Does anyone else find it ridiculous that a major company like Verizon, who has known about this phone being on their network for who knows how long, can't come up with a solid release date?
Ridiculous, yes.
Repeat of the Thunderbolt ride, also yes.

Honestly, what kind of management can't come up with an optimal release date within a month of that date? It's not like the Rezound or the RAZR came out of nowhere or they didn't understand that Thanksgiving and Black Friday were going to be on the 24th and 25th this year...?
Thanksgiving is really tricky! I guess such a small holiday is easy to forget exists, and black friday too. Such a quiet shopping day.

See this is funny, because you are assuming that there is a warehouse full of LTE galaxy nexus's that are 32gb models already (and not 16gb already). You automatically took the 32gb rumor as fact. So many people in this thread seem to do that, take all the positive rumors and state them as fact and then deny anything negative even when it comes from a more credible source. I'm not against being optimistic, but at least be logical.
Here is an example. Many people are swearing that the LTE version HAS to be 32gb because all of these testers have 32gb LTE models. However, these same test models also have 1750mah batteries. But no one believes it will have a 1750mah battery because the google site says it will have an 1850mah battery (as they should), but yet from that same source it now says 16gb, but everyone refuses it to be true! lol.
All I'm saying, is the only LEGIT source we have right now is the google website, which states it will be 16gb now. Until that web site changes, I say we will be getting screwed on this one.
Let's see.. we have evidence from Verizon of 32 gb version.. evidence from people at Google on the 32gb version (website earlier plus info from BMX).. evidence from numerous reviewers on the 32gb version (all were using GSM versions but I highly doubt they were given them and not told what the specs would be on the release version, would be piss poor journalism to not find out on the reviewer's part and shoddy PR on the folks who provided them if they gave them the wrong info).
Only thing we have to go on to support the 16gb version is the change to the website, which also changed the UK version to have a 32gb version that none of the carriers over there seem to be offering. Also note there doesn't seem to be much talk about the change elsewhere.
I'll go with what appears to me to be a much more logical inference that Verizon's getting the 32gb version and someone goofed at Google, swapping the specs on storage between the UK and US versions when adding the info on the 1 gig of memory.

IMHO.... Software can be updated/upgraded. I'm really interested in call quality and speaker volume. The rest is gravy.
Your absolutely right, but asking on a forum doesn't hurt- especially one of the largest GNex forums there is! Besides, does the nexus really make phone calls?

Certainly not. I'm just surprised to see such heavy focus on software (which can be changed) over hardware (which cannot).
PS. I didn't mean to come off sounding like a Windsock.

Those numbers are very telling. That poll alone would account for almost 10% of the total number of SGN that Verizon has apparently ordered. If we're only a small percentage of customers imagine how many they could sell if this thing only goes mildly mainstream. Also factor in that not all of us have even seen or voted on that poll and that could be very impressive.
The Following User Says Thank You to BLD For This Useful Post:
I'm sure there's lots of corporate factors involved in this. It's easy for us to just accuse Verizon of not releasing the phone in a timely fashion but it's so much more than just "deciding when to release". Marketing, shipments, retailers, contracts, etc. it's a lot more than it appears to be.
However, that said, Verizon should get its act together and be able to pull this all together while satisfying its customers... it has been proven time and time again that Verizon just can't get it right, and the SGN is more evidence of this.
But I guess we'll just have to wait on this one. I'm tired of waiting, waiting, waiting, but when I walk out of the Verizon store with a brand new Galaxy Nexus I won't be complaining about a damn thing.

jk....
By the way, its 1:33AM here in jersey- what am I doing hitting F5 like I'm about to hear some magic news about a release??

Actually, there was official confirmation. Reference the Verizon Wireless screen shot of specifications showing 32 gb for the phone Verizon sent out for employees to use in training:
I wouldn't go as far as confirmed. Like we have seen something like that can be faked or photoshopped. Or it could be a valid Verizon document that 32GB was mistakenly listed on or even an older document and the spec has changed since then. I won't consider it truely confirmed until Verizon officially lists it on their site. With that said with the amount of evidence we've seen I would say it's more probable that the Verizon version is 32GB.

Verizon is that overconfident jerk since they got the iphone and stole a bunch of people from ATT
Actually there was an article a couple days ago addressing just that, and they showed that virtually no one has left AT&T for Verizon for the iPhone. Very surprising, but apparently they have the numbers to back it up. I know, I don't get it either.

Here's my edumacated guess about the internal storage. It has to be a mistake or oversight on the google page, because just yesterday it said 16/32 for the cdma phone.
Here's hoping.

