I feel like a post from THE SOURCE and or Hanette would complete the thread nicely, I know pushing, ........anyway...... WOW, JUST WOW!! what a ride!!!

I wont be getting mine today, only because I just now wrapped up projects I need to invoice for, as I was heavily slowed down with work by this thread. No upgrade for me, so full price it is.
I knew it would be a while before I can swing the cost but still hung on to every post, simply for the awesomeness of this thread of epic proportions. I am sooo excited with all of you getting your babies today and hopefully Im not tooo far behind.

So Congratts everyone, especially you Steven, and I couldnt have imagined missing out on this wonderful journey. Yep, what a ride

If anyone has the Samsung (not the Verizon) car dock, I would be interested in your comments. Looks like I may go with this dock off Amazon as it's reasonable ($20) and looks easy to remove and add.

Also, just FYI, I am getting a solid two bars of LTE coverage in my office. Email seems to be syncing with the Exchange server just fine.

How about the GN on display at the corp stores? You have these big iPhone and Droid Razr displays and posters all nice with Christmas decor, and one little sad GN over in the corner (seriously) that wasn't even powered on. Crazy!! I told the rep that this phone might outsell the others

My store didn't have any extended batteries. Not a big deal, I'll see how the standard one does. I did buy the VZW screen protectors.

To my surprise, I got a $50 loyalty, the $100 credit (charged to acct) and had 40% off phone upgrade through my employer.

I was out of the store for under $100. Woot!
Not that it was a big deal, but having a few hundred extra in the bank acct is a good thing.

I love the taste of ice cream sandwich in the morning. Didn't expect so many people at my store (east Hanover NJ). Finally the wait is over; what a relief.

Got 2 gnex today at 9. I returned 2 rezounds and somehow ended up getting money back
Didnt question it. So far gnex has better screens and a more responsive UI.

Guys and gals, I'm gonna post this quick because I have about two months of backlogged work to catch up on...

I lurked on the DInc thread but didn't really participate. However, because of the outstanding efforts of our mods, Early, OTD and Steven, and the great sense of camaraderie here, I really feel like I was part of something larger than the sum of the individual parts.

THANK YOU ALL for your time, effort, and friendship! I'd say I'll miss you guys, but that doesn't have to happen since I will be hanging with everyone over in the Lounge!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to play with my new Nexu... err, I mean get back to work!

Enjoy your new toy, everyone!!

Well, I am a proud owner of a new Galaxy Nexus! I have an extended battery! I have the el-cheapo Verizon screen cover (gonna get Steinheil) and the shiny black silicon cover. I also bought the battery charger.

The did not give me the 100 dollar discount at the store, but as the CSR guy told me two days ago, "just charge it to your account and we'll do it over the phone." They did.

Google's downloading my apps now, and is trying to load them onto my homescreen! :O Eh, gotta delete that.

Ttyl. Finishing up my g'bye post.
Did you take that picture with the Gnex? You both look great and HAPPY!

Got mine! I had to take care of a few things when I got back to work, so I'm a little behind posting. This thing was so worth the wait! I've been showing it to a few friends who are due for upgrades within the next few months, and they both agree that this will be their next phone.

Been a great ride, and I'll be looking forward to keeping up the chat in another thread.

Thanks, Steven (and the other mods as well, of course)! You've done a great job keeping us under control!

One thing that has really stuck out is this design. I can't imagine what kind of time that went into it. Next to my Inc it's gargantuan. However, when by itself in my hand it's not big at all. It boots up in what seems like an instant for those who benchmark their bootup times

edit2* btw i tried ordering a coffee at starbucks, holy christ its like they've never had someone order a black coffee before.. "did you mean a venti blah blah blah." i don't know i want a coffee.
Aw, why'd you have to go and do that... I had almost gotten swype out of my mind. I was having fun with SlideIT, even though it's no where near as good as swype, but I was distracted at least.

Now I need swype. No beta for it?

Default Farewell

So I just go back from VZW store and got my precious. I can't wait to get to know it better but that will have to wait until tonight (after work).

I wanted to say thank you to everybody on this forum! I know most don't know me since I've been relatively quite, but I am switching from a blackberry so I'm new to the Android experience and honestly don't have near the connection or knowledge of most the people here. What I would like to say is thank you ALL for sharing your information and knowledge, you have made this horrible release experience a joy and I will miss looking at this thread much more than I should have. I hope in time to learn enough about the Android system to someday repay my debt to those that are less informed but for now I say thank you!

And I have to say thank you to Steven, this is by far the best thread I have ever read with the best people involved and you are the one that kept it on track. Without you I'm sure this thread would have turned on itself long ago which we saw happen periodically, and which we can blame VZ for. One of my favorite moments was when you sent a pic from the samsung store playing w/ the phone! Never before have I been so happy for a complete stranger!

I plan on stopping by the watering hole periodically and getting to know more of you better and to learn things about my new obsession, but for now, it has been fun!

VZW corp store in Tysons Corner, VS is a zoo. They've sold 30 odd so far and there are 15 people in line, the phone is running hot, but they are saying they have stock to keep this up until at least lunchtime. Get here quick if you are coming!

Hey guys, is anyone else finding that some whites are grayish? Or is it just me?

The Google word in the search box is white as can be, but the software buttons and web backgrounds are grayish?

Is this normal?

Also, my prelim phone call to my wife from inside RS was not the best of audio quality (compared to my Droid and Bionic).
So I have any qualms of getting this phone though.
HELL NO
FWIW, someone reported that the Gnex is pessimistic reporting signal strength. In other words, it may report only one bar, but may be equivalent to other phones 3 bars.

The "bars" are arbitrary. Only real measure is signal strength.

Yes, it is the theme. The reviews said it was a gray and blue color scheme...

I'm very curious about reception. Those that have picked it up already, how does the reception seem compared to your previous phones?

So after logging on with the google acct, it didn't start to download all my apps. Not a big deal, since I'll install most stuff with Titanium, but curious why it didn't work. I did have backup and restore option checked on my previous phone.

Curious.

Picked mine up in West Hartford CT this morning, 12 of us in line. Another 10 showed up while my phone was activating. CSR said this was more than the iPhone 4/4S launches. Said they were going to run out of phones soon.

It's an addiction! I can't stay away no matter how painful it is. I can't! It makes me feel like this!

We had about 15 when the doors opened. But really only 3 waited, and only one was hard core and dumb enough to get there 2 hours early.......oh yeah, that was me.

It's going to vary from CSR to CSR. Some are more helpful than others. If you are not able to get them to help you with this, then call 611 again and say "cancel my account". The next CSR will help you.

Another conversational tip when it comes to CSRs, don't state what you want from them as the opening line. Start with "I would like to upgrade my phone to the Galaxy Nexus.... (allow the CSR to begin processing the order) "btw, I have this discount...." Once you got the CSR committed to the order, it is more likely they will be more diligent in getting the right answers for you.
