I received a call from Verizon this morning about the 4G promo (after getting it noted in my account) that it's a CHICAGOLAND area thing ONLY. She had her doubts that I would be able to use it - despite being in the Chicagoland area. I will fight tooth and nail to use it. She said if I can use it "more power to(me)" and "couple it with your NE2 loyalty, you could save some money."
Like I'm going to allow them to deny me AFTER they gave the go-ahead AND I apply for it...pfffft!
Point of this post: Those of you living outside of the Chicagoland area, DO NOT be surprised if the $100 4g promo does NOT apply!
I sure hope your rep was wrong sir. May I ask why they called you after getting a note in your account. Did you send them an email or something?
Oohh, people on Australia always quip about how they are always last when it comes to new toys and Americans are always first and laughing at them. Guess they get their turn finally.

Galaxy Nexus rules!!!
Not as interesting as some of the other developments we've seen for our precious but its still interesting especially for those of you who love customization.
So, I saw that Verizon tweeted that they are giving a limited-time $50 credit on Motorola accessories to people buying a Droid Razr... Twitter
and I thought, "they're doing one last push of their razr before pushing the Gnex!"
And then I thought, "wow, that's just stupid logic... Have I become that desperate?"
And then I thought, "it's stupid Verizon's fault for making me go through this"
And then I thought, "wow, I'm so lame... It's still just a phone, and will essentially still do all the same things that my Droid does..."
It's dumb, I know... I thought I could convince myself to gain a little perspective by typing this out, but even as I do, I just remembered that the Gnex is made of diamond and gold, and excretes rubys and pearls. So, stop criticizing me, all you haters!

Lol. I know what you mean. My gf is literally getting pissed off at me as about every third sentence out of my mouth is talking about this phone. She's hung up on me once or twice because she got tired of it. I guess that's what you would call being obsessed with a phone. Sad thing is its not even out.
Yeah, she just wants me to stop talking about it... I think she'd rather I ignore her, balls deep in the phone, then hear me ramble on, and on, and on, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on,, and on..............
Well, you get the point.

I did - I sent them an email Saturday evening about it. I persisted in calling because I'm impatient. She looked into my account and just wanted to talk to me about it. "No promises it will work," she said. I'm capable of paying the $300 for the phone, but my inner frugal monster says "might as well try it."
She apologized profusely about being late in replying...but I didn't mind.
So I am a noob compared to some of you guys, but I just don't understand why Verizon has not made any sort of announcement about this phone? Isn't this phone supposed to be revolutionary?
If this was Apple there would be so much anticipation by even people other than us tech geeks.
Verizon seems to be so bad at advertising newer phones. Why would they do this from a marketing standpoint? Makes no sense to me..
Actually, I'd wager the damage was done more by the diamonds and less the softer metal prongs.
Unless you got her an engagement ring with cubic zirconia?
One single diamond in the ring. It's a square cut (asscher cut) and the prongs are on the corners. Cathedral setting with smooth, rounded shank leading up to the diamond so there's no way the side of the diamond could even touch the screen like that. No way the diamond caused it.
Why does the OP have any date in it ever??? That's what I don't get. That OP subject has had many "confirmed" dates in it, and so far NONE of them have come true.
I'm not sure which is worse, Scott's Kiss of Death or the OP Curse.
Keep the scoptimism coming! We need something to cling to.

Han I love these posts I crack up every time...thanks for keeping us in the loop, as a side note, I think we should see if CBS would be willing to pick up a show based on Han and his interactions with his source. I'm thinking sitcom with lots of product placements
Now who to cast?

The story contains a link to a version of Zumocast that you can sideload onto any phone! Especially for those concerned about non-expandable storage space, this is very useful.

Well good luck to all of us that got a "note" then, we'll see what happens.
Anyone with corporate discount know what pricing is going to be? I paid 230 for my Thunderbolt on a 1 year contract, 2 years was 200. Think I'll be able to get the nexus on a 2 year for 200?
Just called my Radio shack guy who has my name on the only one they got in and said thier latest memo says 14th they can sell them. He said 10:00 am i can come in tomorrow and pick it up, has my name on it. I am already prepared for the whole "wont ring up" scenario but he's saying theres a chance....

Help me out here. I have 6 mos left on my grandfathered unlimited data contract. I've had a Bionic, purchased outright for $350, for about 3 weeks now. I picked it up because my OG Droid was crying out for mercy and thought it would be nice to see how a larger, touchscreen only phone would suit me in the real world. I don't mind a larger phone at all after having used the Bionic this long and I can live with touch screen only. I haven't had the serious data problems that some Bionic owners have had, so that isn't a big reason for me to switch. I'm enjoying the crap out of 4G. I'm also enjoying the crap out of the great uptime I get with the extended battery - all day usage, 4G turned on, no problems, no midday charging necessary. And the phone is fast, especially coming from the OG.
I want the Nexus. But mainly because of the ability to stay current on the OS. I'm not a big custom ROM kind of guy, so I had been living with Froyo for a long time only to see GB never coming to the Droid except on custom ROMs. I like to see refinements every now and then...
So, more rational minded Nexus pre-release thread readers (near oxymoron, I know), what would you do? Keep the Bionic and live as a free agent after June to keep my network options open and wait to see where the next Nexus lands? (AT&T service is generally fine for me, HSPA+ is also fine for speed needs...) Or would you upgrade now just to experience the newness of a supposedly more oft updated Nexus sooner rather than later? Is say supposedly because, Verizon does have a hand in firmware approvals and, well, we all know how predictable that is...especially when I'm not a big custom ROM guy, remember...
Thoughts? Talk me out of/into a Nexus. Make your case. You know you have nothing better to do. Of course, it is ultimately up to me, but I just wonder what others would do in my situation. Don't put the cost of the decision into your reasoning - that aspect for this decision doesn't matter much to me at this point.

Here's hoping it works out. I just talked to my RS guy yesterday and his screen showed 12/15 for green light sales.
People, this will not be a big launch. Verizon is going for a "soft launch", or a launch that hardly anyone will know about because this is not a Motorola droid branded device. You won't have any huge press release because they want to keep this device on the down-low. Be patient. I am 99.999% sure its coming out Thursday. It was SUPPOSED to come out last Friday, but 4g issues pushed the phone back. Give it time, people! It WILL come!

I want Jodie Sweetin to play his source (based on a a post a few days ago saying something to the effect of "I heard you are referring to me as 'Miss Piggy' on the forums. How rude!"

Sorry about the non-description, I was talking about Burn Notice. And FWIW, I haven't seen any Star Wars, and I refuse to do so. Yes, I'll probably be the first and last geek you hear say that..
