So guys, I know this news from Han's Sister sucks, but it does leave open one possibility. If (and its a big if) someone talks some sense into the VZW execs, this phone is ready to go, and release could happen at any time.
Optimism, I know, its a blessing and a curse.

So i just call verizon and cancel 2 of my 5 lines.. My end cycle is 12/04/11. They ask me why im canceling and I answer the obvious. I was waiting for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and i need a phone. She said, " have you look into other phones like RAZR." I said, " yes, but not the type of phone i want." So, if it doesnt come out by 12/04/11, my 2 lines will be gone. I have options. I can add 2 new lines with amazonwireless with instead of upgrading and get better price or I can just import Samsung Galazy nexus and add it with my other family plan in ATT..

I just got off the phone with another CSR and she CLEARLY stated that the device CAN be returned even if it IS activated up until Jan 15 2012.
That's good. Mine here in ATL said no go (that's 2 of them at 2 different stores).
Since there are so many conflicting statements being given out by VZ on this "holiday return policy" the point is to be sure and get it in writing (or a note on the account as wood stated) and just be cautious.
It's all about informing the masses and you've done this as well.

I want to hate them, I really do. I just can't. Its not for me to place blame when I don't fully understand their business, what their aims are and what their plans were/are. Anyone else in here can feel free to voice their opinion. Its just a little bothersome when things are presented as fact, or rumors and speculation are used to support a claim being stated in a matter-of-fact way.
I do wish that Verizon would make some sort of public announcement. Even if it were insubstantial it would amount to a great relief in this community I am sure. I'm with you all there. In the end, its their game and we're just waiting to buy the ticket of admission.
I simply hate them for not releasing the phone the second Sammy and Google announced it

Sure. You're talking about the company who's purpose is to sell data plans and make profit for their shareholders right-- the one that has exercised their right to wait to release a phone because their executives believe it to be more profitable? Or are you talking about the sinister, sadistic, evil behemoth who's holding a phone against its will and leading you on with... oh wait, they've only made one announcement...
I'm not happy I have to wait either. I'm not, it sucks. But I have no real right to complain about VZW any more. They aren't trying to punish you guys or anything. As I've stated before-- "their biggest fear is losing current subscribers and losing new potential subscribers." By angering you and everyone else anxiously waiting for this phone, what do they win???
Google and Samsung are the only groups who fully have a right to complain about VZW. And if VZW has led them on, or broke any promise with them, then they should make VZW pay the piper for it.
who said anything about them being evil?
you've made my point for me, all they care about is their bottom line, which includes the boatloads of cash they spent marketing the razr, which isn't selling well....so instead of releasing a phone that is ready to go they are pushing it back because they can't sell their mediocre product that they banked on....and they aren't just pushing it back a few days, it's gone back over two weeks, to ensure that people won't see it during prime buying time (black friday)
instead of being open and honest about it, they are allowing the rumors to swirl of problems with software, hardware, etc. so they aren't seen as the problem
from the tweets from bmx stating that google has delivered the phone as ordered by verizon and saying he wished that google.com/phone was back because the rumors of problems with the phone are baseless it's fairly evident to me that the phone is ready to go, and now with the info from han's insider sister it seals that fact
verizon doesn't owe me anything specifically, but you can't tell me that they aren't trying to spin this so they don't look bad
so i don't see how their handling of the galaxy nexus is defensible at all, which is what i was saying....if they cared about customer relations they would have made more than one announcement by now and wouldn't allow the rumors to perpetuate....making money is part of being a business, but it isn't everything
communication is the key and verizon either doesn't get it, or feels they're so big that it doesn't matter (which is probably, unfortunately true)

I have 4 different CSR telling me yes and none telling me no. This is going through all of the different channels to contact them, not just one or 2 stores. The return policy also says that we have until 1/15/2011 to return a device without saying it cant be activated.

