I laughed at this hands-on when he tested the "4G speeds" while connected to wifi.

Rooting is like getting admin access on your PC. By itself it changes nothing about the experience.

Please see my posts and others in the discussion on the previous page for answers to your other questions.

I noticed a few weeks ago before I even became a member you said something about high desert... then I noticed you live in New Mexico. My girlfriend lives up in high desert.

Oh shoot....I don't know. I am not familiar with their terms when it comes to replacement phones, but I would bet that they would know about the insurance replacement if it came through them and would not accept it.

Good Morning GNexers! I see I just missed some more document/email leaks last night. I am a little disappointed about Friday, I work a M-Th schedule, and I had saved vacation for it, and rearranged my carpooling schedule so I was driving on Thursday. Friday I get paid OT when I work, and obviously can't use vacation, so will not get paid for any time I take off to get the phone. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers. I am just happy to see it is only three days away, and doesn't look like its moving. Will call my local VZW store and see what's up later.

WOW... I'd be pretty upset... Only a few more days. That's exactly why I bit the bullet and bought a cheap case for this thing.

With all the info about a possible launch this week I decided to attempt to install the Android SDK and get ready to at least unlock the phone once I get it. I have an hour or so before work so I hope this is not too complicated.

So some interesting tweets from Droid-Life last night. I wonder how true it is that all the Verizon bigwigs are using the Nexus over say the RAZR. And Kellen suggested that the reason that there won't be much advertising is because they feel it won't need any on their part, we will do it for them. (we being the tech community).

I'm so happy to finally see a confirmation. I've got Friday off (was planning it anyway), so I'm liable to be at Verizon when they open. Can't wait to get my new Nexus in my grubby left paw.

YES! Can't believe I didn't think of this earlier. I've been trying to figure out how I can get out of work for a few hours when this finally does launch. I feel like an idiot!

Also, are there supposed to be TWO pics of the retail packaging in the OP? One seems to have a broken link. Can anyone link to the original? I'm also assuming that the boxes in the background are all Nexus as well for this particular store (these ARE stock in a store right?), so there SEEMS to be a decent amount of them.

As much I want this phone and I have been waiting patiently for it, the more I read the more I have doubts. This phone no longer seems to be the vanilla pure android experience that this phone should be. With the addition of VZW bloatware and the blocking of Google Wallet I am wondering how much pull VZW has that they are able to make changes on a Nexus that the other carriers have not.

BTW 3rd shifters rock!!

If I recall correctly Sprint had a few apps loaded on the Nexus as well so this is not unprecedented. I already installed and checked SDK and unlocking and rooting should be a breeze (now if there is any encryption then I will be upset). Even without root we can disable those apps at the very least.

Besides, what are our other options if sticking with VZW? This is the best we can get at this point in terms of pure android on VZW and I highly doubt that there will be anything similar anytime soon. I'm really looking forward to this.

Good morning everyone!

So I've officially gotten SICK of all the hide tags. Can you guys please put a simple two word description of what you're hiding before the tag?

I see a whole bunch of hides from BB and others, but I don't know if I want to read them or not. I'm probably missing out, but I don't want to click a million buttons.

So I guess the OT poll was useless, huh?

What bothers me is if carriers can make changes to the Nexus then it is no longer pure Google and no different then the hundred of other android phones.

These seem to be warehouse pics, not in-store stock.

According to the leaked email, they will be shipping to stores today.

It's on the front page. Basically a screen shot of an email that says it's confirmed no sale until the 9th.

Direct updates from Google make it plenty different from the hundreds of Android phones. You'll see.

Besides being the only device without a manufacturer UI. Between that and the Google updates I am totally satisfied. The changes made by VZW are just apps and not changes to the UI. I for one am not too concerned with that at all.

Damn... pic didn't look very "Warehouse-y" to me so I was just hoping it was from a store. I would think they would be palletized and shrink wrapped in a warehouse.

I think a lot of us want to root so we can do nandroid backups and use titanium for restoration of apps and their data. Not so much because of wanting to change ICS. IMO

any tips and tricks for a newbie? and my only other question is- with the nexus, unlocking the bootloader is akin to rooting right? will doing so alter the ICS experience in any way? i want to experience the ICS that everyone is raving about but i really want to be able to tether.

thanks in advance!

Yay for another south paw! (except I actually use my phone in my right paw)

Gooooooood morning sexy Nexians! Will tasty Tuesday bring us official ice cream sandwich info from verizon? I surely hope so. As always let's remember to play nice - the sandbox is for everyone and when you kick sand at others it hurts.

And for those who weren't up late last night, there is a lounge thread started for after the inevitable locking of this most awesome thread. And the bonus is that because it's the lounge there is no reason for hide tags.

One person last night was at a store and they brought a phone out of the back, so it COULD be from a store.

Just woke up, saw there's word of a definite release on 12/9, and possible a soft release on 12/8. At this point, is a pre-order not likely? Should I be calling up my local VZW stores and seeing were I can be Thursday or Friday morning? I haven't bothered calling yet since it seemed pretty useless, but now things seem to be changing a bit...

Anyone else think that Verizon corporate stores are saving the 8th for themselves? I just have a feeling that they aren't going to let a Thursday go by without a launch.

I have to wonder if the 9th is real then where is the official announcement? VZW really sucks at marketing.

I won't Believe it until VZW makes the announcement to the public... We've been let down too many times so far.

Not trying to be a pessimist, just realistic.

I have to agree. Changing the title of the thread? Really? Its not confirmed by any means until Verizon comes out and says it. Could the leak be legit? Sure. But, based on all the leaks and what not before, it certainly isn't confirmed.
