Did I miss something from Verizon that said it will not be the 9th?
Or is that just an assumption?
you are assuming the person that writes the messages follows the rules of formal logic. Most of the time people do not. So when people change the date from Friday to whenever, it means not Friday. Unless there is evidence that the person 1 knows the rules and 2 is careful in choosing words to obey those rules. Is it safer to assume 1 and 2 or to assume that the person is like most everyone else?

If authorized resellers who "didn't get the message" release it on Friday, then it's going to FORCE Verizon's hand. This taffy-pull of a release may very well happen on Friday as VZW discovers resellers pushing units out and then message their stores with a simple "Sell! Sell! Sell!"
OR: Resellers will sell the phones on Friday but VZW won't activate any of them. Either way, Verizon has the potential of looking worse than they do now.
Let's just hope the delay IS network-based, 4G gets fixed tomorrow, and Friday is Launch Day.
I picked up a couple of cases too and couldn't find that one in any stores around me. Do you have have the part number or SKU for that one? Thanks!!
Do you really want/need something that big? I'm coming from a BB Tour with an Otterbox case (same style as the "double cover") and it really adds significant bulk. Pretty sure I do no want to go that route again if the TPU case provides adequate protection.
Well the newest screenshots linked in that article were still the ones showing the D4 as 12/8 and Nexus as 12/9. Alas they also said White RAZR on 12/6 so are obviously not fully correct.
I really don't believe any of what I am posting here much and am just adding speculation with all the rest. I could see D4 and White RAZR orders/promises to Moto as a reason to delay the Nexus though. It's pretty obvious soft/quiet launching the Nexus will do nothing to slow it's sales share in relation to the Droid line. At this point though they are putting customers on the line if they wait much longer to launch it. AT&T should see the Note soon and we've heard plenty of stories of peeps getting unlimited AT&T plans if'n they will jump ship.
I just hung up with my local Costco. I asked the lady when the Nexus would be going on sale. She said Friday morning. I then went on to ask her if she had heard anything about the delay. She said she was aware of the delay rumors, as was her manager, but they were still planning on selling the phone Friday morning.
Sounds like Verizon has yet to contact all retailers. The only question is will they get around to contacting all of them before business hours on Friday. Fingers crossed.
But what difference does it make if you get the phone but can't activate it?

The double case does not add much bulk at all. i had one on the iphone and the thickness it adds is less than the tpu cases. The otterbox is way thicker than the double case please do a google search. smh

yeah, i tried volume down + power too. still no data connection at all for me.
The 4G issue is a update they are rolling across the country according to my local VZW guy. He said they've had lots of people coming in trying to get their phones fixed today. He said it should be complete by midnight.

Just attempted my first call to do the Unlimited Hotspot/Data trick....failed. Going to shower and then call again and hope I get a better rep...
FWIW I was straight up honest with the rep and told her I needed to snake into an unlimited data plan and I heard that this is the way to do it. She laughed and put me on hold for 5 minutes while she contacted tech support and they got it put on there for me. Tell them you want the 30 dollar MHS that isn't listed online but you know it's possible to get it.

Well, i dont think that Verizon can block the phones from activating, for those of us with old sim cards we can use/cut. I think on CDMA it can be blocked, but i think the card gets activated and the phone gets sold.

fyi, recording phone calls without permission from the other party is illegal in some states. Check local laws. Just sayin

The one I have on my Charge really made it feel bulky for me. I've seen the iPhone ones which is why I wanted one. I feel like the squareness of the ip4 works in favor of the case and keeping it slimmer. But the rounded styling of the Charge felt thick. It's thicker than the TPU case I got today.
Just shows you, when it comes to feel/build/cases, certain things really are personal preference.

Can you really modify a full size sim to work in a micro one? I don't entirely understand how a sim card works....
i read somewhere the outage should be fixed by midnight... maybe that's pst? either way if service is restored, vzw tests out nexus connectivity. passes. announces to release on friday. Everyone is happy. hurray?

I sincerely enjoy the way you're interpreting this info. I second your rationale, MAKE IT SO!
Only thing I worry about Friday is that in the email supposedly sent from corporate it said it was delayed. Otherwise I tend to agree with the network issues being the cause.

Thats what everyone is hoping. It seems to be isolated though because some have no issues and some with a nexus are not having issues either.

Yeah you can mod them. I have my wifes micro sim from her Razr to use as a mockup. I want to use it because I have contacts stored there that arent on my google contacts Im going to use hers as a template.

Wouldn't it just be the perfect irony if Verizon does launch this phone on Friday? I mean, after all the prior leaks that weren't explicitly refuted but just passed away in silence, to now have a leaked launch that seems to be refuted. Maybe I'm alone in my thinking, but I would ALMOST find it comical if Verizon actually launches the phone the one time I'm not expecting them to.
There have been a couple rumors about a VZW rollout to update LTE. Kind of stupid to do this without a PR, but who knows. Maybe it's a scheduled rollout, and they had a few hiccups (Obviously), and they pulled back until they iron out the kinks.
People, you MUST think realistically! If Verizon truly delayed the phone due to bugs we would NEVER see this phone. There is a point where they will push the phone out now and worry about bugfixes later. Hell, the iPhone 4S had battery life issues but Apple didn't postpone the phone release because of that.
And seriously, why do people assume the change of "12/9" to "coming soon" to be bad? Maybe they saw it was leaked and changed it so reps wouldn't tell any more customers...
Sorry, I'm being really optimistic now, but I'm also being really reasonable right now.
Very true. Also to add (because I have mentioned I work retail). The first thing I do or my coworkers do at ANY job is read the email to see if there is a new thing we need to do that morning. The building of a display would only take 5-10 minutes to put out a demo phone power it on and place signage.
If corp stores fail there is still hope I have for RadioShack, Costco, Sams (someone did mention sams club right? right?) to blindly sell the phone and ignore memos, thinking they still need to go ahead and sell on the 9th as they have been told. Heck I bet one of those companies will not have had their bigwigs send out an email to not sell.
Failing all this we still have a possible go ahead on Sunday for Best Buy. I will be willing to bet Best Buy still goes ahead with the release. I will be double betting (BB sales people do not get commission) that I could throw $20 a sales person's way to make it worth their while to pretend they didnt see an email come in. Yeah that's unethical, but so was delaying the phone due to bugs that don't anymore exist.
I know what I have listed could be slightly painful for some, due to loyalty discounts you may have coming up but for many of us we want the phone and don't care what it takes at this point for us to get it.
