Didn't we establish a few weeks ago that it has something just as good as gorilla glass? Or was that unsubstantiated? I'm a bit weary of this, because I prefer not to have a screen protector on mine. The dinc has gorilla glass, right? All I know is my dinc screen has help up very well. I'm hoping the nexus' screen will as well.

I'd remove that pic if I where you. You posted your tracking number and a quick internet search of your screen name yielded your first and last name. I'm sure if someone wanted to they could get more info and change the delivery address with UPS. I don't think anyone here would do something like that, but just remember to be safe.

PURE SPECULATION:
You know, Samsung's newest marketing concept/line is STOP WAITING - the commercials are going up against people waiting in line for the Apple store to open at 9AM. It therefore makes PERFECT sense to do a "soft launch" - avoid the massive crowds and lines by not creating them. Verizon remains silent, and therefore we can all simply walk in - NOT WAIT IN LINE and get what we want.
Really, a very unique approach at marketing...never say anything. No major announcements, no DOORS OPEN AT 9AM - just simply start selling the phone.
Then, after the holidays, start with a campaign, and hit the masses - boost your 1Q12 sales numbers as needed.
Smart, really. BUUUUT, not at all what we, as consumers and what the bloggers and certainly not what the CSRs are used to.

Planogram in retail refers to the way products are displayed. They get specific designs. For example, that's why all Best Buys are very similar...they follow the same planogram for products. So what they are saying here is that their display design will be loaded to their internal system so that stores know how to set it up properly for display.
Quoted in agreement.
When I worked at BBY we would get new plano's for new releases (Movies, games, CD's, as well as other items) Sometimes we would get them for just changing things but they usually refer to them as a store reset but you still received a plano as a "map" of where things go.

One example of the absurdity- he lists the Nexus as having fortified glass yet he says this:
"Both have the same display, while the Galaxy Nexus is lacking a Gorilla Glass display, making it more prone to scratches which really hurt any device owner in the long run."
Umm, okay!?

Can't wait to upgrade my droid incredible to the galaxy nexus!
There real question is who in this thread will be first to get one (ie., they know a senior sales rep or manager and they "bend" the rules and sell them one). Happens all the time, so I hope someone here will be able to pull it off. I know I'm going to try both of my reps tomorrow (though I don't expect to pull it off).
I remember a few weeks ago someone said "When it's actually getting closer to the real release, we'll get a bunch of leaks all at once like e-mails, and pictures of the phones in retail packing, etc. etc." It looks like it may actually be happening now. I'm still not getting my hopes up, because it's still Verizon.

I was browsing SGP's (Steinheil screen protectors) website, and found this interesting tidbit for those of you who ordered the Ultra Oleophobic screen protector (and anyone else holding out for one of their other protectors).
Q)
Why is the screen protector cut smaller than the screen size for the Galaxy Nexus?
A)
The Steinheil Screen Protector is made smaller than the screen size due to the curved contours of the device's screen. Screen protectors that utilize a dry install can only cover the flat surface of the screen. This is to ensure the screen protector will adhere to the surface without bubbling at the edges of the screen protector.
I'm curious how much smaller than the screen these protectors really are?

For some reason it made me think about the movie Signs...
Remember how they found the crop circles and then saw the ship in the sky and then it slowed down. Then the night of the attack they appeared again and all crap broke loose.... yeah this reminds me of that lol

I'm under two impressions on the 'Orders will ship 12/6' piece: 1.) We can pre-order tomorrow and those pre-orders will go out the same day OR 2.) The phones themselves are the 'orders' going to VZW stores.
I was stalking the VZW smartphone site and got sniped by a CSR... I thought 'OMG This is IT!'... Lily has no news.
Disappointment at the stroke of Midnight, something we all should have learned from Cinderella when we were kids.
Maybe midnight central will be better, but, I'm out... for real this time... PM if verizon launches a "free nexus to the first 100 pre-orders" campaign.
What do you guys think? I wouldn't be surprised. If this happens I bet a ton of people are going to be upset until people start finding out they can just go to the store and buy it on Thursday/Friday.
I Dunno...I heard from someone in this thread..I think it was eyes-something sorry can't remember (he's a Verizon guy) said that corporate is actually really excited for the Gnex, gonna be a big campaign! So, soft launch, maybe but I think we are more likely to see a big splash. In any event, we know its soon due to all the leaks!
Home stretch guys, its been a crazy ride on this train, Friday we all roll into the station, and we will say our goodbyes to each other. Then the best part, we finally get our prizes, oh its gonna be a great Friday!!

The more I look at my DInc the more I hate it...I want my new phone!
I still am partial to mine. Have been running ICS for a while and although not completely ready for a stable daily it runs awfully well on this old Inc. Really been a great phone. I want the GN too.

I believe it's option 2. The order referred to is the UPS order arriving in super secrecy at Verizon stores.
