I just ordered on from ********** as well. It says shipping date of 12/23. I will post again once I know if this is the one that charges as well as docks.

It looks like a big fat negatory on that:

SAMSUNG

In the case of the Verizon Wireless Galaxy™ Nexus™ (SCH-i515), its thickness differs from the Galaxy Nexus sold in other countries. This means that the Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus (SCH-i515) is not compatible with the Landscape Dock or other accessories sold in other countries.

The docking accessories supported for your Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus (SCH-i515) are:

Vehicle Dock – Part # ECS-K1F2BEGSTD
Desktop HDMI Dock – Part # EDD-H1F2BEBSTD
Desktop STD Dock – Part # EDD-D1F2BEBSTD
Note: Forcing your Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus (SCH-i515) into a dock sold in another country can potentially damage the mobile device and/or accessory, voiding its warranty.

REALLY upset about this. I refuse to buy a dock that doesn't use the pogo ports. That's the whole damn point. Why waste my time?

(Coming from a former N1 owner with both docks...)

don't be upset. Samsung might have been having fun, the code for the vehicle dock supposedly compatible with our lte nexus is in fact the European dock. *shrug*

No, the verbiage all around it points out that the Verizon Nexus will absolutely not be compatible with the GSM docks, so it's more likely that they screwed up the model number in at least one instance. The other two seem different in model number than their GSM counterparts, but all of these numbers are unreliable or incredibly difficult to track down authoritatively.

Also, really wondering about the landscape desktop dock and pogo ports resting on the right side: this completely removes access to the power button and, thus, screen control... what do we do for that?

Ugh.

All we need to get is just one person who actually has an LTE Nexus and access to a GSM-version (3-pin) car dock.

If anyone out there can check to see if the LTE Nexus will work in the GSM dock, I'll be able to make a decision on what to order... I don't want to go too long without a vehicle dock but I also want the 3-pin option if at all possible.

I (and atleast one other person in this thread) have ordered the dock from **********, but it says it won't ship till 12/23, so in a couple weeks we should have our answer. I'd be willing to bet that it either works out of the box, or with a little modification to the dock. .57mm isn't a huge difference in thickness and it should be possible to make up the difference somewhere.

I think you have that backwards. They actually took the time to f their customers by gimping and locking down their products. It'd be easy to just take the docks that samsung announced like the rest of the world. It took extra effort to make this change, which is pretty infuriating.

Has anyone tried fitting the vz gnex into a gsm dock yet?

Also, a word of advice to those considering the TETRAX XWAY style mounts, those magnets looks like they are in exactly the same position as the NFC chip on the back of the battery...so if your thinking about doing it I'd test your NFC chip first, then mount it for a while, then test it again, and be possibly prepared to buy a new battery.

Was looking at the page for verizon's dock and it's interesting that it is showing as 5 star reviewed, when all the reviewers are complaining about it not having the pins to charge it. Its best review was 2 stars and all the rest were 1 star. In the review break down it shows features as 5 stars but all the reviewers have 1 star.

Verizon is full of BS.

Others are mentioning that the GNEX fits in the Verizon car dock pretty “snug.” Mine fits almost too snug. It’s so snug that I could see the volume buttons tweaking really hard as I tried to jam it in. If I put the volume rocker side in first, then the power button gets jammed up. Should I be concerned that this will weaken or loosen the buttons?

Weird, that is the same as the GSM dock to be sold here:

Genuine Samsung Galaxy Nexus Vehicle Dock - ECS-K1F2BEGSTD

This one has the pogo pins I thought.

check out this docking system, it mounts to your car dash instead. I have a Prius & the windshield is so angled the suction types wouldn't work for me. there are 2 parts you have to order if you have never used it before, a car specific mount & a phone specific holder. after that its just the holder you replace when you change phones. i don't know if it has the type of connector you all are looking for, it uses the mini usb, but it is permanently attached so shouldn't bend or wiggle. I've used ProClip for both my Eris & DInc with no port damage.
super nice set-up!

They must have just posted these as I did a search yesterday for them and found nothing. I have a proclip one I bought used, and while it's nice, I don't think I'd ever pay the price they want for the charging one. Let hope someone else comes out with one soon.

No that part number is for the crappy no charge one. Careful I found one on another website that looked like it charged, but they updated the picture and it was the same one as Verizon had.

Verizon is run by a bunch of Sith. I just know they're trying to screw us somehow. And the dock is one my killer accessories.

I can't believe they would even try to sell that one without the pin connections for $40. That's just evil, and it makes me sure that something screwy is up.

