Had a little trouble activating. At first the CSR just told me to wait in the store and to come back if it didn't activate. I waited, and it seemed like it got to the google acct activation screen. tried to input my credentials, but it kept asking for a wifi connection. skipped it and everything seemed fine. Made a call just to check and it started ringing. So I leave, and find out I've got no data connection. Turn phone off, turn back on and it starts the update and installs. When done, I had the 4G symbol and data connection.
Just in case anyone has similar.

Thank you everyone for making this wait tolerable. I was able to walk into my local corporate Verizon, charge my phone to my account (only $160 due to $50 NE2 and 3G-4G $100 discounts), and walk out in less than 20 minutes. I love the phone and it will be unlocked and rooted by the end of the day thanks to the help of AF.
Have a great Christmas holiday and enjoy your family, friends, and Nexi.

In before the lock! So happy to be rid of my rent-a-razr. It is only fitting that my last post in this thread comes from a newly unlocked and rooted GNex.
Catch y'all on the flip side!
Will you PM me the method you used to root and unlock?

SMALL VICTORY (sort of)
I tried and tried to get my upgrade date moved to no avail. I just went online and opened a second line. Yes I will be losing my unlimited data but I got the 4 Gigs for the same price and the most I have ever used was 3. I am usually in a Wifi area.
Now when I came back to VZW 8 months ago they wanted a $400 deposit!!! I have never had that before but I paid it. Today they did not need a deposit. Long story short I have a new number and not unlimited but good enough data.
I will cancel my old line when the Nexus comes tomorrow and they can keep some of that deposit as an ETF since it goes down every month you stay. Or maybe I will go to a store and switch lines and then cancel the new account and pay the ETF next month because in April I will get the $400 deposit credited to my old account.
Any suggestions?

Corp store wouldn't honor $100 promo. I called CSR back and they told me I wasn't eligible, and was misinformed by previous CSR. They did however give me a $50 credit along with $50 NE2. Final price $199.99 with free overnight shipping. I pretty happy, can't wait for the mail to arrive tomorrow. Thanks every one, it has been a blast. Happy Nexusing to all.
The Following User Says Thank You to wahoo95 For This Useful Post:
Got mine @ the corp store in Salem, NH at the mall.
Paid full retail price, asked about any discounts and there were none available. I figure worst case I'll call corporate and get the $100 credit on my account if I can convince them I am eligible (Obviously northeast, and was on 3G).
The 4GB data deal was still going on, I definitely verified that with the CSR.
Only problem i have is that I had to go to a customer site, and on my way there I lost all data signal. Didn't have 4G at all (don't think there's NH coverage yet) and 3G won't kick in either. Checked the settings and it's set to LTE/CDMA, but still nada. I did an OTA update to 4.0.2, and it worked after but then suddenly just dropped out. Had great signal here yesterday with my Palm Pixi on 3G. That has me worried. I've rebooted since but still nothing. Hope nothing is broken, that would be just my luck.
Either way, it's amazing so far besides my data woes!
Gonna miss checking in with this thread, it's been amazing to talk to you all in the limited capacity I have, and even better reading all the great posts from the frequent posters.

As you know, I am probably the craziest, most bipolar poster here, and you guys all made me feel like that was normal. Thank you!
I know that I’ve often been up and down, in and out (no ick intended), and at times have been called the “barometer of the thread”. I take that as a compliment. I’ve never been afraid to say what I’m thinking, and although that’s gotten me a few spankings, I hope that it’s at least provided you guys with entertainment and occasional insights. With me, what you see is what you get (which is why many of you feel sorry for my wife and Cheetara ).
I just want to take this moment to thank, first of all, the Mods here. Steven, you’ve been so frakking patient, I have no idea how you do it. But you’ve been the rudder of our crazy boat, and you deserve that free Nexus more than anyone here. I’m so glad we could do that for you.
OTD, it’s always cool to have a hot chick who is also a geek at heart. Your posts have always been entertaining and helpful, and I know this thread would’ve been borderline sucky without you in it.
EarlyMon, everyone here knows that we’ve had our occasional spat, but after I came back, I was pleasantly shocked to see what a humble, awesome guy you are. Your insights (and there are many, from the technical side to the weird info side) have always been extremely helpful and this thread would have been much less without you.
And to the rest of the posters, you guys have been AWESOME! You’ve all left such a huge thumbprint on the whole Nexus experience for me.
Chief, with your wacky sense of time, BB, with your inappropriate yet absorbing avatars and multi-quote walls, Dawnierae, with your hilarious PM’s and mutual love for Dexter, Nexusprimepls, for your loyalty and kindness, Scott, for your unreasonable optimism that made us all smile, MmcCraryNJ, for practically forcing me to not get the HTC device when I had the chance, IndecisiveElle, for being such a kind soul towards my favorite beings on the planet (dogs), TheRoosevelt, for the funniest and best post in the whole frakking thread (Hitler), Grandma, for your sense of humor and occasional expressions of fearing death, Zedster, for being the resident hacker (still waiting on BB’s webcam access), Dreadnatty08, for twitter bombing the crap out of me to come back, MrLink, for providing the post that convinced me to return, Namrak, for always making me laugh with his chimp face even when he was being serious, The Love Tunnel, for keeping us from getting too low and for really caring about our emotions, My stupid boss for not firing me (yet), Cheetara, for being my sister and putting up with me for 31 years, PrincessLeia, for marrying me and for being almost patient during these hectic months,
and so many more that I can’t possibly think of at this time but really appreciate. You guys made this frakking thread what it is, and it’s epic.
I think I’ve invested a bit too much emotion into this phone and forum over the past few months, but that’s just the way I am. My wife and Cheetara say I’m an extremist, and they’re not wrong. But I am so happy that I got to be obsessed over this thing with similarly crazy and deranged people.
I love you guys!

