I am happy to tell everyone that all final testing has been concluded. All bugs (with the exception of one very minor bug that 99% of you will never see) have been resolved and passed quality check. December 8th has been officially set as launch date (internally for now) and there are no further plans for any delays. I cannot talk about preorders however and please do not consider this at all an official announcement until Verizon says so but I hope many of you will find this helpful in your decision making.
Enjoy.

I'm just hoping for a pre-order between now and 12/7. I HAVE to order online (govt/biz account) and am going to extremely jealous with all of you picking it up in the store 24 hours before I have mine!!!!

Can you at least give us the gossip or internal speculation about pre-orders... even if unlikely?

That is what I have when I first go to the site. But if I am logged in, I get the RAZR in place of the double data. (i wonder if it knows I have unlimited...)

So if you go to the Steinheil page (Galaxy Nexus - Google - Cell Phones) There are two options. Which one should I order? The cheaper on says effective for preventing fingerprints/smudges, but it was said to avoid any screen protectors that say this. Also, it doesn't mention coming in packs of two?

If you purchased after Nov 15th you are covered until Jan 15th with the Holiday return policy.

open1your1eyes... I hope that you are as "inside" as you claim to be. Be honestly, dude... you come in AFTER things have pretty much been said all over the place and confirm what everyone else has already said (yesterday and today). The stuff that we don't know you won't comment on, like pre-sale. So, if you are legit... my sincerest apologies. But if you are not in the know, then please don't toy with people.

Not sure if this has been posted or not, and unfortunately no link to provide as I heard this on the local news radio channel today.. but another plus for the Galaxy Nexus is that none of the Nexus phones will have the Carrier IQ software on them. Though apparently Verizon states it is not on any of their smartphones.
The pure Google experience just gets better.

What is that "very minor bug"? That will completely demonstrate your legitimacy.

If this really hits the fan, Verizon will be laughing all the way to the bank. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they have their own in house software that does pretty much the same thing.

Right but do you think I return and go back to my Eris just in case presale starts 12/8 or should I just do an exchange once it gets into the actual store?

I did the same thing and I am going to just to an exchange at my local corporate store so that I can make sure there is a 0% chance that I lose my double data plan by switching back to a 3g phone.

Just hold onto it, and return it at the store when the galaxy nexus is released

The Oleophobic one (the cheaper of the two) is a matte finish, so just know that this will blur and darken the screen somewhat. On the other one (the Flex), hopefully someone can chime in—it says "All our screen protector films utilize "Dry" application" in the FAQ literally right across from where it says "The Steinheil Flex is easily installed using a solution spray and does not leave behind residue when removed." So...yeah. Not sure what's going on here.
At any rate, the one that everyone's been raving about is the Ultra Crystal, which doesn't seem to be available for the GNex yet.

That's a good call, the double data is for LTE only. You will lose it if you switch back to 3G phone.

Why are you guys thanking him? Yesterday he said "before the 13th" and "final stages of testing"... today it is "testing is over" and "the 8th".
He is just regurgitating what everyone else is saying. Notice that he has not nor will not give any information about anything that we don't know. He is just one those great "gut" people.

So does anyone else still find it strange that VZW would release the nexus and the droid4 on the same day? Is there a precedent for this? I thought the razr and rezound being launched so close was bad enough, but two major phones released on the same day? Perhaps they pushed the droid4 to 12/15 to make room for the nexus? I imagine it is in their best interest to have both phones out before Christmas, but to launch them simultaneously? Something doesn't add up!

We all should be happy if it comes out by the 15th, considering Verizon could seemingly care less about selling the nexus. I for one, will believe it when I see it in my hands, because of their attitude about the phone.
I don't look forward to going through this again 2 years from now (hopefully).
Hey maybe two years from now we'll break this thread's record!

If I'm on the RAZR right now (unlimited data - grandfathered in with my upgrade) and I return and go back to my Eris they will cancel my unlimited data?

Physical keyboard people and Nexus people are typically very different and very different demographics. It may not be an issue for them. Also, the D4 could likely be delayed like every other phone VZW puts out. VZW has not officially announced a release for that either.

I can see it. Each phone appeals to a different kind of user.

Both good points. I guess the rezound and razr are more competition for each other than the nexus and droid4 are. I just hope if they did push one or the other for some reason to avoid the simultaneous launch that they picked the droid4
GREAT NEWS (for everyone but me)! I have determined the official release date! I have just been assigned jury duty for December 12th, which undoubtedly will be the day the phone comes out now.
I feel your pain. I'm currently serving grand jury for my county. Every Tuesday for the next 4 months.

The Nexus and D4 are not direct competitors. Yes, they're both smartphones, but they're aimed at different customers.

Honestly it's been all over the place. (hard to believe I know) There is a strong sense that a possible preorder or release will be the 8th or the 12th.

unlimited lasts as long as you keep a smartphone activated on your plan. changing phones will not affect it.
