Hm. Since the NFC is built into the battery, I get the feeling we're not going to ever see an official extended battery for the GNex. Far more cost-effective to not produce two different batteries supporting the technology. As it is, I'd bet a GNex spare battery would cost about what a regular smartphone extended battery would.
NFC isn't built in, just a cheap little antenna.

My Verizon Rep called ME! Date confirmed!
Okay here's the short story: I have a rep who has hooked me up in the past, and we made an agreement...
(S)he calls me as soon as (s)he knows when Nexus is launching and I'll make sure (s)he gets the purchase commission on the phone and some accessories. Not a bad trade, huh?
I got a call on my cell phone tonight from said rep! And Launch Day is:
DECEMBER 8TH!
SO I am 99% convinced that - unless Verizon completely botches it - I have 6 days to go and I'll be holding my Beloved Nexus in my hands! WHOOT!
MY bad news is that (s)he doesn't start work until 11AM so I have to wait 2 agonizing hours after they open to buy it! Oh well, more time to play with the demo and pick out my accessories
Device(s): VZW Galaxy Nexus - rooted - ROM is JBSourcery - the best ROM I've ever used
Carrier: Verizon

Is it off topic to proclaim my love and adoration of you and all our sources?
I think it's worth it. I have never had a dock and have always wanted one. I'll definitely get the desktop dock. This phone is going to be my wireless router, music player, alarm clock and much more. I definitely need the convenience of a dock this time.
Also, sorry I have been absent lately guys. Just started a new job and got married. I keep up with the thread everyday though. Keep up the good work. Looks like we are close!
CONGRATS on your marriage and new job!

Nash - You were in the Dinc thread correct? Good to see you again and congrats on the nuptials and job. Must be hard to settle down in that crazy Nashville scene?
Best wishes to you and the Bride!

I'd like to thank everyone here who've made my wait so much....worse. With all the different rumored dates, the late night IRC chats, and awesomeness. This forum is by far the best android one I've been on. Definitely sticking to this place once we get our phone on the 8th.
Unfortunately for me, I'm going to be stuck in a Crystal Reports training class. I'm not going to be grasping any of it next Thursday....

I am waiting on the Nexus like the rest of you, but during my rent-a-rezound period I must say, this is an awesome phone. I have fallen in love with the screen and the battery life. I left the house at 9am this morning and 12 hours later I am at 60% w/ light facebook and email checking. Granted I turn 4g off, this is still amazing. Too bad I have to leave it for my lovely Nexus.

Chief - thank you! This may call for another drinking night.
Also, I was just at Best Buy looking at everything other than phones, but had to wander through the phone section to get anywhere. So, I figured might as well ask about the Nexus. The sales rep said "yea, a lot of people have been asking about it, but I don't know when it's coming out. They keep pushing it back."
Well, glad to hear that we have as official of a date as ever, but I find it interesting that he chose to say "they keep pushing it back." Implying there was a release date, and it got delayed. Too bad Verizon will stick with their "we didn't announce a launch date" defense and never own up to actually having delayed the phone this long.

And just checked mine... Thursday is one of a few days a week i work, but thankfully I have a pretty relaxed job at the moment, so I will be calling in late due to Nexus!

wondering if just keeping the battery in your pocket would work? =)

I'm using a case like this one for my blackberry and I love the ease in which the phone can slide in and out. The magnetic closure still works well after all this time. I'm hoping to find something like it for my Nexus so I can keep it "naked" when I'm actually using it but still not worry about throwing it in my pocket with my car keys.
Whoa, whoa whoa. What the heck did I miss that we're now happy about a December 8th release?
Glad to know this wait will be coming to an end soon
Wait, I'm pretty sure I said that exactly one month ago...
In other news, I'm confused about the Transformer Prime release date. Is it the 12th or the 19th? I was gonna preorder it today but I want to know that it won't be shipped to me while I'm out of the country...

Hail to The_Chief! Thanks for the nice update.
Any word on a pre-order date?
Bags, I have to be at work that day and my bossifer doesn't take kindly to slackers. I'm not sure if I want to risk trying to go to the Verizon store near work at lunch, they always busy with the yoga jetta moms. Might be time to place a call and book an appointment with a sales rep.
I know I'm usually the one who voluntarily stays up late every night waiting for a pre-order online, but judging the past, oh I don't know, MONTH, I would count on another stupid dumbphone sale occupying the space on the home page where the 3 day websale currently is... Just sayin'.

i had to come say thanks to the chief personally. i live near boston and growing up robert parish for the celtics was huge, his nickname was "the chief" and our the chief is in green also. anyway thanks again chief and i know with other pre release threads we usually get a leaked accessory list with part numbers where we can usually order in advance, these havent been dug up yet have they??
Nash - You were in the Dinc thread correct? Good to see you again and congrats on the nuptials and job. Must be hard to settle down in that crazy Nashville scene?

Yes, I was a big part of the Droid Incredible thread, previously the HTC Passion, for those of you who remember. HAha I am posting this from my Incredible, which is soon to be replaced by a finally WORTHY succesor after hanging in there and being patient, the LTE Galaxy Nexus.
Thank you on the congratulations. I actually moved away from Nashville, Tennessee to South Texas a year ago where I met my amazing wife. We have been married for three weeks tomorrow. My first marriage. I will be 30 on the 14th of this month. So, I was actually very picky and it paid off.
Congratulations everyone. Hopefully we will all be celebrating soon!

@PydePypper:
Gonna post pics of Nexus battery stats test from today. Was on Wifi all day except for my drive into work when I stream Pandora for 45 mins
This needs to be put into perspective for people. When you are on wifi, your 4g/3g data radio will not be active. Only the voice radio will be active, aside from wifi obviously.
Depending on how much this guy/girl used it, which judging by the OS being the top it was used a bit. It doesn't look like there was a big battery hit the 45 mins they were streaming stuff on Verizon's network (non wifi) which is good. So this seems like a good test for the days you stay at home all day on wifi or for those who do use work's wifi.
Personally I don't connect to work's wifi because their internet is slower then Verizon's 3g. Alsomy office is the only spot in Princeton that Verizon gets a good signal... "it's the network", what a crock! I get crappy service in my house, and spotty service on 20 miles on I295 to work. I'd switch to AT&T in a heartbeat if I could get unlimited data.

I'm glad this phone is finally coming out, but the 8th is going to make finals tough on me. I have one on the 8th and one on the 9th. Verizon has still found a way to mess with me.
The Galaxy Nexus is the third official phone contracted by Google and the first phone to come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Specs include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, a 4.65 inch 720p HD Super AMOLED... Read More