Unlike everyone else who feigned sickness and imaginary dentist appointments, I played nicely and went into work early opting to work a half day and leave at lunch to finally get my part of the Nexus goodness. Sure hope they ordered enough in Charlotte to have one leftover for me this afternoon. My 4-year old daughter is in her first dance recital this evening and I hope to test the camera on my new Nexus then.
Thanks for sharing all the shenanigans of this longer-than-expected journey in this thread, and I'm glad I'll be in the company of friends for all the tweaks, mods, and updates over the next several months. You guys have been great -- I'll see you at the water cooler!

Just got off the phone with my very helpful CSR who I actually got to know throughout the waiting process. I went ahead and ordered through him (although it was tough), and he gave me free overnight shipping. I'll have my little fella sitting comfortably at home for me when I go home for lunch tomorrow!!
On a SIDE NOTE: those of you who ordered from TPU-Cases, how long did shipment take? I ordered yesterday and live in Ohio. Not sure if anyone else was in the same area who did this...

Got to the store at 8am for a 9 opening. There was no line so I waited in my car until there were 3 people in line at about 8:30. About 5 more people would get there before the store opened (they let us in 10min early) and by the time I left about 10 people or so had walked in asking for the Nexus.

so this thing is more beautiful (and much thinner) than i expected. i've been a little disappointed in the data connection tho.
as far as the delay, it appears no one will really no. one of the district mgrs was ringing me up since there were so many people waiting around. he seemed really shocked that they didn't release it last week. he was struggling to ring me up and appeared to be pretty candid about it. i thought it was interesting that he commented on it, saying that "whoever made the decision isn't letting us know and it couldn't have been a big issue otherwise they would have recalled stock or asked us to quarantine it in store. they simply told us, 'don't sell it'."
think we'll ever know?

Got it. Forgot to write down an app-specific password for my google 2-step verification thing, so none of my personal stuff is gonna sync until i get to a computer.
It was amusing to hear the reps trying to talk other customers into accessories by insulting the build quality, glass strength, battery life, etc. And then admit to each other how much they want the nexus for themselves.
Anyway, probably wont make it to a computer before that silly lock, so it's been real, it‘s been fun, but it ain't been real fun!

Okay, I guess it's time for my final post here, we're nearing the lock! I promise it won't be too long-winded.
First, just wanted to say a great big thank you to the mods who have worked so tirelessly to keep order and prevent us from panicking as we all coasted together along the highs and lows of this roller coaster ride of a launch. Steven, thank you for everything, and enjoy your free Nexus! EarlyMon, your knowledge, wisdom, and calm demeanor are truly inspiring.
Next, another thank you to all the denizens of the thread who have made me and everyone else feel so at home. I have never met a bunch of truly kind and compassionate people as all of you. Though I've been here just under a month (yet somehow got to be the 26th most frequent poster in this thread o_O), I felt just as welcome here as Han or BB or anyone else who'd been around since the beginning. It's a truly special feeling.
But of course, this isn't really goodbye - in fact, it's just the beginning! I'm so looking forward to learning more about harnessing the power of our new incredible device with all of you. See you all in the root forums, and at the watering hole!

May be too late for you but for others unable to get their upgrade moved my suggestion is to KEEP TRYING. I called a few times a couple weeks ago to get my upgrade moved and was denied. After the announcement yesterday I called 2 more times and was again told no. Was first in line at a corporate store this morning and after pleading with them was told no again. Then made 2 more calls to 611 this morning and I finally got lucky and a very nice woman moved my upgrade and is overnighting the Nexus.
Overall I've spoken at least 6 or 7 CSRs and was told no every time until this morning. Guess it's just a matter of being nice and luck of the draw.

So, I was just on BGR and they had a photo of people lined up outside a store in DC waiting to get the Gnex, and I have seen posts in here where people have reported 20, 30+ people waiting. Imagine what it would be like if Verizon had shown this phone a quarter of the promotional love it has shown the RAZR. I know why I am not a VP-level executive at a cellular communications company, but I am not sure why some people are.

Just so everyone knows how lucky they are, here is what I had to deal with:
The first rep I spoke to about the discount actually took the time to note on my account that I was not eligible. From what the second rep said, the first wrote a good 3 or 4 sentences detailing exactly why I was not able to use this $100 discount.
Who does that? Clearly not most of your reps....
Ugh. At least I get my GNex.
