You never know when Hans will snap and go out guns blazing with the occasional debatable curse word! He just wont understand what the word "darn" does to a child's eyes until he has kids of his own!
lol. This is actually true, as you can all see from my bipolar disorder.
On a serious note, I don't want to start a whole thing here, but just to let you know, I haven't gotten any PMs from Mods asking me to tone it down, be more careful, etc.
Truth is, since my "return", I've been in contact with the mods involved, and everything is cool. No one is "gunning" for me or muzzling me, and I'm not telling anyone to go jump in a lake.
As far as I'm concerned, we're the Brady Bunch again.

The last time I spoke to a CSR from VZW, they told me you would not be able to "pre-order" if you were buying the phone for full retail (off contract). anyone know about this, or was a CSR actually right for once?
I hear different answers to this but I think you should still be able to pre-order full retail as long as you're an existing customer.

In my line of work 'probation' means you have active DOC and have a hard time abiding by the law

For those, such as myself, that do not use the embedded google search.
Apologies if already posted.
P3Droid posted last week sometime that he was able to remove it from the launcher with a 2 letter edit to the manifest. I'm sure his method will be released once the VZW come out. If his method disables the search altogether this would obviously be easier but I don't know
I spent the extra buck and got it from Amazon since I have Amazon Prime and get free two day shipping with them so I should have it Monday... now only if I had a phone to put in it. At least the case will give me a good idea of the size of the Nexus in my hands.
But i wonder if these case will fit on the vzw version of the phone. I know its not a huge difference but it is definitely bigger.

And just to be clear, I was just joking with both you and the mods. As it is and was a sensitive subject I probably should have avoided it altogether so my apologies.

first couple things I'm gonna do with my nexus is disable that search bar and enable the search button on the lower keys
I use it for all my calls. I still have an Atlanta number as my primary number (for family and other VZW customers) and I give my Colorado GV number out to anyone I meet now. The Colorado number hits my phone just like any other call would and since I'm using an older version of GV I can route all outgoing calls to that one number and it goes through my F&F plan as a free call. Since we have unlimited text too, I have my GV text show up in the stock text app too. Anyone with my CO GV number doesn't know the difference.
Thanks for the info, I was going to ask about the FF thing earlier because I had heard that they changed that. So where do you get the APK for the old GV? How long do you think that will work in new versions of android?

His two letter edit in the manifest was referring to auto-rotation, "sensor" to "nosensor" (which I'm not entirely sure of what this means).
However, he has stated he has been able to modify stock AOSP to remove the search bar. I'd much rather do it this way so I don't actually lose the Google search app. When you combine this with that other modification someone else made to add the search button to the soft-keys, I'll be much happier. I'll also be looking at ways to have custom icons for the soft keys.

I agree although I don't use it often. I do use it every now and then so would like to still have it available. But having it stuck to every screen is just annoying. It works well for the Honeycomb OS because of the large screen real-estate and they hid it off to the side a bit so I don't notice it but on a phone I would get quickly irritated that its taking up the space.

I could be wrong but I believe when he removed the search widget/app he still wasn't able to utilize that space for anything else. It just removes the search bar.

That's okay with me, I'll just make a wallpaper with something fun in that space then.

I use the app because it always felt more light-weight than pulling up a browser to perform a search. And light-weight is a necessity for anything I try to do on my OG Droid nowadays
Since you can't currently re-claim the space for widgets, my main complaint is its visibility. I don't get why the removed the search button, much less obtrusive and very useful for long press actions and the like.

Yep, that is correct. I'm sure it'll come eventually though.

Ah well that blows. I was hoping that you could then use the space... well thats annoying! Oh well it could be worse... BING! lol

It's how he got the launcher to auto-rotate based on orientation.

This is for a Brand new never opened sealed in box, Galaxy Nexus 16GB Unlocked GSM, 720p HD screen, Android 4.0, there is no other phone out there like this one. Works with T-mobile, ATT, and other GSM providers around the world with 3g and HSPA+. This will as soon as the auction is over, not on December 11th like many of the other listings on ebay. I will not sell it before the auction is over so please do not ask and I will only ship within the US.

What if they were stupid enough to stick with a blackberry too long and are now stuck keeping it until the Nexus finally is released? LOL
I actually ended up dropping my Blackberry in the water a few months back and was without a phone. Sis upgraded to a iphone 4 and gave me her old Blackberry. I'm stuck with the slow, ancient technology that RIM uses until Verizon releases the Nexus. Come on Verizon, end my suffering, lol.
