If Steven is sporting a DX and got THAT emotional over the Nexus, how many of us OG Droiders are going to flat-out FAINT when we go get it?

VZW Rep: "I'm sorry, Chief, but we sold the last Nexus in the store while you were passed out on the floor..."

Me: (passes out again)

Default No pictures synced to our contacts? That stinks

I heard Facebook does not work very well with ICS yet and that Facebook sync does not work with contacts ? I like having that feature on my contacts.

I may be wrong, but I think it's because Facebook isn't ICS ready. Blame Facebook. Use Google+

Question Question about setting up Nexus and apps?

When I first get this Phone, how do I prevent it from automatically downloading all my apps from my previous phone? I want to manually download what apps I want on this phone since I hear a lot still don't work and there are a bunch I don't want on my new phone. Thanks guys

Hey All,

First time poster. Been lurking about a month waiting for this phone to come out. I currently own an Original Droid that is barely clinging to life. Can't turn it off without removing the battery and have to turn it on by plugging it into a charger. The power button is completely depressed into the phone.

Steve I have two questions:
1) I have tiny hands for an adult, will I have a problem holding this phone?
2) How fast is the phone?

Thank you all so much for the updates and this thread. It's been a fun read

you may be the only person i have ever heard who WANTS facebook to sync contacts. i cannot stand that feature, i hate having 800+ numbers in my phone i am seldom, if ever, going to use. my sole reason for only using FB through the browser is to avoid the sync. At least it's not as bad as it was on BlackBerry where it synced every single birthday to your calendar and set off a reminder at 12:01 AM.

I'm pretty sure Google went out of their way to make sure it wouldn't work with Facebook right away. Doesn't mean that they haven't opened up the API so that Facebook can make it work, but I'd lay down money on it being an intentional Google+ strategy.

Hi Tuesday and welcome to the forums!

To answer your question about fitting your hand, that's an easy answer: only you would know. Steven said it's no bigger than a Droid X, and the extra screen real estate comes from a lack of physical buttons and reduced bezel.

I think you'll be fine, but you will certainly want to go to the store and hold it awhile before committing.

Welcome to AF Tuesday! You'll have to decide on the size for yourself. Fast is subjective but have you seen any of the videos on the GN? There are a lot to see

Best I can do for a location guess is a mall where you have go up an escalator from the following coordinates -

Lol yeah, that was my because I agree. It's tough to join a new social network when no one is using it. I think there are some third party Facebook apps that will sync contacts ie friendcaster? I could be wrong.

Yeah - not to be a Google fanboy, but I'm not having it.

One of the first big things we face in forum after forum for people new to, or upgrading, Android phones is how to make FB contacts work this time.

I've seen MANY threads with the same questions - FB stopped syncing - FB is duplicating contacts - FB contact pictures are fuzzy - FB contact pictures took over my personal contact pictures - I wanted to use FB on my phone, but I never wanted it to sync my contacts, how do I turn that off - and probably as many other issues that I can't call up off-hand.

I've seen lots of people say that HTC Facebook works well - and others say that it works better, but not well.

So - if FB is forced to do something to end that nonsense with ICS, I don't think it's a bad thing.

Can someone please help me understand what people/reviewers mean when they talk about the "build quality" of a phone? I recently watched a youtube comparison of the GN and 4s (link included below, part I'm referencing begins around 1:00) and was sorta surprised when he praised the 4s build quality and said that Samsung needs to work on improving that... so:

1) Is build quality objective or subjective?

2) If build quality is objective, how should/would it be measured?

3) If build quality is subjective, what would everyone here think would be the most important aspects to keep in mind?

For me, build quality has always been a combination of durability and Quality Control (lack of defects), but it seems that I may be missing some aesthetic measure of build quality...

Not sure if this has been posted already, but lookee here, we'll be able to control our home with our Nexus. I selected Galaxy Nexus, and it says "compatible with your device." If only it were my device...

Facebook has been broken since Gingerbread in concerns to the api that allows for the sync of contacts. Other apps allow it to happen, like the HTC facebook app if youre skinned but it's on Facebook to fix their app not Google. The api in Android works fine.

No worries - the mental picture is awesome!

OK - edit your post - go to the Advanced button at bottom - find the paperclip icon at the very top of the post-edit window - use the tool there to browse over to the picture and attach it for our viewing pleasure.

1) Comments made after a few hours of use are certainly subjective.

2) refer to above comment, objective comments cannot be made in such a short time. a much longer period of testing over a much wider number of devices would be required for anything meaningful. durability and quality control are what i consider to be "objective" measurements as well.

3) i want a device that feels solid, weight is important. i don't want a creaky battery door, loose volume/power buttons, etc. my "subjective" test can be concluded with one question... how would this device fare if i dropped it right now?

dont quote me on this but going between different versions of android breaks the restore. my wife went from bone stock Inc on GB 2.3.4 to her RAZR with 2.3.6 and it wouldnt restore her apps.

Only if Thursday turns out to be the day (it's rumored to be Friday by Kellex's sources) and only if I can't get it to my house before Thursday via an online pre-order or something.

Might be a good day to play the "work from home" card

EDIT:

Or maybe be at COSTCO when they open?