The ONLY thing keeping all these people on board with Verizon is their coverage. How can a company that is so inept at releasing phones (Thunderbolt, Bionic, Nexus) be able to pull off superior coverage than the other carriers?
The Following User Says Thank You to smesx For This Useful Post:
Did you all see my OP? It was copied directly from the google specs page, yesterday before they changed the page format. I have to think today's internal storage size spec is a mistake because how do you change the internal storage of millions of phones that are already shipped here, overnight? It doesnt' make sense.
I'm copying the specs from yesterday's iteration of the google site. The specs are for the CDMA phone:
Tech Specs
Screen
4.65" HD(1280 x 720) Super AMOLED
Contour Display (curved glass)
Size (mm)
67.94 X 135.5 X 9.47 (LTE)
Weight
150g (LTE)
Data
CDMA/LTE
WIFI
BLUETOOTH
Memory
Storage 16GB/32GB
Memory: 1GB RAM
Camera
5MP continuous auto focus
1.3MP Front
LED Flash
Zero shutter lag
Video recording in 1080p
Network
Steven... nobody was questioning VZW changing the memory... just questioning if we had it right in the first place. They never listed the memory on their press release with the rest of the specs. We've really just assumed 32gb all along.

Google Confirms no Flash for Ice Cream Sandwich, for the time being
Quote:
If you lucky owners of the Galaxy Nexus in these first days of its release complete with the first iteration of Ice Cream Sandwich, you’ll notice that you do not have Adobe Flash Player installed, nor do you have access to a download on the Android Market – Google has just confirmed with us that this is normal and that Flash support will only come once Adobe makes the call to update the mobile version for Android 4.0. You currently will not have the ability to load either a new version or one of the older versions of Flash Player for Ice Cream Sandwich until Adobe makes the call to update their app to be compatible with this newest version of Android. Don’t get too frazzled quite yet though, that’s not the whole story.
Quote:
Those of you about to have a heart attack over this would do well to note that it was inevitable as Adobe announced that they’d be axing the mobile version of Flash in favor of HTML5 earlier this month. Then if you’ll go ahead and read what Google has let us know, you’ll see that the story isn’t necessarily completely over for Adobe’s mobile version of Flash. Even though the app and support for Flash will be ending relatively soon, Google had the following to say:
“Flash hasn’t been released for ICS yet so as far as we know, Adobe will support Flash for ICS.” – Google

The phones that the testers and the vzw insiders had all had 32 gb of memory. The Source and a couple of others confirmed that. I'm finding it hard to believe that the testers were testing an entirely different phone, even recently, than the one we'd be getting. Why would they even have a 32 gb phone in their hands to begin with if we weren't going to be offered it.
These are my logical thought processes.

I wonder what this means? "The Galaxy Nexus will launch in the U.S. on Verizon’s LTE network, but the review units handed out by Google run on T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network — the international version."

It means that the Gnexus will be available on T-Mobile shortly after the VZW release.. T-Mobile and Google have always had a strong relationship and it's really the perfect network for a Nexus device considering the lack of iphone

Ok so I see that there is now the 12/8 rumor. I still call BS on this for 3 reasons:
*Matias sounded like he knew the exact date but just couldn't say it. November came from his lips.
*I have a strong feeling that if it didn't come out during the month of November Verizon would be in breach of contract and forced to pay some sort of fine to Google and or Samsung.
-I want to know if the suits feel that's worth rolling the dice to just get a few more RAZRs sold.
*We know that there is no real issues with the hardware or software during testing. Its pretty much good to go.
*Han's sister and the numerous other signs that have pointed to it being this month.
Speaking of issues I would pay an extra $50 if i could have the phone NOW and get a beta sticker slapped on the back (aren't all Google products beta at release ), and sign a waiver that the 2 bloatware apps were not really ready yet, but since phones are capable of OTA updates I could just update later when things are fixed and rid the SW 'issues' they think exist.
Bet on having an order placed with shipping (not a pre-order) or having it physically in your hands by 11:59 on 11/30 [one or the other].

Just got caught up with this beast of a thread... and got an early day tomorrow. The 16/32 gig storage has got me irked. I hope its a typo but with how screwed up things are right now, it would not surprise me that all we (the US) gets is the 16gig model. For now. Im sure a 32gig model would come later.
As far as p3 having the 32gig version? Pre-release. Don't really mean nothing at least to me. The offical page means more to me. Once again, could be a typo.
If not... off to the ledge I go again
The date of 12/8 is a bit of a bummer too. A bit close to christmas and I would fell a bit bad for shelling out that kind of money for a new phone when my DX is still working (with a few reboot issues)
But most of all, I wish we just had some solid info. Something, even if its going to be delayed. Just let us know! Shesh... If someone asked me for something at work and I lolly gagged like this, I would get wrote up! Or worse!