Firstly, it would be great if people would post links to some sort of a source when they make claims like this. From what I've seen, it almost definitely is a software problem, not hardware.

No, that was talking about all of us acting like idiots when posts like "40,000th" were coming up and we'd post stuff like "Me?" a million times til someone got it.

All I'm saying is take it with a truckload of salt. It obviously isn't an across the board answer, and as such, leaves people open to the chance of getting burned. Like I said, more power to you if they work it out with you, just make sure you have it in writing and signed off on.

Sorry Han, shes not a member of this forum. Therefore pursuant to the Mod's guide and Forum rules shes fair game for skepticism, questioning and unfortunately, name calling.
But CK, I'd cool the rhetoric bro.
i thought that applied to people that put themselves in the spotlight, like public figure status?
i don't think han's sister is doing that

I would err towards politics on this one. Family is off limits, unless they contribute to the discussion, but even then, tread very carefully. Family is more important than this phone, and this forum. Gotta remember that.

Dude, they're a business- yes. Why act surprised that they care about making money? I don't understand how that would come off as a shock to anyone.
Again, I agree with the statement that they should have made more than the ONE announcement they have made. And once more, we use rumor and speculation to found our anger and rage. Are they true? Possibly. But to get all worked up about something you know little to nothing about first hand is pretty sad.

Well on a positive note. The Rezound that im renting from Verizon has lasted me ALL DAY without a hitch. I still got 45% left with 12 hours off the charger with normal usage.
So Verizon is at least keeping a new customer happy while we wait

Just going by what was told earlier, not that I'd go all pitch fork and torch on Han's sister. CK could have made the same point with less vinegar and been more effective.

Interesting... That's the first I have heard of that. It came from Kellex too, but he does say there is no way to know if the LTE version for Verizon does the same thing or not. Apparently, time will tell, but I DO trust in Han's sister. Her info has seemed to be spot on and always comes with the disclaimer, subject to change.

Ditto. Ive been enjoying my rent-a-Rezound since Nov 15. Will be nice to do another unboxing 12/8 or 12/15 or 12/22 as long as its before 1/19.

I am not worked up
I just see verizon for what they are, a money making machine that puts its bottom line before anything else
so when I see people coming to the defense of the poor helpless billion dollar company I find it comical

Is that with 4G running all day, or just using 3G?

As requested by hundreds of you, I drafted up an E-Mail voicing your concerns and frustrations, E-Mailed it directly to my contacts at Verizon Wireless, and called them directly. They escalated the issue and got back to me with an answer, but one that you're probably not going to love.
I can provide the official statement tonight or tomorrow, but essentially it boils down to what we already know:
The Galaxy Nexus is currently undergoing rigorous testing and announcing a tentative release date that may change would be a disservice to their customers
The Galaxy Nexus WILL be released BEFORE the end of the year
I talked to them on the phone for about 30 minutes. I expressed the specific concerns. I even relayed some of the tough stuff that I don't personally agree with... the bottom line is they won't offer a launch date until they're ready. They aren't ready. When they are, they will let us know, and they'll be ready before the year is over.
My questions to you:
If you know the G-Nex will be out by year's end, why is the specific date between now and then crucially important?
If Verizon announced a release date, testing hit a hiccup and the launch was delayed, would you be more angry than if they simply told you "by the end of the year"?
Does this suffice or would you ask that I do more on behalf of our community?
I can post my complete letter here along with Verizon's Official Response once I have it. I've debated publishing this on Phandroid, along with an objective narrative that discusses the opinion of both sides, to provide a more public/visible way to have your voices heard. But in many ways that could be stirring the pot when we've already got our answer.
That being said, I haven't ruled it out as I know many people here want a venue to express their personal feelings/concerns/frustrations to Verizon. I suppose it depends on the content and tone of the response I get to this update.
NOTE: I've locked this thread temporarily to ensure it's visibility as I seek the opinions/replies of everyone involved!
