Hello everyone, I have been following this thread daily since late September but this is my first time posting. Like everyone else I have been waiting for this phone for quite some time as I am read to make the jump from my blackberry tour.
I just called the VZW store in livingston NJ and I spoke to sales. I told them I was interested in purchasing the Galaxy Nexus this week and I wanted to know what day they would begin selling it. Her response was " The release has been delayed, it is no longer being released on the 8th." I asked her if she knew what date and she said she hasnt been told yet." With that being said I did not mention the 8th SHE did. Lets all hope for the 9th..

Aww I dont have any corporate stores close to me then. Can I assume the premium retailers receive stock after the corporate stores or is there not telling?

There seems to be a little confusion about the exact date. Is it the 8th or the 9th? Cincy's rep said the 8th, but is that a hush-hush early deal?
What I mean is, when should I be going to stalk my local corporate store?

"Authorized retailers" have to display something saying that in the front window. Corporate stores are usually large and have "Verizon" displayed very prominently.

Most of the time they receive shortly after. Sometimes they'll have it on launch day. I don't understand the how's or why's though.

Probably with the state Attorney General office, but doubt they'll do much. I presume it'll have to be pursued by the Fed Gov't to get anything done (antitrust violations.)

Seriously I don't know why he doesn't have new contract . The offense as a whole is pissing me off . here's a random question - my phone is in my girlfriend's name because she gets a monthly discount through her job. i'm on the account as an admin, and it's my address on the account (we live together), but the actual account is under her name and SSN.
if i'm able to get them to move up my upgrade date (currently 12/29) so i can go into a store and get this thing on friday, or pre-order and have it shipped to me, does she need to be there with me or am i alright since i'm an admin on the account? this is the first phone upgrade i'm doing since switching my account into her name...

There will be tiny words under the verizon logo that say authorized reseller (or something similar) for the non corporate stores.
I've also recently learned that if they have a tech department then it's a corporate store. (that's what the sales guys at the one in Butler said anyway)

Just left my Verizon store and he kept mentioning the 11th for pr-order and launch Monday. He kept saying the 11th even when I mentioned the 9th.. Who knows...
Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase apps from the android market prior to having an android device? I want to cash in on some of the 10 cent apps today but I'm not an android convert until Friday.
(Why am I having such a hard time getting people to take my money during this whole event???)

put in your zip code for the one closest to you. They only list the corporate stores, at least here in Pcola. There are a bunch of authorized retailers but only 4 stores listed and there corporate. I'm finding there is a big difference. especially in price

I was under the impression that the ones that first show up when you do a store locator search were corporate. When you select "All Stores", retailers also appear. Then again, there's BJs kiosks listed under the main returns, but then AGAIN, I don't see any Costco. So maybe BJs kiosks are considered corporate?

I was planning on hitting up the Paramus store on Rt 17 on my way to work. I guess that's probably crazy to your point. I bought my OG Droid at GS Plaza at 4pm on launch day but I don't think I can wait til after work this go around :-).

Just talked to the BJ's store that is most convenient for me.....they have a demo unit, but no stock yet and no release date. I, unfortunately live 2 hours from the store (heading in town Friday night) so I can't go see the demo. Anyone in Richmond, Va want to head over to BJs????? But it does seem like the is the first time I have heard of a store with a DEMO!!!!!

Stay faaaar away from 17 during rush hour! So far I have called livingston and union.

Ok guys, I was starting to get really skeptical. I called 2 of the stores nearest me and even told them I knew some stores had them in stock and was releasing Friday and they wouldn't crack. They said they knew nothing.
Called the 3rd store which is probably 20 miles further away but not far from where I work and the woman on the phone confirmed they do have them in the store right now but could not sell till Friday. I asked her specifically if they had them in the store and she said yes without hesitation and said that they could sell them on Friday and no sooner. Even asked if I could convince her to sell one early, she said no. All in good fun of course. So I asked her if I could put my name down to reserve 2 and what time they would open on Friday. She put me on hold to check with the manager.
Here's the bad news guys. Take it like everything else stated here, with a grain of salt, but she came back and said that the manager said he just got notified they could not sell on Friday and does not know when they can sell. He said there's still a chance, but they wouldn't know till Thursday. She said they have had a couple of launch dates already for the device but they were all pulled last minute.
Like I said, take it with a grain of salt. I'm going to call the last store in the area now.

Agreed. I saw this morning that the thread title changed to confirmed, I was hoping they finally sent out a press release.
That's two posts now of Verizon employees saying the launch has been delayed last minute, again.

got a text from my buddy who is a VZW corporate store manager today. i asked if there was any truth to the soft launch and he replied with "it's true". he then set me up with an appointment to pick up my GNex on Thursday morning at 11AM (since that's my lunch break) to make certain that I get my hands on one launch day.
i have no reason to doubt him after everything he's helped me out with in the past in regards to phone launches. i guess i'll know at 11AM on Thursday!
So are some people getting their hands on this a day early? I ve pretty much been told Friday by my store, so what's up with the whole Thursday thing?
