I think that it ll not have physical button cause they ll be implemented to os. So hopefully won't be huge! However I'm concerned about battery life on this beast!

As someone who has had the 4.5" Samsung Hercules in their hand, I can tell you the difference between that and my Thunderbolt was pretty minimal. Yes you can tell its a bigger device, but I don't think I'd have a problem getting used to it. I myself will be waiting for the Nexus Prime. October can't come soon enough.

I think I am passing on the Bionic to buy this. Full retail Hope it isn't too crazy.
I love stock Gingerbread, I hope Ice cream sandwich looks similar. Some of the supposed leaks I saw looked like the bastard child of Touch Wiz and Motorola's "Blur" Platform.

Ok, so I've seen the leaked roadmap showing what we are assuming is the Nexus prime. It says it is slated for a week 48 release, which would put its debut in late November or early December.
I've also read the rumors that Google wants it to compete head to head with the iPhone 5 which is believed to be released in October, and so the logical conclusion is that the Nexus Prime will also be released then as well.
Now, I'm reading articles referring to a leaked roadmap that indicates an October release date. Is there a second leaked roadmap that has week 40 - 44 listed in there somewhere. I know Samsung came out after the initial leak and denied its accuracy and that there was a second leak, but everything I see says week 48 on it.
What am I missing?

Nothing. I had the same question. It may have different debut dates for different carriers?

a 4.5" screen could be a huge battery hog. the android manufacturers really need to do something about the lack of battery life on all android phones. it is the only thing that i cannot defend when i talk with someone who is negative about android.

Apparently, there's a Texas Instuments processor currently in the works that will significantly lengthen battery life. It's due 2013. That's the tech rumor.

that would be great. but, isn't the biggest culprit for sucking juice the screen?

I can't wait till six months from now. The choice should be easier then. I'm either going to the Bionic or if for some reason VZW surprises me with the NP i will consider it heavily.
We know DEV support for the NP will be through the roof. Yet if VZW doesn't release it then i need to know that the Bionic will get some dev love. If not i guess i'll be carrying around this OGDX for a while longer.
Either way it should be an exciting time for all things Android in the next six months.

I totally agree. This is exactly my thinking. I can't get myself to swallow an encrypted bionic, though. You know my feelings on that. They are rather bitter.

You know, this lack of "physical" (capacitive I think you mean) buttons has me worried. Is this device rumored to have NO capacitive buttons at all? Meaning ALL controls will be via the touch screen area as in Honeycomb?
If this is the case I have huge usability concerns. Though there is plenty of room on tablet for a UI that has no capacitive buttons, on smaller phone displays (yes even 4,5", though ICS will be used on many smaller sizes) I definitely feel it will immensely detract from usability. Time will tell, I am hoping they leave the capacitive buttons where they are ..

If this phone comes to VZW I will be buying it off contract to replace my Thunderbolt. I've always wanted a Nexus device and this thing looks like a BEAST!
If it doesn't come to VZW (which wouldn't surprise me) I will be passing on this go round of phone (SGSII & Vigor) and waiting to see what CES has to offer
I will be waiting in line at best buy or t-mobile for this phone. I certainly hope it comes to t-mobile if not there better be an unlocked version of the phone .
I have always heard people talk about how pure google is the best and I cannot wait to try it out. I am currently on the vibrant and its alright although the updates are slow as hell.

If the screen is pentile then it's not looking very good. What they're going backwards now. I'm not buying a pentile screen phone no matter how good the specs are.

Nexus Prime on VZW would be epic. Best phone on the best carrier. I was skeptical about it happening, because VZW is so anal about controlling phone content/user experience. There was a time where I wondered if the reason Verizon wasn't getting a Nexus phone was something like this:
Google: "We would love for Verizon to carry the next Nexus Phone."
Verizon: "So would we."
Google: "Well what do we need to do to make it happen."
Verizon: "These apps are required to be preloaded, un-removable, and always run in the background." (Huge List of Bloatware)
Google: "Wait, I don't think you understand what the Nexus line is, let me expl..."
Verizon: "Also, we will review all updates prior to going out to consumers."
Google: "Well Nexus phones by definition get the latest and greatest first."
Verizon: "Well we will be the final word on that. Oh, there is also one more thing."
Google: "What is it?"
Verizon: "Since it is a "Nexus", and not a "Droid", we are going to need you to make Bing the default browser."

Can u plz explain what's wrong with pentile display cause I'm kinda newb!?!?

If this can be believed, it will ship with the Exynos processor. That would be sweet indeed.
I honestly think Sammy will make the or already have made the successor to the Nexus line, but I believe that leak is FAKE. The word Nexus Prime was so forcefully used. Oct is almost here and Google will show off IC and hopefully the phone as well.
I have a feeling it'll be later then Oct. It could be but if we don't see heavier leaks of images and other rumors/info of the Prime next month which is a month away from Oct, then I think it'll be out in Nov-Dec. That's about the same timing of the first Nexus and Nexus S. Then again, Google's yearly new UI and other things are revealed around Oct so yea, it could be Oct. Not to much longer of a wait..
I can't wait to see the phone, but one thing that will make me very happy behind the announcement is having it launch on every carrier that already carries a Nexus phone and Verizon. Even if it's a week apart but all in the same month I could dig it. It would only be proper and smart to compete with other phones that are on several carriers. They messed up sale wise with the first one and then late to other carriers with the last one. What will they do with the Prime III?

The specs I've seen talk about the screen being a Super AMOLED PenTile Matrix display. WTF is that? I was hoping to stay away from PenTile.
Yeah, but I think I read somewhere that PenTile gets less and less crappy the higher the resolution. But not sure.
SAMOLED screens have a great reputation. I highly doubt that they're going to trash it with a crappy display all of a sudden. I think Moto went the cheap route.
The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to For This Useful Post:
I don't think pentile matrix would be much issue at HD resolution. It still has all the good qualities of SAMOLED (high contrast, rich color, viewing angle, etc).

Rumor from P3droid's sources say to expect the phone between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Check his twitter feed for more specific info. Also said that VZW will be carrying it.

The way I see it. I can hold onto my DX until Christmas. I've 13.5 months. Another 4 months won't kill me. For me, it's between the Vigor and the Prime. I must confess, I love sense. On the hand, I love custom Mods. What to do? What to do?

I'm still on the OG Droid. I was going to move the bionic when it comes out in a few weeks. But if the prime is really going to release on verizon i would blow my brains out if I didn't wait another few weeks for this phone...knowing it will for sure be unlocked with the latest OS.
I'm in for the prime...better be on VZW!

Wow.. I remember when you were on your way to 1000 posts and still looking forward to the Incredible Im a little surprised you've kept the DX 14 months

This wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for me... I get my last NE2 in December.
Same here. I was a pre-order adopter of the Incredible so all those folks are coming due around Dec, unless they early upgraded. I've been saving that last NE2 for something worthy, and my focus is now on the Prime since the SGSII got passed over. Better have LTE, though.

Agreed. My preorder Inc is still going strong thanks to CM7. I've been waiting patiently for LTE phones to mature a little and at this point I will not consider a phone unless it has LTE.
Im intrigued by the Vigor. But with how slow updates have been on the Inc I really want a pure android (nexus) phone.

I know this is a shopped up concept of the Galaxy S III, but it's a good idea of a phone without physical buttons. If the Prime looks anything like this, I'll be in cell phone nirvana:
