Look at HTC go! They're aesthetic design imo has been rather static, but this is supposed to be loaded with an S4 snappy, ICS, qHD SAMOLED, 8MP shooter, and come in at under 8mm thick.
I'm with you on Sense it's not for me I used it for too long. But I think it's eye candy and the best 3rd party UI out there. It's also by far the smoothest. All my onion of course.
And yeah I'm in this GN thing for the long haul as well

To the people that are familiar with sense: Will you miss sense after going to vanilla? I know all the hate that is out there for these bloated skins on android but there are some nice features to sense. Just wondering if anybody else is concerned with going from sense to pure vanilla.

Just reading the first few pages of this thread and came along this post of Han's from Aug 28th. Hilarious!

I read Han's post about his edit too, but it still pleasantly caught me by surprise and also made me lol while I was reviewing the first 30 pages (damn you 3vil!)
It was interesting reviewing the first few pages of rumors. Some pretty damn close and some out in left field. It's also interesting to see the names of those still here and names I don't recognize. (I've only been following this thread since around 17,000)

There are the naysayers to Sense. There are those who love it. Some say there isn't an in-between, but I'm in-between.
I missed Sense at first when I flashed my 1st AOSP rom. Vanilla looked so boring, but I was astonished at the speed. This was several phone generations back though, and times have changed both hardware and Sense software improvements/enhancements. I have the Incredible.
With all the apps/widgets out now you can get a "Sense-ish" look on any Android phone sans some of the handy Sense features.
I'm sure there are many out there who are pondering this switch.

Ordering through CostCo's online mobile phone reseller, you don't need to be near a store -- and more to the point you don't even need a CostCo membership! I'm getting a free case and car charger bundle, oboy.
Hey, I used to listen to a crystal radio (no plug! no batteries!) set I built from a Heathkit. Would fall asleep to CBS Radio Mystery Theater which often scared the crap outta me. There was one story about a vampire grandfather's clock. Skeeeeeery, OTD woulda loved it! One morning I woke up w/the earplug still in to the loud Ooga Chaka! Ooga Chaka! of the song Hooked on a Feeling.
And I brought a high-power magnifier with me (probly strange looks from the staff, but I tried to be nonchalant). Yeah I could see the RAZR subpixels with 'em, but not really w/my regular vision-corrected eyes.
Well I get engaged in tech bickering discussions, but no interest in bashing anybody's phone.
Yeah, RAZR display was nice w/great colors, but for extended text reading I'm expecting my Rezound to be better suited. Rezound thickness didn't bother me in the slightest, and it's said to be better one-handed than taller/wider RAZR. I've come around a little on non-removable batteries (may invest in 11000 external), but still prefer a replaceable as on Rezound and Nexus.
BLUEBIKER...HELP! I have tried several times to trial order a phone just to see if I could without a COSTCO membership, but it always ask for a member number. Is there a special link to order a wireless without being a member?
P.S. I can't get that song out of my head now!

So a couple thoughts I figured I'd share with all you late nighters.
First, just played with my cousins 4s and I have to say the camera is pretty impressive. Goes to further the idea that MP aren't the end all because we took a couple of the same pictures and his pictures looked great and the ones from my incredible look like garbage (8MP garbage mind you ).
Second, with that being said, in looking at some of the pictures posted online from the SGN, I'm not sure the camera can hold its own against the 4S... I really really wanted it to be as good, but sadly it just doesn't seem like it's the same quality of sensor as the fruit companies product.
And finally (sorry I know this is long, but if I don't post it now I'll fall asleep and forget) once this phone does come out, where does everyone go once they close this thread?? I still want to hang out with everyone and nerd out over our different experiences and mods.

Speaking as someone going the other direction (OG Droid -> Rez), I'm not really expecting to be thrilled w/Sense. From an hour's playing in the store today, it seemed like an okay experience, no idea whether I'll grow to enjoy it or just plaster it over with a launcher. For advanced users I doubt it matters either way, as they'll just customize it however they prefer.

