So like many on here I'm going to be staying up late to order one. I've gone with an xo screen protector since I've read that the screen does in fact scratch. I'm upgrading from an OG droid and am extremely excited.
In terms of cases...I'm a little lost here. I previously had a seidio case for my og droid, but to be honest, it did not hold up as I expected (finish wearing off, clips wearing down). I was wondering if people can give some recommendations in terms of brands. I've been looking at the case mate one, as well as the otterbox. I would love a form fitting, clean looking case.
What is everyone's plan in terms of cases? Caseless?

i'm going to start with whatever case/screen protector i can get when i pick up the phone, and go from there. eventually, i'll get a clarivue protector once they finally release one...i've had one on each of my last few phones and loved them.

I decided to order the distronic one, which is cheap enough so that I can replace it without feeling too cheated. Seems to have gotten a decent review.

the ditzronic case is seriously one of the best <$20 cases I have ever seen for a phone. its cheap, durable, easy to take on and off, and won't go flying apart when dropped or when buried in your jeans pocket during a night of mayhem

My OG Droid doesn't have a single scratch on the screen after all this time.
I have dropped it plenty of times and it looks pretty beat up, yet the screen looks brand new, and that's all I care about.
No case for me.

the diztronics seem to get great reviews on amazon...i wonder what kind of quality the vzw screen protectors/cases will be. anyone have any ideas?
i'm an amazon prime member, so i can get the diztronic delivered friday for under $15...but i'm reluctant to go without a case / screen protector for even one day. i guess i could go with cheap generic walmart protectors for now, but that won't solve my case issue...

crackers8199: I overnighted the diztronics one, only was like 13 bucks. I think it's worth it even if I decide to get a more expensive one later.
jaxonxfri13th: My OG droid doesn't either. I went without a screen protector a while ago. The reason I ordered a screen protector for the Gnex is because there have been some user reports about scratches on the screen. I've seen that key video too. Don't want to risk it.

that's what i planned on doing...problem is i don't know what to do for tomorrow til the case gets here friday. i know the case + screen protector at the vzw store are going to end up costing me $40+, unless i just return it friday.

I'm planning on waiting until there is a case like this available for the Galaxy Nexus. I find that most of the times I would drop my phone are taking it out of my pocket, so I only really need the case for those moments.
ah...I would skip the verizon stuff, but I understand. That 24 hour period can be iffy
i'm just hopeful that the vzw screen protector is cut to fit the entire screen, including bezel. if it is, i might just go screen protector only (no case) for the first day and be extremely careful...
either that or i'll buy the case from them and either keep it (if it isn't ridiculously expensive) or return it friday. luckily with my girlfriend's work discount (my phone is in her name) i think she gets 25% off accessories...so that will help.

It does not, sadly. I almost didn't put it on mine because of it. But it is a decent screen protector. You have visible gap, but it's not too bad if you fit it on right.

i guess i'll have to go with protector and case then, to be safe...i'll just have to be extra careful tomorrow til the new one gets here friday.
do you remember how much the protector and/or cases from vzw cost?

All of my screen protectors so far have been "Ghost Armor"
I've had a few different phones but have been able to use the "warranty" to put it on any of my new phones for just $5. They do it professionally. They had a machine and everything. Used to be able to do it at any of the Best Buys in my area, now they are just at mall kiosks it seems. Anyways, Def check it out if you want a nice solution. They will give you a new one if you ever have a problem which is more than you can say if you buy the Verizon ones.

I'm really cheap when it comes to cases, I usually never keep them on long. I bought a a set of three cases and it also came with three screen protectors on ebay for 6 bucks.
The cases are the gel, actually pretty nice, and for the price I cant complain. If I knew I would keep the phone or actually keep using the case for more than a couple of weeks I might invest in a more expensive one, but these will do.
Plus it came with screen protectors, even though I will probably never use.
Here is a link, if anyone is using the GSM version, doubt it work for the LTE version.

I've never been a fan of the gel cases. looks cheap to me. I did get a rubberized case for my dinc and must say it was pretty bad. It was the official HTC mad case. The thing got stuck in my pockets, and held on to any specs of dirt and lint it could find. Not really worth it for me.
Ever since, I have been letting my phones run wild in their beautiful birthday suits. Never really have had issues just letting them be out of cases. I'm pretty gentile though.

Yeah me to, that is why it never last with me, well that and I rarely keep a phone longer than a couple of months.
I don't particularly care for gel cases, but it this one fits tight and was cheap. lol

I've had a Seidio case with a holster on my dinc since I got it and my phone looks like it's brand new, so I may give them a try again. I like the holster idea because it allows me to toss the phone in my briefcase, backpack, or in my road bike bag without it getting scratched.
I may also consider the Otterbox cases. I'll give up thinness to ensure that my phone doesn't get scratched; I hate having a scratched or jacked up looking phone.

i bought the other two piece case that VZW had. I like it. Its fairly slim. It does pic up lint though on the silicone parts.

Bought this one too. Kindof hate it. Its going back. Looks nice, but the flexible case around the phone pulls lint bad.
Best buy tonight. I want a plain horizontal case I think, leaving the phone naked. If not, Ill go for the shell case combo from verizon. Its what I had on my Droid X. And the new version has a kickstand included.

But yet I'll always have one. It is much easier to take the phone out of a holster than it is taking it out of a pocket. It also will be protected better.

When I picked up Galaxy Nexus I went ahead and picked up an Otterbox, even though I was not familiar with them except by hearing the name mentioned on the forum. My store rep also encouraged me to pick up a screen protector, but I declined because I wanted to make sure I got the right one for me.
I'm glad I passed on the screen protector since the Otterbox has one built in.
So far I think I like it, with its hard case with the soft case that wraps around it, plus the holster that holds the phone screen in and has a built in kickstand. When I don't have the phone in a jacket pocket that should be useful. I have not had a chance to see if I have a problem with it picking up lint so its possible that I could be returning it within 14 days.
If I do, any good suggestions?

I'm also interested in a holster, but I need to know it'll work with the extended battery. I know it doesn't add much bulk to the phone, but it was enough that the otterbox wouldn't fit around it. The sales guy and I tried as he was ringing me up.

Looks like the Seidio Surface case with available holster is out. But I don't want the Surface case. I just want the Seidio style holster without any case. Just the nekkid phone that snaps into a rugged plastic holster.
I'm using the VZW shell/holster combo and it's pretty awesome. Very lightweight, doesn't add much bulk and with the holster on you're fully protecting the screen. It reminds me of a "poor mans" Seidio Active, but it's much better than the Seidio, IMO
I guess I don't care much about style or about what others think because I really like my Seidio case with it's holster. I also like the fact that my phone looks like new after almost two years and it's all because of the holster which protects my screen. Yea, I'll be waiting for the new Seidio case w/holster; it has worked well for me with my HTC Incredible.
