When you root, do you lose the ability to OTA? I think I am going to unlock first (so that I get the wipe out of the way) and then wait for the OTA that I heard is pushing out and then Root at a later date. Any thoughts?
Have to say the first time I actually enjoyed a pop up ad on this site was the one this morning of a big beautiful Nexus with a VZW logo. I immediately jumped on their site and saw the ad up front.
So excited. It's definitely been a ton of fun being part of this thread. I really look forward to joining you guys and gals in the future!
And yep, I'll be at RadioShack at 9am eastern for open!

Trophy checking in here. I arrived at my vzw store 3 hours early so far I'm the only one here. They open at 9 central. I wish I had an AF shirt to wear lol. Also at my store there is zero advertising on the store front for the G Nex.
i drove by mine an hour after close last night and they hadnt put anything up, guess they must put it up in the morning

I signed up for both the Samsung and Verizon emails way back when and I haven't gotten an email from either. As long as I get my phone I don't care if they shun me
It feels so good pulling up Verizon's page and seeing our precious on the front page.
One more hour and I'll be taking off to get mine. They told me they'd be holding one, so I shouldn't have to worry about a line. Although it's in a BJ's, and they said they never get a rush there anyway.

Been here since 5:45. Still alone. Manager just arrived. No advertising, no nexus out.

But I have to work today, no stores nearby, either. So I am rolling the dice and heading to a big corporate store on the way home. They would not hold one for me last night, but suggested calling an hour after opening to gauge how fast they were going.
Sorry if this was discussed already. Did anyone receive an email from that sign up page for the nexus news? I didn't and to think about it more, pretty sure I signed up and never received anything for the Razr our Rezound.
Surprisingly, I got an email at 1:13am. I didn't even put my email in the Nexus page. I put my email in during the DInc launch...
went by more store on the way to work and no nothing up...hoping they are coming in early to set up...either way i will be there at 8:15 to start the wait. hope you all get one asap, and good luck

Who is buying from LetsTalk? I hope they don't screw the order up... $155 was hard to pass up with free overnight shipping hopefully it will be here on Friday.
I actually was about to give in to the $$ and order it from letstalk, but right when I did, I saw that somewhere along the way it went from $229 before $75VZN to $289 for my order.
I agree that it's probably based on the plan you have (in this case, it's the smallest family plan you can get) and even though we were adding a line, that bumped the price up a ton. For $155 vs. $249 it was a hard choice. For $215 vs. $249, it's pretty easy. Of course that price is assuming I can get my $50 corporate discount at the store, which my CSR told me earlier that I could, but like I said, I apparently got the most incompetent ones they have... At the very least I've got a $30 loyalty discount. Gonna try using both...
I preordered a Nexus at a indirect verizon store last friday and they said the purchase order for their phones was made on 12/06, but as of yesterday didnt have them in at all according to them. Is there a good chance they come in today if they arent already there? Have you heard of a premium retailer not getting new phone on same day as release as corporate stores. Thanks for all the input I can get, so I can make up my mind about what to do cause I paid the whole price of 300.00 plus tax when i preordered. They are trying to tell me that they cant refund it, but never stated that during transaction. Closest corporate store is about hour away, so thats why i went this route to begin with.

If you go on Verizon Wireless' home page and search the store locater...put your zip code in, it will display all of your closest wireless stores with their store hours. Mine's at 9am....will be there waiting! Finally
Well time to get up and get ready for the day. Then its off to Verizon. Probably the last time posting in this thread before its locked so I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for making the wait much more bearable. Maybe now my work productivity will go back up (after I've mastered the nexus, of course lol)

Rooting in and of itself will not break the ability to receive Google's OTAs. Once you begin applying custom kernels, that might break it, but you should be able to easily re-flash to the default ROM. I anticipate this phone being much easier to tinker with than even the OG Droid.

When I got my Bionic on launch day they never advertised opening early but they did. Just give them a call to see if it's early open.
But with all the lack of advertising, I doubt it.

The one I'm going to is a kiosk in BJ's, considered a corporate store, so same as other corp stores - $299. And since you're buying direct from VZW, you don't need a membership (the BJ's around here look at your card at check-out, not when entering).
It's been great hanging out with you guys. Looking forward to hanging around the water cooler with you folks....YEAH! my first Android Device.