CostCo direct Rezound order page still says Out of Stock right now. Honestly I'd be surprised if they did add stock and still honor the $50 price, but I have no way of knowing and wish anybody well who tries.
FWIW, the number I called for their pre-sales support was 888-369-5931 in case they'll accept a phone order or at least give better advice about what's available.
BTW, Cyber Monday is this Monday, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have another similar offer, possibly on another phone. If they have GNex for $99 I'm gonna hafta find a bridge to jump off.

The 4S is very nice and fast. Brother-in-law has one, recently played with it for a while. The camera comparison between the two at Phone Arena showed the SGN looking good to my eyes. It's not a selling point for me so it's a wash.
We will hang out in another thread duly named something like "Just got your SGN what are your impressions?" or something like that. Fret not we'll have a place to hang thx to AF & staff

I really wasn't ordering anything (close to it with the Rezound, but kept seeing the GNex in my head)...but would like to when the GNex does come out...so was giving it a test shot. I just didn't want to fork out $55 for membership if I was just going to get the phone there...still might be worth it in the long run...I'll see what they say when I call...thanks for the info!

In other, slightly disheartening news, Verizon has officially redone the train ad. It now shows an Xperia Play, LG Enlighten, and something else so boring that I forgot about it. Oh well, here's to the continued hope that this phone is released sometime before I'm 90.
Edit: Also changed the URL. It now contains no mention of 111129, or HOLIDAY-SAMSUNG. Part of me would like to be optimistic and say that's promising towards the 29th, and then the logical part of me remembers what the last 2 months have looked like and realizes it means nothing.

Good catch. Verizon is being quite stingy with the Nexus news. I find myself watching unboxing videos for the Nexus all the time and I'm starting to get very jealous of the people out there that already got to open up the box for the first time with all the excitement. Bums!! Gotta stop watching those things it's driving me nuts.

Ah, a dry run. You don't need to be a CostCo member to buy from their online wireless reseller (I'm not), and somebody claimed you can even sign up for membership at a store, buy something, and cancel your membership w/full reimbursement on your way out of the store. That's not my style, but whatever. Good luck CinLou!

OMG you really did thank every single post in this thread. Do you know hard some of us work, pleading and begging, cajoling and occasionally blackmailing for our hard-earned Thankses that are now totally devalued?
Guess I'll hafta start all over trying to win over my new Rezound buds.

Thus proving supply and demand... Such is the toll of inflation of the thanks market. We just keep printing them out.

Good point. We should start looking into reevaluation programs for the thanks currency...maybe tie it to something? Perhaps we can define the value of a thanks in terms of the ratio of steven58's thanked posts per total posts times number of thanks? That way, we can define our thanks in terms of the standard of helpfulness, Steven.
-Nkk
PS I am tired, so if that is totally nonsensical, please fogive me.

Well the Gnex showed yesterday morning. First impressions are very positive, having spent the last four years with an iphone. The graphics are incredible, as is the speed.
No matter how long the wait, it'll be worth it is all I can say. This being my first Android phone, it was a bit of a learning curve, but all in all it is very intuitive.

I was worried about it but to ensure a somewhat smooth transition I loaded CyanogenMod 7. Took me about a day and I LOVE it now. It feels weird to use my Dad's Thunderbolt now.

There will be on topic threads we all cross paths in. And there is the one that we started, in the lounge,
where some of us have posted pics and there is no topic we have to be on. . And once this one closes I want to start one titled "I survived the pre-release of Nexus" (like the shirt a couple pages back)

Living in NY, how did you get one (import?) and is it an LTE version?
The Following User Says Thank You to Ken7 For This Useful Post:
I guess nobody can really answer without getting an LTE model, but what are the best cases for this phone? Ideally I would get a hard, very thin case that would be mostly used to protect against scratches. I definitely don't want anything bulky -- one of my co-workers just got an iPhone 4S and has a case that makes it like two inches thick which is pretty ridiculous.
I have no association with the company - I only know about them because I was searching everywhere for a decent look/feel case for my bionic with the extended battery. Someone pointed out TPU-Cases over on XDA.
Anyway, I've already ordered mine in anticipation of Verizon releasing the phone. I spoke with the owner of TPU because I wanted to make sure that their cases account for the additional thickness of the LTE GNex. He told me that it was actually molded for the LTE version, but also fits nicely on the GSM version.
