240z is where its at. True and pure sports car. No bells and whistles.
Nice Car...I hate not buying american...but I'm on My Second Subaru WRX...
2009 WRX Premium...W/Catback Exhaust and minor mods chimes in at 310HP , and I still get me 29mpg (they were way off n MPG on both cars 4-5 low)...Drive By Wire, All wheel Differential, And ICE PIKE tires makes Wisconsin Winter Driving Fun...43 Isn't OLD
I know the Razr is thinner, but this phone felt almost thinner due to the fact it wasn't so wide and long as the razr.
This. It was by far the easiest to hold out of it and the two Rs. The RAZR was last, awkward feeling. The rezound felt pretty close to my thunderbolt, but not as heavy.
I apologise for not being around too much today. We are trying to get all of our holiday shopping done today.
We do have some wonder insights from Secret Santa for all the good little Nexaholics in Android land. Hope this answers some questions for some of you.

I was conerned about the tendency AMOLED has to impart a teal tone to the whites. This one is pretty good up to about 30° off-axis in any direction. Beyond that whites start to go teal. Rating: Acceptable
Pentile and resolution was also a concern. Forget about it. My eyes literally can't focus close enough to pick out individual pixel, let alone sub-pixels. Rating: Outstanding
Feel and tactile response is also important to me. I HATE the feeling of my son's iPod Touch's glass. It feels sticky or squeaky as you slide your finger over it. HATE that! The flip-side to that is the responsiveness of the digitizer. The Apple was hands down superior to my OG Droid...and the D1 was pretty decent. The Galaxy Nexus combines the best of both worlds. The screen is slippery like Gorilla Glass and yet repsonsive like an Apple. The slightest gesture registers in an almost telepathic way. Rating: Outstanding
I had some concerns about the curved chassis at the headphone jack. My 'phones have a large diameter grip that I was afraid might interfere. It doesn't. No problem. Those of us with studio-grade headphones needn't worry.
The power botton and volume up button are a little too close to the same axis. I keep mashing them both when I only want one or the other. I'll get used to it.
The lack of printing on the face and relatively symetrical build/balance makes it less tactile and intuitive to orient correctly in your hand. I've found myself holding it upside down and searching for the power button. Again, I'm sure I'll get use to it.
The buttons themselves have a very nice feel. They have just enough travel and "breakover" to be satisfying without protruding from the chassis too far. Much better than the mushy buttons on the OG.
The curve of the glass is too subtle, IMO. I wonder if the GSM version, with it's thinner profile, makes it seem more dramatic.
Speaking of the GSM, the LTE version is DEFINITELY NOT BLACK. I would call it gunmetal or dark silver.
Um...it uses a MICRO SIM, if there was any doubt.
The vibration used for feedback is nice. The oscilation frequency is much higher than the OG and it feels like there is less play, so the overall feel is "tighter" or more controlled.
Jury is still out on reception. It's certainly NOT BAD. I'm in a single story office made of brick and steel in a fringe area and at my desk it's showing -93 dBm 2 asu and 3G service. Other side of the office, closer to the windows, it switches to 4G. Considering I wasn't even expecting 4G here, I'm pretty happy so far.
Let me know if there is anything else I can answer.

I have a MS3, and see the same thing, I get 29-30, 4-5 higher than what was advertised. Of course, that is driving nice... Your's a hatch or sedan?
Has any of the almost got it peeps been someone trying to buy full retail? I would think that would go off without a hitch at any place unlike bestbuy where they have the retail price and product in their system. Not sure how many places would have that though and some like Costco won't sell full retail.
It is so good isn't it! Could not find good Mexican in NJ (I've been to Howell a couple times for extended stays brother sand sister in-laws), but oh my the Italian was killer
not really authentic Mexican, but the next time you are up, you should have them take you to Surf Taco in Jackson (only about 20 minutes) great coastal/beach vibe! SurfTaco

BAM! BAM! every time, I check in, a slap in the face.
stupid Verizon. They need some competition, BAD. This launch is what happens when the only (developed) LTE provider in the US gets exclusivity from Google. Bad news, from start to finish.

Question for everyone... how does Radio Shack, Costco, Premium Resellers, Best Buy, etc. handle grandfathered unlimited data? I've always been leery which is why I never considered getting one anywhere other than a corporate VZW. Thoughts?
Don't know. Probably just the place in town. I'm playing chauffeur tonight for mom and my aunt (she is visiting) and they'll be at the house eating when I get home. I wish it was Pizza Town or Kinchley's though
KINCHLEY'S!!!!! I went to Ramapo (and my family used to live up in Mahwah) God I miss their pizza
Also check out Jalapeno's Grille in Glen Rock (little further), but really good!

I find it very weird that I'm not jealous of the person who snagged a Nexus.
This is troubling.
Still feel that way now?
Actually I am happy for them. I wish VZW wasn't so serious about a few getting out, so they didn't have to hide.
But Secret Santa, thanks for sharing! And thanks for being a messenger OTD, how does it feel to have everyone waiting for you to relay stuff? Steven and Han were getting all the attention

I seriously wish we could just buy our phones directly from the manufacturer and use it on the network of our choice. I understand that the costs would be higher for the devices, but our monthly bills could also be lower because the cell phone companies aren't having to subsidize them.
The way it is done now makes about as much sense as telling someone they have to buy their television through their cable/satellite provider.