I get concerned for the same reasons. People thinking the Verizon phone will fit in the GSM one are probably dreaming. The Verizon one can barely fit in the Verizon dock. I'm hoping after a handful of uses it'll give a bit more. It's like a wrestling match to get it out of the holder once you're done!

I will probably be buying the $60 ProClip mount and plastic welding in a 3.5mm audio jack. That is if it comes out before the Samsung one is available (assuming LTE GN fits that). I also use my phone mounted on the dash rather than the windshield so It'd be nice to ditch the whole suciton cup assembly and still have charging/audio options.

Is there even a "dock" mode in the galaxy nexus? as a temp work-around I am trying to use tasker to put in it dock mode when connected to BlueTooth and have it start a 3rd party app. The problem is, its not going to dock mode so none of the apps are taking control of the home button

I really want a car dock that uses the 3 prongs

Just use tasker to have it go into car mode when it's being charged. I always found car dock modes to be annoying anyway

I tried that and it doesn't work. The car dock apps don't take over the home button. It shows the little wheel in the notification but doesn't seem to do anything.

The Samsung one looks like it uses the 3 prongs as the power cable goes into the foot of the holder not into the phone

I didn't think it would work with the VZW version of the Nexus. Will it? Extended batter?

I will be buying this one as soon as it is available:

Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Google) - Charging Holder with Tilt Swivel and Cigarette Lighter Adapter*-*ProClip Car Mounts for Mobile Phones, GPS, and Handheld Devices

As a plus, it looks like the extended battery will fit based on the picture (plenty of space behind the phone). And if it's tight, nothing a dremel can't fix

Strange... have you tried using "Car Home V3"? Maybe it's an ICS compatibility issue.

Should I be concerned that this will weaken or loosen the buttons?
If there is anyone who opted for the Verizon car dock (like I did) and is concerned that it is too snug, you can cut out small notches for the power and volume buttons to alleviate the pressure. The dock still holds very tightly, but adds no stress to the buttons.

Looking into this as well. I did send off a question to customer service about the extended battery (and whether or not it may be an issue even though it doesn't seem like it).

Has anyone had experience with ProClip charging holders? Do they last long? Any problems actually charging the phone?

In what way is it a tight fit? It occurs to me that maybe the Verizon dock is so tight because it already has the same dimensions as the GSM dock made for a thinner phone, and the only difference is literally the lack of a 3-pin connector. Probably not the case, but it would be kind of funny if it was.

Could be. It's tight all the way around. It's tight on the edges as well as tight against the back. It takes some work wedging it in as well as wrestling it out. Hopefully putting it in and out a few times will stretch it out a bit.

I want audio out to be integral.

Why is so hard for the manufacturers to figure out we want to be able to get in the car, dock it, and have it connected to charging and car sound without handling any wires?

Most us already have some sort of auxiliary set up run to our radios -- I want the dock to connect to that.

I never foresaw a world where the phone mfr would make something like this three pin out connector, and there would be no product to use it.

I find the Verizon mount super tight. So tight that it pushes the buttons when I put it in and it's almost impossible to remove the phone one handed. But the trade off is it's really nice and sturdy. My Dinc mount from Verizon was a belt clip added to a universal window mount - wow what a shaky mess that was.

I just returned mine and gave my corporate rep an earful. Doubt it will help much, but we do have 100 accounts. I think if everyone did the same we might get some action.....

Who am I kidding? This is Big Red.

if i want a car dock, i'd get the one without charging ability. charging inside car is really bad for battery life.
car battery's voltage is unstable, voltage goes up and down too widely compare to home electricity, and restarting engine causes big surge, that mess up not only battery but device as well.
i do carry car charger in my car, but i'll only use it in case of emergency.

do you have any evidence of this? Every car charger has a voltage regulator in it (since the charger outputs 5V and the car's voltage varies from ~10V-16V). Additionally, most of the OEM-quality chargers will have additional filtering to prevent any high frequency fluctuations from getting though.

I seriously doubt there's any significant difference between charging in a car or from an outlet (which can also be prone to surges, like when the AC/heater comes on, or other large appliances)

I agree (unless there is evidence). I kept my Seidio Multi-Charger in my car plugged into constant power 24/7 and had my Tbolt Extended battery in there. I swear when I popped that baby in it took forever to go from 100% to 99% (HOURS). I think the car charged it better

It comes with a plastic disc that you can stick on your dash, then the suction sticks to that. You could also use it on the windshield, but my EZ Pass is in the way so I went the dash route. I'll be returning it, however, and waiting for the 3 pin one.
