Just a heads-up, I don't think the Mods really like people discussing what I X'ed out in your quote. You may want to edit it

Another day of waking up with no Nexus. I'm sure this day will bring no official news just like all the other days.

Haha, its like putting a helmet on a melon, impaling it on a stick, and poking it out of the foxhole to bait a sniper into revealing their position. I like it.

Yeah, if official news is what you desire, gonna have to wait until after the Rezound launch I am afraid.

Seriously though, how did you do it? I searched Rezound yesterday and waited for like 10 minutes, and today I searched the Nexus and still no dice. I want some communication here, even if it's with the bottom of the food chain CSRs

To talk to a CSR, just go to any phone page and in the top right corner it will say "Need help with your order?" - click that and a chat will open

Edit: this is from the RAZR page.

Fine, you pulled me out of the corner.

A little about myself...

My passion for smartphones began with.... (I hate to admit this) the BB Storm. I remember camping out at 4 AM at my local VZW store and posting obsessively with all my fellow campers on the Crackberry forums. I had so much fun I knew I was hooked on the whole process, the build-up (on the forums) the camping and finally receiving and contributing to the community.

Then one day on that forum somebody posted a link about a new phone coming out called DROID on VZ. I quickly became intrigued but was struggling with switching platforms because at that time I thought I was a die hard BB fan and loved using BBM with all my friends and family. The more and more I learned about the DROID the more I started realizing how much the BB was lacking.

My "obsession" quickly turned to the Original Droid. I believe at that time I made a profile on AF but never really got in to posting on here. The day finally arrived and I took the day off work and got my VZW store early and bought the Droid. I was hooked at that point, BB OS didn't hold up at all compared to Android. I loved the openess of the platform, the web browser, learning how to "root" my phone for the first time.

I remember my first sense of accomplishment when I rooted my phone and got pinch-to-zoom to work on my browser, how awesome!

I was so jealous when I saw the Nexus 1 was being released on T-Mobile but that feeling was soon negated when I saw that it would be arriving on VZW soon. Well as we all know, that began to slip further and further back and then all the sudden the DINC was captured in the Wild. That quickly became my must-have phone.

I believe if my memory serves me correctly I was able to pre-order the DINC at Best Buy by purchasing a 50.00 gift card. I was the first to pre-order and had the first appointment of the morning. I took the day off work and arrived at the store, dashed to the mobile department and was told their shipment of DINC's did not arrive yet. I was FURIOUS! They assured me the shipment was on its way and would be there by 2 PM that day.

Of course I couldn't wait so I left and went to my VZW store and they had plenty in stock. So I purchased it there instead. I loved the DINC it was an awesome phone and I literally talked my whole family in to getting one. Then the DX came out.

I got my mother all up in the hype of getting a new phone so she accompanied me to camp out at a VZW store and buy the DX. I had that phone for about 2 weeks before I couldn't stand it anymore so I went back to the DINC.

At that time I told myself I wouldn't get another phone till a phone was was released with a 4in screen and front facing camera... And wouldn't you know the DINC 2 came out. So that brings me to today and my current phone. (I should mention I got the iphone 4 when it was released to test it out. I kept it for 30 days: Absolutely gorgeous phone and gorgeous display but I could not stand not having free navigation and the openess of android so I dropped it)

There was a point where I left my DINC 2 at work and was leaving on a week long trip that night so I ran out and bought the Charge. I loved the 4G on that phone and the blazing speeds, I hated taking that one back, but I saw the reports on BGR about a "nexus prime" device that was finally coming to VZW.

I began regliously follow the news on the SGN. I was so disappointed when the press conference got pushed back but when it was finally rescheduled I decided I was going to throw and Ice Cream Sandwich party. I bought a bunch of Ice Cream Sandwiches, had some friends over and put the live feed on the big screen and I saw the next stage in Android and I have been excited ever since.

A little about my personal life...

I'm 26 years old and in the Air Force, I'm married to a beautiful wife and we just had our first child a little over 1 year ago. My wife has been absolutely supportive of my passion for technology (although it is a lucrative business)

I lurk on the forums every single day itching for any new news. Reading here has definitely passed the time and I cannot wait to get back in the forum community and start to contribute again.

