Nexus on December 8th and opens up the pre-order page, let's say tomorrow just for the sake of this question, can I pre-order it with the 2-year contract discount?
Is it possible we see this thing released tomorrow??
Yes, it's possible.
It's also possible that a race of aliens arrive on Earth tomorrow after a journey lasting 2,300 years, and upon landing their suspended-animation caskets open up and they swarm all over our planet.

If this was the case, a quick call to customer service should be able to get it moved up a week.
I think stores can even move it forward one week.

Let me quantify how badly my Droid battery has gotten. Initially I could last all day at work and then some even with heavy usage. I could stream Pandora for 4-5 hours easily with the external speaker. The phone is now 1.5 years through the contract (signed in May 2010) and I use the phone approximately 30 minutes total at work to do a variety of very short tasks that take no longer than a minute or two each and immediately turn the screen back off and sit the phone down. I get the 20% warning (sometimes it just skips it and goes to 5% warning) by lunch. Never will I own another motorola.

That's very possible. I'm sure those aliens want to get their hands (or whatever they have) on the Galaxy Nexus as well

In my mind's eye I thought it was unboxed and being used......I am good with just fired, besides its right before the holidays.

I believe that's already been addressed. Apparently the 'physical buttons' (I was never sure why they're called physical buttons when they're not really), will be given alternate tasks and have already been accounted for by both Motorola and HTC. So there shouldn't be any waste.

Well if they are the ones from the Budlight commercial, That means TWO good things are possible tomorrow

This is pure speculation on my part, but it wouldn't surprise me if Verizon, having seen the success of the most recent bug fixes, are scrambling to set up pre-orders starting this evening sometime. Sure it would be a random time, but then they wouldn't be making a liar out of Mathias Duarte and others who said you'll be able to purchase one in November. Food for thought, though I'm not at all expecting anything to happen tonight.
I do have to mention that these are fairly new. Several weeks ago there was only the front face images stored there (we might have checked ourselves). What that all means about any upcoming release is left for you all to guess, as I'm out of clues and stamina.
