With a few leaks around the world spilling out about the SGSII HD LTE variant and the fact that there are 2 distinct model numbers floating around with Nexus-like specs, I was just wondering what everyone's thinking is.
My Dinc has been running Gingerbread since December, and though it doesn't have all the bells and whistles as an SGSII, it runs pretty fantastic. For me, a new phone is not a new phone until it's upgrading hardware and software. I won't be jumping ship from Verizon and I won't be settling for another GB phone, so I'll be waiting until Verizon releases a phone built for and equipped with ICS out of the box. None of the Above.

Steven, I don't know if you get told enough...but you're a great mod. You make the board better without being heavy with the hammer. You're a contributor...as well as a mod.
Thanks!

I hope you don't mind, but I added and voted for another option... to wait for another device.
Mind I do not. . . Bow to your green-headed wisdom I do, hmmm.

Get a room, you should, hmmm.

Same here. I will be disappointed if ICS isn't out with the Prime (I'm in the camp that believes we're only getting one of the two models floating around and that we won't get both SCH-i515 and GT-i9250), but it won't be a deal breaker, provided that whatever I get has a 4.65" HD screen with LTE.
Although I'm still optimistic that our version of the Prime will be a stock Vanilla ICS experience, even if it is bloated like Pregnant Pam on The Office.

If Galaxy S 2 with LTE and 720p hits Verizon, I'll be there at opening time. Ice Cream Sandwich would be a nice bonus, but I don't care if it's there or not.
I'm just hoping we get something good soon.
I had the Bionic for a couple of days. That thing was horrible.

For me, it depends on what processor HD SGSII has. If it's OMAP4 or Exynos, I will get it regardlessof ICS on board. If it's dual snapdragon, it would be hard to swallow without ICS.

I guarantee few things in life, but I can pretty much guarantee that it won't be a Snapdragon.
Nothing like sucking up to a mod...never know when you might get banned. lol
Nah...just givin' the man his due. As most kmow, there are mods who can and do abuse their position.
Now if he'll just tell us exactly what device we're getting an when, then I'll get a room...and arrange it so Jenna Fischer pays him a visit!
1) I'm just a plain member who is here because he loves cellphones and modding has become my hobby. They just gave me the keys to the place because I post so much and I'm around all the time. It's kind of a "here you go, loser" kinda honor, rather than being based upon any merit.
2) No Jenna Fischer. Married 32 years. Women=responsibility and a lot of $$ and more stress (they process things differently). One is enough. I'm still trying to get on this one woman's good side.
Device(s): Galaxy Nexus rooted & ROMmed, OG Droid (retired)

Agreed. A guy asked me once how much it cost to get married. I told him I have no clue: I'm still making the payments

Well I have to stand on the other end of the fence about the Bionic being Horrible! I have it, and I must say, other the lame late Auto Focus...This phone rocks!
However, give me pure Google ICS on the Prime, and bye bye Bionic..lol!
I will not be on line paying full retail for an SG2 varient...

Why do you say that?
Every Samsung phone with anything but 3G radios has been a Snapdragon:
* The T-Mobile SGS2 is Snapdragon / HSPA+ modem
* The Celox is Snapdragon / LTE
* The SGS2 LTE for Korea has an unnamed 1.5GHz dual core, but since we have yet to see Exynos bin at 1.5GHz, I wouldn't bet the farm it was anything but Snapdragon
To be fair, these are the very nice S3 Snapdragon with Adreno 220.. not the now-aging S2 with Adreno 205.. but it's no Exynos/Mali..

Wow, this looks brilliant! New 32nm based 1.5Ghz Exynos, which is 30% more power efficient. I doubted exynos in HD SGSII but now I guess this may be powering it. If Verizon's Prime doesn't get this or OMAP 4460 at least and Nexus Prime gets this processor, I will be disappointed.

I'm hoping for the 4470. Im gonna be disappointed if it ships with the 4460.
The next get gen 'krait' snapdragons are gonna be pretty badass though.. wouldn't mind seeing that CPU in the prime, but it looks like it OMAP or nothing for the Google experience phones.

The 4470 is only sampling now.. there's no chance of it shipping in a phone in the next month..
I don't think there is any chance for OMAP 4470 or 28nm Snapdragon S4 in Prime as they will arrive in phones next year. I bet 90% on 1.5Ghz 4460 in Prime but don't rule out 10% on 1.5Ghz Exynos like some rumors.

The original sgs had two very different model numbers for the gsm and cdma carriers so this could be the same way. i think verizon will get the prime and it will be an ics device. Now it may not be stock or a true nexus but all rumors have it as verizon getting an ics device.

True, it's in SGS2 with Wimax or HSPA+ radios. But Samsung announced Galaxy Note Exynos/LTE version in IFA Berlin. So after Prime, we will probably see Exynos/LTE phones with new 32nm 1.5Ghz Exynos I guess. But I'm fine with 1.5Ghz OMAP4/LTE combo in Verizon Prime.
The Galaxy Nexus is the third official phone contracted by Google and the first phone to come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Specs include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, a 4.65 inch 720p HD Super AMOLED... Read More