For all you who have held a demo unit. How is it possible that the phones so light but feels so well built and solid? This is one of my major concerns- I couldn't stand how light and cheap the samsung charge felt. I'm 6'3'' 220- I need a little bit of weight in my hands for something to feel well built .
There is no way possible that was the reason for the delay. If that bug slipped all the way till now without being addressed and fixed, then someone at google/android got fired.

Hatch...They didn't make the Premium in Sedan...It actually takes weight off the back for cornering...I Live mostly in Far Northern Wisconsin...Heated mirrors, Heated Wipers, and Heated seats are something I couldn't pass up on

isn't that almost exactly what happened to OTD and Cincy earlier in the day? sounds familiar.
The odd part is the "couldn't make a phone call" bug as the supposed explanation for the delay. SamMax received calls the phone that SamMax temporarily had, and that's how Verizon was able to leave a message to bring it back.

I’ve been a follower on Twitter for years now but never a tweeter. Today I did my first tweet: @verizon #vzwnexusfail I’m certain the VZW execs are smugly using the Gnex as we speak

Going to guess a lot of that has to do with you having a phone that's working fairly well as opposed to the OG Droid that was dying on you. You aren't feeling the need for a phone as keenly as you were. Combine that with other shiny objects competing for your attention (Tprime), and you're not as 'needy' of the Gnex as you were say a month ago.

I am from SW Minnesota originally (wearing my Vikings polo today, definitely NOT a fair weather fan) so I know what you mean about that stuff. Living in GA is nice, summer tires year round.
Its getting tight for me now as I am traveling on the 17th.
I called the once confident Costco rep who yesterday was feathering the tether nest at the Kiosk as we spoke and he responded today .......
"I'm sorry Mr. gapi, but this doggoned Verizon Yo-Yo phone has made a donkey of me for the last time. All I will say from this point is if we have it or not. I'm worn out on the thing. I have phones sitting here because customers keep looking for that one."

Because its thin. It doesn't feel like a big hollow peice of plastic like the charge did.

It's far weighter than I expected it to be. Feels perfect IMO, much like the OG Incredible did.

I've yelled this meme in forums on cellphones for YEARS. So annoying to me this isn't even an option. And when a company such as T-Mo does offer unsubsidized pricing for plans if I am not mistaken they give you a pretty crap discount compared to the sorts of incentive money it seems retailers get for selling devices.
I think to make this happen, we consumers need to DEMAND that it does. Tell them we don't want a contract and subsidized pricing, but rather better monthly cost and pay whatever the device costs from whomever we want. As long as most customers are happy with the subsidy regime we are stuck I am afraid as no other carriers seem to want to set things up different.

VZW exec are iPhone ass-hats. No doubt in my mind.
When Verizon does finally make an announcement it should be something like:
Title: Verizon Galaxy Nexus
Body: Go!
OR
Title: Verizon Galaxy Nexus Released
Body: Enjoy!
How about:
Body: We're so sorry for treating you like insignificant pawns in our corporate games and have decided to subsidize the full cost of your phones because it's the least we can do to make up for our awful treatment of you. You deserve better.

Yummy!!!
Which place in town? Is Brothers Pizza still open there? Villa? I think those were there when I lived in your town.
Being the conservative type (personally, not politically, though there is nothing wrong with that), I was waiting until my GN was on order until I did this, but since that's not happening, I decided not to wait any longer...
I have a feeling more will be revealed. You never know, but that's my feeling.
Yeah right after I put that, "Secret Santa" via OTD gave us a nice little bit of info. I can definitely live with that delivery, just saying, can get more real time info the other way.
As one of the offenders, sorry guilty as charged.. however, please take the time to read the first post in the thread. This is a bit of a lounge-type thread where off topic stuff is allowed. Like you, some have had issues with it at times.. however it can be used as a bit of a measuring stick. If you're seeing a slew of off topic posts, there is likely no new info. Trust me, we'd all be atwitter about it if there was. Also, the most recent info tends to be in the first post. Steven and the other mods keep it pretty much up to date with rumors, leaks and pics.
And honestly, IMO, the off topicness here and there is part of the thread's charm and has contributed greatly to the sense of community here. I've commended them privately before, but Steven, Early and OTD have done an amazing job of keeping us relatively on track and civil (though some of that has to do with the wonderful folks posting here as well) without throwing the mod powers around willy-nilly like I've seen on some boards. They deserve a lot for helping to forge this community into what it is today. This isn't really a thread, it's a conversation among friends and that's quite frankly just awesome. I'd not go anywhere else for news without bringing it back here to my Gnex family because this place is like home, and the only thing I thank Verizon for with the delays is letting me spend just a bit longer with the great folks here.
...but since you're new here I'll refrain from the off topic stuff for a bit to raise the signal-to-noise ratio on GNex news since I've got nothing today.
I think I found the off topic tag Testing
Sorry for my mistakes...I was Lurking for weeks and only jumped in a week or 2 ago