I just go on to the site and without logging in, I go to Shop, then Plans. Click on the little chat button on the upper right hand area of the screen. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But don't log in. I think they are more helpful if they think you are going to be a new customer.

That was the first time I got sniped. It didn't happen again so I just did the chat button route.

UPDATE:

So the second CSR tells me that the Nexus will not be available before the 22nd, but I highly suspect he was lying in order to get a sale. Also, I highly suspect he is an idiot. He asked me some questions about what I want in a phone, and I responded thinness, HD screen, no hard keyboard. And what does he recommend?

A Bionic.

I was kinda hoping for something today too. The 10th is the 1 day a month I can make changes to my account and not be hit with the pro rate charges or anything so if I were to add a line it would have been perfect.

I find every day I have a positive attitude, we get bad news/rumors, when I have a negative attitude we get good news/rumors. So today I am having a bad attitude, in regards to this phone, again just like I did yesterday.

All right, so I had a chance to chat with a CSR... I was most displeased...

I asked about the Nexus, she said she hadn't heard of it and didn't have any info about it, but she had some other great options to recommend. She asked me what I was looking for in my phone, so I told her that "my friend" had been "raving" about Ice Cream Sandwich, and I wanted a phone with that on it.

Response: "I'm unsure of what the "ice cream sandwich" feature is."

So there you have it, folks. Either they're playing dumb, or they simply have not been told anything at all or recently read anything related to their field whatsoever

Sigh, This crap better launch soon... I need a new phone. My poor old dinc isn't handling Nil's gingersense 3.0 very well(getting several reboots-app crashes a week) and I don't have the energy to reburn it back to a 2.2 ROM and reload everything.

Speaking of which has anyone been trying to bump their update date lately? I'm due on 12/28 (like a lot of Dinc users) I know verizon has tightened up their rules since the Dinc. People back then were getting it bumped 4-5 months. I'm hoping I can get away with a month and change :P

I got the same crap yesterday over the phone. 2 of the 3 CSRs I talked to acted like they had never heard of the phone and one told me that usually when they had press conferences to announce phones and then PR release it was another couple of months before they release the phone.

I think that they honestly don't know anything. The first one was vague about it being out before the end of the month. The second was a liar and an idiot. The third and fourth said it was "not yet available" and gave me the link to the signup page.

They could be in India for all we know and just getting through their shift, or they could be stuck in a call center somewhere playing cards with their cubicle mate in between calls. Who knows.

I don't think I'm going to keep pestering them anymore.

Sigh, like I've said before playing with the CSR's is amusing but don't TRUST ANYTHING they say...

They know nothing, MUCH less then we do "pre-launch" for phones and even then, most only know what is put on their "info" sheet passed down from above.

Last speedtest I ran was over 10 down and 5 up. I've seen it higher when I first got my TB but it looks like more 4GLTE phones are out there using up the bandwidth.

I decided to try the chat thing too and see if anyone will say something they shouldn't. They did but it wasn't helpful, just stupid. I hope this crap is just what she's heard and not actually in their training materials.

Quote:
MaryBeth: What key features in a cell phone are most important to you?
me: a nice screen and no lag
me: I hate waiting for a phone to do things
MaryBeth: Currently none of the phones have a lag. The lag comes from the amount of data you have saved on your phone and the amount of data the phone can actually hold.
MaryBeth: Each phone when you first receive and activate it as at its fastest because it has no applications or saved memory
She went on to tell me that she couldn't recommend a phone with a nice screen because they were all nice. If you aren't allowed to express any popular opinions when talking to the customer, then how could you ever suggest a phone? Without popular opinion of which crappy skin is better or which screen is better then don't you just have a pile of identical 4.3" phones?

The CSR I got said it wasn't confirmed that Verizon was carrying the phone. I told her that Verizon's own site *said* they were, she went and checked and said "Oh, well I guess we are!". Sigh.

