Please excuse my newbish-ness, but I'm coming from a feature phone and not having to worry about data usage. My question is if I were to use say, Google Music to stream music from my account, does that take up data? Thanks.

I would say yes most likely, unless you are on WiFi.

Definitely. Using your Google phone to stream Google Music will use data.

Yes that uses data as the song is bits of data you are pulling from Google's servers.

Oh well. I think I'll stop buy tomorrow to see if they have a GNex demo.

I'm gonna stop by the Verizon store tomorrow or Saturday (I mean it this time ) and try my luck and maybe take a peek at the rezound
The reps at my store are pretty nice, I've noticed, so it can't hurt to try.

It's a verizon webpage test site.

It's sole purpose is to have a bunch of people monitor it and then flip back to this page to tell everyone(several times each) that is had "gone down" for a minute.

Because you need to know if it's up or down........

after that whole deal with google not allowing facebook access to use gmail in the "find friends" tool on facebook, they had a falling out and wont be natively integrated

I do that too!!! Not just phones. If the salesperson is being a bit baggy then I politely ask a question that will completely throw them off then start talking to the other customer. I was asked to leave a craft store once. (I know it's different than a phone but the manager didn't like being told he was wrong)

Unless you are on wifi. Anything done while connected to wifi, shouldn't count against your data.

Through some SD card scavenging I found that for some songs it downloads the entire song once for playback and then stores it as a temporary, lower quality audio file (or perhaps those are the files that I enabled for offline availability). But yes it does use data. Grandfathered into unlimited FTW!

Hello everybody, I thought I'd come out of the lurk-closet to pass along a little information that I heard today. As with all these other posts, take this with 77 grains of salt. My daughter was making a Chipotle run, and since the Verizon store is right across the street, I asked her to wander in and see if anybody was talking. She was casually checking out Razrs and fruit phones, so naturally one of the associates walked up to her, all ready to sell her something. She mentions that she was really interested in a Nexus, and wondered if he knew when they were going on sale. He told her they were expecting them on Saturday, the 19th. She then asked if Verizon would have made some kind of announcement by now, and he stated probably not, with this phone. Not sure what that even means.

Now, I really pondered whether or not my first post should be a "hey, I know something" kind of post, but I figured it was something to chew on, and you guys have been around long enough to know what this information is worth. Fortunately, it appears that we will soon know something concrete.

Thanks to everybody that contributes to this madness, but I believe it will be worth it.

Bring someone with you that you trust - before walking in hand that person your wallet and tell them to NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, HAND IT BACK UNTIL YOU ARE IN THE CAR

So out of curiosity, has any useful information ever been leaked via the testman site? We went through this "ZOMG TESTMAN IZ DAON" business back when we waited for the Incredible, and never got anything out of it.

Steven said information has been leaked off the Testman site before so that's why I've been checking periodically.

things like this infuriate me. i know their living is based on commission, but intentionally misleading a person is just sleazy. the worst one for me occurred when i was buying my thunderbolt and overheard a VZ rep telling another customer that the iphone4 had 4G and would therefore be just as fast. i politely corrected him and was then asked to leave with a tirade about interfering with their sales process. needless to say, i have not visited that particular store since.

I know promos have been leaked through there before. Something like this double data, that kind of info has been leaked through there before.

I think it was a change to family plan pricing before, or unlimited pricing.

Same here. Do that all the time at Best Buy, Office Depot, etc., when it comes to home networking and/or computer equipment. I hate watching a sales rep try to talk a little old lady into a wireless-N router that's twice the cost of a G router when all she wants to do is email her grandkids.

The reps at my store are pretty nice, I've noticed, so it can't hurt to try.

Nah, no worries, renting isn't really an option for me, so it's one or the other . My Touch Pro2 has been cooperating recently (and by that, I mean the screen actually turns on when I press the button) so my patience is a little more. I'll wait until December, and if the Nexus isn't out yet then the Rezound it is.
But I have confidence in Hanette (I'm so proud to have coined that ) and The Source! Week of the 21st it is!

Hey, she needs to earn her keep somehow! Funny thing, she's all set to buy a fruit phone ("those other phones are too big!"), but now I think she's slowly getting sucked into the madness. Muwahahaha!

Good afternoon, Gnexers!

Well, on my way back from my dental appointment I stopped into a corporate VZW store and asked a nice person there about Nexus - specifically about Monday. She went to the manager, and came back with "there is no firm launch date on Nexus... which is weird because we normally have dates set weeks in advance. But not with this phone."

Soft launch? I'm starting to think this will be Verizon's first truly SILENT launch. Since we're up against a weekend here, you would THINK that stores would have them in house by tomorrow, if it's truly going to launch Monday.

We must be ever-vigilant, because this thing could be released without our even knowing it. Check every day, folks. That's my advice. Every. Day.

Coincidentally, the Verizon retailer where I live is also right next to a Chipotle (same block of shopping center). Highland Park, IL? Or is Chipotle + Verizon a more common combination than I thought :P

It still makes a lot of sense for them to release it on the 28th to prevent htc rezound "launch day purchase" returns
