I'm not sure. It would be very cool if so, if nothing else once I get a the nexus 5 in 2 years, it would be nice to still use this phone at home, on wifi.

Second store I called and asked if she has heard anything about a Galaxy Nexus release date and immediately she started laughing followed by a "No, we have not. Sorry..."

Ok so here's my conclusion.

My state - New Jersey - is garbage and isn't getting any Nexi ever so the stores there know nothing (reasonable right?)

Everyone else is getting them on Thursday or Friday.

Preorders Start at midnight tomorrow after a PR announces them either later tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

Boooooooooooooooom.

I have a (very) dumb question about corp stores. I assume that these are the stores in the VZW store locator on the tab marked "Verizon Wireless Stores", and not All stores.

I noticed that some of the VZW stores tab are kiosks. I guess I'll have to start calling closer to release day to see which have the gnex.

ANTHILLS, MOUNTAINS. GAH
i think the point you are missing is that the leaked pics already show a sleeve. the pic to the far right, with the GNex in it, is the bottom half of the box. the pic to the left of that, with the outline of the GNex, is the top half of the box that fits over the bottom half. then, furthest to the left is the white sleeve that fits over the entire box.

i think the point everyone is making is that it doesn't make sense to have a plain white sleeve, as is shown in that pic. and, your explanation also doesn't make sense - a second sleeve, with the printed logo, to slide over the plain white sleeve???? maybe the printed logo sleeves are being shipped separately and will be substituted for the plain white sleeve at the retail stores, but that doesn't make much sense to me... idk...

edit: open1your1eyes cleared it up...

no this phone is the retail phone

EDIT: if you look at the top of the box you can make out "zon" very slightly about 1/8 of the way down. I changed my mind and say this is the legit retail box!

Um, no. If it had embossing, we'd be able to see it.
I thought there was a small irregularity in one of them on the top....i'll have to look again

Edit: there's a little something there, but impossible to tell anything if it's anything significant

I called the Citrus Park store and the rep did indeed tell me the 9th for the G-Nex. Then I called my store (I stay in Atlanta) and they said they didn't have a date as of yet. I'm hoping for the 9th!!

Welp none of the stores here have a clue other than "this month." The Rep I deal with directly is supposed to call me when he gets a demo unit in, which means as of now, they have no demo units. Bleh, I'm betting it's going to release in bigger/already 4G markets and then release here so I'm probably looking at a week to two weeks if I'm lucky.

Just went down to the Verizon store next to my building. They don't have a clue when the phone is coming out, but they do have lots of accessories. Ugh!

I bet by the end of their work day the VZW CSRs are going to be sitting in the corner with their hands covering their ears, rocking back and forth muttering to them selfs, "please.... make it stop!"

You can actually make out the zon in verizon in the pic if you adjust the levels. This might be the retail box.

I'm thinking that a lot of the corp store CSRs are too lazy to look it up in their computer system, and are just saying "no release date" without even looking.

Called four Verizon stores in my area. They all knew about the phone but had no date for it. I think NJ is just not getting this phone.

Nope - everyone has just called up, placed their order, and will be forking over ~$5,729 for a phone come Friday. We are sheep, hear us BAAAAH.

Adding my voice to the chorus, I tried my luck calling the three stores closest to me in Montgomery County, MD. All were very polite but had no information. One "we thought it'd be out in November but I guess it was delayed. Maybe check back in a week," one "we have no information" and one "any day now!"

Disappointing, given others' apparent results.

you're a lawyer, so be precise:

For the record, you don't actually take meds. Whether you actually need meds is an open question...

thanks for the info!!

i think the point everyone is making is that it doesn't make sense to have a plain white sleeve, as is shown in that pic. and, your explanation also doesn't make sense - a second sleeve, with the printed logo, to slide over the plain white sleeve???? maybe the printed logo sleeves are being shipped separately and will be substituted for the plain white sleeve at the retail stores, but that doesn't make much sense to me... idk...
or another box... -_-

Man, some forums are sad. The guy on XDA posts the very first pictures of the retail box ever seen, and he gets 19 thanks?

Steven posts he's going to be finishing dropping his latest deuce soon and he gets 50!

Do we seriously think the reps are just telling random lies to random callers? Why does anyone need to call and verify anything? Leave the reps alone. People calling 8 different stores to compare stories, shame on you. You're making the reps day hectic and it's not going to get you anything in return except more rumors. Someone said they had already reserved a phone at a store so they declined to reservation offer at the alternate store they were calling. Why call another store and waste their time if you already have one reserved?

Just wanted to post something concrete for the phone today -- there is also an LTE version in that thread too! [KERNEL][4 DEC] franco.Kernel | GSM/LTE | CIFS | USB HOST | OVERCLOCK | VOLUME FIX - xda-developers

Overclocked, USB Host support, etc!

Quote:
Changelog:

4th December
  • Volume fix added
  • Now it boots with 1,2ghz instead of 1,4ghz
  • Cpu frequencies transition decreased for faster scaling
  • While screen off the device is capped at 350mhz

3rd December
  • Updated to 3.0.12
  • CIFS added
  • USB Host added
  • Readahead values changed - kernel automatically chooses the best value for optimum performance
  • SLQB memory allocator added and made default
  • Overclock up to 1,4ghz added - full credits to coolbho3000, it was his finding, I just compiled the kernel

2nd December
  • CFS Autogroup tweaking
  • CFS tweaks
  • CRC32 library completely updated - it's a very important library
  • Second core min/max frequency bug fixed - now both cores run at the desire speeds. Before the second core sometimes forgot it's speed and was asyncronous to the first core
  • Conservative tweaked again - it's still the default governor and it's meant to be
  • Cgroup: speed up access to cgroupfs mounted entries in /proc/mounts
  • Add Arm Ticket Loss for improved system stability
  • Introduced some memory copy marcos and functions - better memory efficiency
  • Added Arm CPU Topology to increase Multi-core and Multi-threading efficiency
  • More small tweaks and optimizations

----------------------------------------------------------
  • GPU overclocked to 384mhz
  • Removed a lot of debugging
  • Compiled with the optimized Mjolnir compiler with special cflags
  • .config tweaks to improve multitasking, responsiveness, battery etc
  • dirty_writeback values tweaked
  • Improved IO speed
  • TCP improvements - pages will load faster and lighter using wifi or 3G
  • Conservative governor tweaked and made default

Lots more...

Same with my three local stores. Figured it'd be worthless, but I had time to kill to phone them before a meeting.

Figured I would join in the fun of calling my local store. Called the Gunbarrel Rd. store in Chattanooga and was told the last they heard it would be the 8th. Unfortunately no reservation or waiting list, just first come, first served. I am more and more optimistic that I will have a Nexus in hand by the weekend.