Good morning everyone. Since I had a few minutes free before i started work, I have decided to play this game with a VZW online support as well. I have told the chat lady that I am an ATT customer looking to switch. She asked me what phone I was interested in and I told her SGN. Well, of course she told me that she had no information on when the phone will be released. I told her that I would hate to pay another billing cycle to AT&T if I dont have to, if the phone comes out before the end of the month, but she would not budge. She just provided me with a link for the update. Oh well, I will try again later

It's already on the Bionic via Blur. Proving more and more ICS takes a lot from other skins (not that that's a bad thing).

They did say that ICS was supposed to make us LOVE our phones - all aspects of them. So it would make sense that they take elements that seem to be the most adored from any of the UI's and add them in.

And honestly after using vanilla (Droid), Blur (Bionic) and now Sense on the Flyer, they all have great things to offer in their own right. The fact that people like to tear them down and say vanilla is "the best" is just tiresome. Although, I have to say a lot of developers make apps that mimic some of their best features (Beautiful Widgets and the widgets on LPP being two of the biggest and ironically two of the most popular apps in the Market ).

I had this feature on my old Treo and loved it. I feel much less "rude" ignoring a call if I can text a quick reason.

Yeah, we aren't going to get anywhere, if it isn't in inventory, when they check for it they are going to get nothing. At that point it is up to the knowledge of that individual CSR to determine what info you get. Unfortunately most are just in it for the paycheck, and don't know much about phones except what they are given by management.

Not related to the SGN, but still cool news. Manufacturers want to include NFC in microSD cards.

VZW Rep: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
You: Yes, I am interesting in switching over to Verizon for the 4G LTE speeds on your network, and I am coming from ATT with the Samsung Galaxy S2 and really wanted something similar. Something with an HD display, something fast, and preferably Samsung and was wondering what you had in mind.
VZW Rep: We offer 2 4G phones that are samsung the Droid Charge and the Samsung Stratosphere.
You: Yeah I have heard of both. I know the Charge is a bit dated, and the Stratosphere has a hard keyboard which I am also not looking at. Do you have any info on future upcoming phones that may suit my needs?
VZW Rep: No I'm sorry we don't have information on the new phones at this time I do apologize.
You: Ok then, thank you for your time

Their lips are sealed...I tried.

Good luck with that...it is a truly awful situation to be in. Luckily I had insurance.*

*I know insurance was debated here, but I have to say that (for me, personally, IMHO, I think, etc) it is worth it. It is a bit expensive, but being able to submit a claim online and have the phone in my hand by 9am the next day is worth it. Even if I use it once (that is the only time I have used it), the convenience was so nice. I went on with my life as usual, and my phone appeared as soon as possible.
Yeah, I always get insurance on my phones... and I've used it several times. Once because it got destroyed in a motorcycle accident, another cause it got wet on a boat, once becuase someone stole it at work.... and a couple more..
Unfortunately my girlfriend doesn't have insurance and is SOL. I'd gladly give her my Droid X if Verizon would finally take my money and give me the Galaxy Nexus.

A Bionic.

OK,
I'm NOT trying to get everyone's hopes up. I know what the Samsung page says (1750mAh), but here is the pic of the battery next to thier text. It does say NFC on it, so the picture is either from the i515 battery, like inteneded, or is another battery from a phone not yet released with NFC.

But here's the kicker. 7.77Wh @ 3.7V isn't a 1750mAh battery. Nor is it 1850mAh.

Folks, you're looking at a 2100mAh battery!!!!!

Let's not get too excited yet, as we all know how companies use stock photos. But with all the secrecy surrounding this handset, it wouldn't surprise me to see them sneak this in. Also, I don't know of any other Samsung handset that has NFC, and a battery that large.

Fingers crossed.....big time.

Edit: For reference, the GSM GNex battery is 6.48Wh. This is looking GOOD!!!

Oh, he said stop LURKING, not stop LURCHING. Whew! For a moment, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do my G Nex happy dance later. A happy welcome to the family to all the former lurkers and recent newbies! Everybody do The Lurch!
