I see nothing has changed. Although the customization of the software buttons is exciting. I hope we can eventually change the color and that black background to make it more transparent.
Not a big fan of buttons under buttons under homescreen, followed by search bar on the top. Too cluttered.

I might try the stock launcher for awhile but I will probably use ADW Launcher or LauncherPro.

Anyone else think it is hilarious that Best Buy and Amazon have both advertised the Gnex with the wrong name? I think it is their way of telling Verizon to get off their ass and get the phone out there. The best way to correct the name issue is with the phone itself, as opposed to "Hey, quit calling that phone-that-we-have-told-you-is-coming-sometime-in-the-future-but-we-can't-say-when-even-though-we-know-you-are-depending-on-it-as-part-of-your-Q4-sales by the wrong name."

Morning Han.
Paul said you will need a patched launcher to remove Google Search up top.
Seems like I might run LauncherPro and keep search button at bottom of screen -- just my opinion though.

This Friday VZW has some great deals: a XOOM for $200 on contract, or a DInc2 FREE with 2-yr contract.
I considered it, but after my OG Droid, I can't stand another 3G phone. I want to make the jump to 4G. Even if it means shelling out 300 bucks to get something awesome like the Nexus.

The Incredible changed names just before launch. It went from the HTC Incredible to getting the Droid branding. Don't be shocked if a name switch happens.

Are the indirect retailers bound by Verizon's release date? Meaning, if I order from an indirect retailer and they get it in early, can they release it to me or is their release date the same as VZW? Anyone know?

I've been hearing rumors that have scared the crap outta me on my Rent-a-Rezound plan I'm currently on.
Been hearing from people that you can only return your phone before 14 days after activating. Got my Rez on 11/16 so the new rumor of 12/8 made my heart sink...
So, to clear things up I talked with a CSR online this morning (and kept the email transcript just in case)

Carl: I am pretty much set on getting a Galaxy Nexus when it comes out. My question has to do with your return policy.
Tracy: I will be happy to assist you.
Carl: I was in a chat about a week ago with a CSR and she said that I could purchase a phone now, with the current return policy, and exchange it for the Galaxy Nexus (IF it comes out before Jan 15)
Carl: But I have heard rumors online that state you only get until January 15 if you do not activate your phone.
Carl: And I just wanted to get a straight answer right from Verizon.
Tracy: You can have activated your phone, so that will not be an issue.
Carl: Okay. So, say I bought a RAZR on 11-16-11 and ACTIVATED it, I can still return it for the Galaxy Nexus (IF it is released) by January 15.
Tracy: *you can activate your phone. Sorry about the bad grammar earlier!

They probably are not supposed to sell it before the date Verizon says. Kind of like how new release DVD's and video games are at the stores prior to release date but they cant sell them.

So here is my theory for lunchtime. Verizon has stock, and there is nothing wrong with the phone. But from the outpouring of support for this phone on the interwebz, they know they don't have enough, and want to avoid an Incredible shortage fiasco part 2 (even though that wasn't their fault). They are waiting to get enough stock to probably make it through the storm, and are not exactly sure when they will be getting it, but right now Dec 7th (same as canada) is looking promising for a big shipment from Sammy. They ARE planning on a massive launch ad blitz, but want to make sure they don't jump the gun like the Thunderbolt, so are being tight-lipped about it. What do you think?

For those of you out there with LTE phones, my main dilemma is whether to rent on Nov 30 to lock down and get the double data, or hope that the deal stays through the holidays. Is is that big of a deal, how much data do you guys use in a month?????????
Im right there with you. Im going in on the 30th and buying something... just for the 4gb promo. If I get stuck with the Rez/Raz because V doesnt promote their Jan15 holiday return, oh well... no Nexus, but at least Ill have the extra data. What fun will the Nexus be if you're always paying over-data penalties. You might think 2gb is HUGE now, but who knows how that will hold up a year from now, especially switching to 4g. To me the double data trumps the Gnex, but if I can beat the system and have both...

When did it stop being beneficial to build your own computer?
For me, when the sum of the parts got to the point of costing more than the whole computer I could buy for 50% less.
When I was building for me and others, there was a big difference in the final result and over the counter stuff. As that gap lowered, and prices tanked in the mid 2000s I just reached a point of diminished returns. And I bought parts wholesale at places like ASI.
Then laptops got better and cheaper and I got tired of the desktop mess. Then netbooks came along, etc.
I was never an Acer fan either, especially the earlier days. But if you buy one with good stuff in it they are fine now. I have an Aspire netbook with XP on it. It has been to Europe twice, dunked it in water and it still works. It started life with 10 hours of usable battery. It is still good for 5 or 6 hours and I still like XP. I did replace the keyboard for $15 after an unfortunate Dr Pepper incident. I still use it in my truck to do and print estimates and around the house like a tablet. It is so small and handy.
Thats why I am passing on a tablet for now. Printing on the go. Yes I can print to printers on a network, even with my phone. But I really dont want to have to do a router and network in my truck just to be able to print occasionally.
I am hoping Nexus does indeed have Wifi Direct. As that develops and penetrates the printer market, I can then retire the netbook to back up status and go with a tablet in the truck.

I would consider it pretty choppy, viewed on a 27in imac. There is a lot going on in the video, it seems to focus on element fairly quickly, but frame rate seems low. But since it is a phone, I think it looks awesome!
It's also not exactly an ideal filming situation, with it obviously being hand-held and the camera man spinning around on a busy bridge. Considering that, the footage isn't bad really. No tearing or jello effect that I can see, no hunting for focus as the phone moves. Only real complaint is the darkness in some areas - but I suspect that is due to the brightness of the starting point. Even expensive prosumer video cameras can have trouble switching from light to dark that quickly while moving and continuing to move through the scene.

If this is true a pre order would be in order
Do a pre order now with a shipping date 2 weeks from now
That would settle a lot of people down

My experience with them is that they don't get phones on the release date. Although I got a Bionic from one on release day, he had to go to a corporate store and pick it up for me. If I had known that when I visited this store I would have gone to a corporate store myself.
The store I speak of on the outside and inside looks just like a corporate VZW store, but they are only an authorized dealer. Weird. Don't know if this is exactly what you're asking for

WOW! I use wifi whenever I can, but I don't have unlimited. This is exactly why I rented a RAZR to make sure I got in on the DD. 4GB for $30 seems fair to me, but if I used that much data, I would be broke. The Nexus would have to provide shelter and food.

Just picked up my Razr, nice phone, but just doesn't feel right. I had a good talk with the store manager and she was pretty clueless about the Nexus, she didn't even know about the Black Friday special they are having this week. I told her all about it and she was excited. She did say they get training either tonight or tomorrow about the Black Friday stuff. She assured me that I had 30 days to return the Razr and for some reason I had a couple of discounts on my account so I only paid 199 for it. She took my name and number and said she would call/text if/when she hears something. Pretty much the same story as most everyone else. Sorry.

Very plausible although I have a gut feeling there will not be a massive launch ad blitz. They are most definitely being very tight lipped about everything...so much so that it's annoyingly obvious.

impressive data usage! wow. Is this your primary internet throughout your home?
Yep. Only internet for now. (Recovering from a divorce) Have thought about getting cable internet, but I have a hard time justifying the extra charge since I have unlimited data on my cell plan. I'll probably add a hard data line for the kids for Christmas so they can get back on PSN. Nazi Zombies isn't much fun without the internets.
I know, people say I could just tether but I don't want to risk losing my unlimited or adding a hotspot charge to the line.
