Mine too. And I am now gonna have to post from the app all day every work day cause the IT guy doesn't like my usage report. I hate to admit, I laughed at him. My spanking is now complete. This is not the first i've gotten in 14 years with the company and its guarantee it won't be the last.

Call a rep and ask. I talked to the guy that has treated me great the entire time I've been with Verizon and is always looking to help me. His exact words were "No, unfortunately that wouldn't apply. If you activated the Rezound, you would have two weeks brotha."

If you can get a rep to honor that, then more power to you, but it will not work for the majority and people are going to get hosed on it. Mark my words.

Everything seems really well put together. Unified is the term i would use. Folders are really intuitive. This could be the first Android phone that felt 'complete'. Maybe not iPhone complete, but certainly a hell of a lot better than previous iterations.

They're all puppies to me.
But I love the info you're feeding us. It's great.

You only have 14 days from the date of ACTIVATION of the handset to return it. The extended return only applies to "gift" handsets that are not activated.

That being said, if Dec. 8 is the day, it wouldn't be smart to rent a Razr/Rezound now.
Any time before the 26th would be bad right?

Well, I suppose there is one good thing about it possibly being delayed to 12/8, it gives me another chance to get a CSR to move up my upgrade date. Last week I sent an email requesting my 1/6/12 upgrade date being moved up so that I could use it on the GNEX when it comes out, when I got a call back I was politely told that they could not do that for me. Perhaps if I try again when it is less than a month I will have better luck (or perhaps just get hold of a more flexible CSR.
My OGDroid with CM7 on it still works, but it can get so laggy that I have missed calls, and if I use Navigation the camera won't work until the phone is rebooted even if I have exited Navigation for a couple of hours.
Besides which it won't even run some of the newer games and apps.
The good news for me is that the screen is still great and there is no problems with sticking buttons, but still it is ready to be retired.

that's strange... the Google people have been saying that mass USB storage wouldn't work, in the traditional sense, because it's all internal memory without any partitions. but, if you are getting it to work like it "normally" does, that is fantastic!!

here's a link to what the Google people had to say about mass USB storage, and why it wouldn't work in the traditional sense with the GNex: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/11/19/galaxy-nexus-roundup-only-16gb-version-in-the-u-s-no-flash-support-vodafone-still-testing-and-no-usb-mass-storage/
Note: I can't keep up with this thread so if I've been ninja'd I apologize for the redundancy. Google said on a windows based pc it works as we're used to, but people on a Mac or Linux based system are out of luck, though they hoped to have a solution shortly. I don't have the link, it was something I read a few days ago. I'm sure its not that hard to find, though

If Y is less than X then people aren't doing their jobs.

If Verizon were to release the Nexus tomorrow then when Joe Consumer goes into a Verizon store on Black Friday and asks their rep what the best phone is, they very likely walk out of the store with a Nexus rather than a Razr.
This is the problem with service providers selling phones. I'm ready for Google to pull out that "What about the open network agreement?" situation and sell their phones open. Then again, the only way that'd be successful is if all manufacturers stopped dealing with the services providers and the service providers brought down the cost of service to offset the higher device cost.

In a perfect world, Verizon and AT&T would be out of this cash cow loop. They'd also be off the hook for customer service on these phones and would save themselves a whole bunch of money. Imagine how much money they could be making and how much we could be saving?

Then again, part of their sales pitch is that they do provide customer service on phones. Stupid marketing...

You are talking about customer service reps who barely make over minimum wage. Seriously, go read the policy from their website. I will link it again below. I specifically like the wording that says, "All other provisions of Verizon Wirelessí Return & Exchange Policy continue to apply."

That's if the 8th even holds true which, let's be honest, is far from concrete. Worst came to worst, you could always pick the phone up and then return it within the 14 days if the 8th fell through. If it were me (and it probably will be come Saturday), I would not buy until the 26th if you're intention is to possibly return the phone.

Sure. You're talking about the company who's purpose is to sell data plans and make profit for their shareholders right-- the one that has exercised their right to wait to release a phone because their executives believe it to be more profitable? Or are you talking about the sinister, sadistic, evil behemoth who's holding a phone against its will and leading you on with... oh wait, they've only made one announcement...

I'm not happy I have to wait either. I'm not, it sucks. But I have no real right to complain about VZW any more. They aren't trying to punish you guys or anything. As I've stated before-- "their biggest fear is losing current subscribers and losing new potential subscribers." By angering you and everyone else anxiously waiting for this phone, what do they win???

Google and Samsung are the only groups who fully have a right to complain about VZW. And if VZW has led them on, or broke any promise with them, then they should make VZW pay the piper for it.

I'm with you on that. Someone always gets screwed somewhere by Verizon. They are good 99% of the time but that 1% leaves a horrible taste

I'm done with this. If you feel as though it will work out, then go for it, I'm just relating what I was told by the person, who stood to receive a commission if I would have shelled out $299 today, told me. Feel free to take the risk, I'm merely warning people of the other side. I'm well aware of what the website says, I'm also well aware that it is worded so that Verizon will have no responsibility in the event they decide not to honor it.

Yes, you've been ninja'd. Galaxy Nexus uses MTPMedia Transfer Protocol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for the data transfer. Mac OS has third party support and depending on your linux distribution, it should work. The problem I see is for other devices, such as a stereo in a car with a hdd. You can no longer use your phone to transfer music/videos to those devices.

This is all from my understanding, but I could be wrong.

Read my last post. How about woodraskam? Who also has asked 3 seperate ones who contradicted what the 3 told you? The truth of the matter is, the policy is worded so that Verizon has an out on you if you do indeed go this route and they feel like screwing you. Really want to take that risk given who we are talking about?

She says that yes, the phone is even now still in testing, but most phones are, up until they release. Supposedly they found some bugs but were able to patch them with OTA updates, and even people within Verizon are getting a little pissy about the release date getting pushed back.

One guy told her they want to "maximize" device sales and that SGN will have a good December.

Hopefully that relieves anyone of guilt for 'renting' a phone. It is just business right?

BTW talked to my csr today. I was worried about the double data plan ending (which he confirmed end of the month) before the gnex came out. He said best option is to come in and buy a phone but don't activate it and lock in the double data deal and when the gnex comes out just bring it in and he wont charge any restocking fee either. I thought I would share although no one was really willing to give out some advice earlier, slackers!

don't worry about it. people are just really anxious for this thing, after waiting for months for it. everyone's more than a little on edge, and their anger is just coming out sideways - at you, unfortunately. don't take it personal - this is an internet forum, and you should feel free to post what you like.

My advice is to have anyone planning on this get a note added to their account about it. From what they've told me, they have to honor that. Otherwise, I don't want to argue anymore, and everyone can make their own choices. I'd just say be cautious on this.

Feel free to take the risk, I'm merely warning people of the other side. I'm well aware of what the website says, I'm also well aware that it is worded so that Verizon will have no responsibility in the event they decide not to honor it.

It's cool man, I just like to think before I offer any advice to someone on whether or not they get a new phone now or not. I would refer them to the Return Policy page and leave it at that. As we have all learned, anything we hear from a CSR, Store Manager, or even corporate executive is heresy and can't be taken as gospel. It's just better to let people see the facts, and make their own decisions instead of blaming you, or me, in the event they follow the advice, and find out you/I was wrong. Even though the decision is completely up to them, rest assured it will be your/my fault in the forum post, when it all comes to light.

I'm getting pretty tempted to pick up a Skyrocket on AT&T and rent it for a month and then return it/cancel service when the Gnex comes out. I have to look into their terms and stuff first though...

I don't have the link, it was something I read a few days ago. I'm sure its not that hard to find, though
On a Windows box the files should be accessible in Windows Explorer, but they may be presented as a device rather than a drive letter. Also, files can't be edited in-place, which could be a problem w/huge files. Example: To change a few frames in a 2GB video, the whole video must be downloaded to the PC, modified, and then re-uploaded to the phone.

Mac and Linux won't see the device at all until you install the appropriate drivers/apps, which may or may not be reliable and well supported by the developer.

Interestingly the PC or Mac can only see what the phone wants it to see, so there could be invisible files and folders that the phone keeps hidden for its own use.

I'll just add one more thing to this "Verizon as evil" argument and then I'll drop it and do everything I can to restrain myself from commenting further.

I want to hate them, I really do. I just can't. Its not for me to place blame when I don't fully understand their business, what their aims are and what their plans were/are. Anyone else in here can feel free to voice their opinion. Its just a little bothersome when things are presented as fact, or rumors and speculation are used to support a claim being stated in a matter-of-fact way.

I do wish that Verizon would make some sort of public announcement. Even if it were insubstantial it would amount to a great relief in this community I am sure. I'm with you all there. In the end, its their game and we're just waiting to buy the ticket of admission.

Well, then that CSR is wrong as I have a receipt that states otherwise-also, the agreement I signed for my Rezound, prior to signing, said the same exact thing.
