Yupper! No sooner had I posted on another thread that so far my data looks solid, I went from 4G to 3G to no data...just like my good ol' crappy Charge used to do. Not encouraging at all.
I had the Rezound for 2 weeks and that radio was ultra stable! Color me 'worried'.
Other than being in the VZW Corporate store, I have not been able to connect to 4G LTE. I live about 3.5 miles away from the store and tower and I have yet to be able to get 4G LTE. I did not have any problems with my old Thunderbolt connecting to 4G LTE.
I am now on my second SIM card and I still cannot connect. Even the 3G connection is "crawling." They are shipping a new phone to me tomorrow.
Anybody else having these problems?

I live in a suburb just south of Atlanta where i bought the phone this morning and am work now in downtown Atlanta. I have had 3 to 4 bars of 4g all day long so the signal seems pretty damn good to me. Fantastic speed!!

Do any speed tests yet? I'm going to be a new verizon customer and I live in Acworth, which is included in Atlanta's 4G area. Was wondering what I should expect.

Just did some through the Speed Test app and 2 bars of 4g and got:
6029 kbps download and 954 kbps upload
5822 kbps down and 898 kbps up
Then moved by a window and got 4 bars of 4g and got:
7223 down and 2062 up
Not sure what other's are getting but this damn is fast to me!

How is it on 3G? You can switch between easy if needed right?
3G "crawls" along. When I had the HTC Droid Incredible, Motorola Droid 2 and the Motorola DX, 3G speeds were fine. The HTC Thunderbolt had no problems connecting to 3G and 4G LTE.
Yes, you can turn on and off 4G LTE.

Those results aren't really anything special. In the area that is covered with 4G near me, my average is 15 down and 4 up. This is on a blazing fast Rezound.

I called VZW Tech Support again and was transferred to second tier tech support. She put a ticket in for my problem of no data connection. It is a "Priority 1" ticket now, because there are a lot of other people experiencing this problem.
Bottom line, some people will experience very little or no data connection on 3G or 4G LTE.

I am having this same exact problem except I am not anywhere near home and this is the only phone I've got to make calls with and it doesn't work. I've never seen more than 1 bar in either 3G or 4G (and i'm not even sure if there is 4G coverage in this area).
Can I still use the phone I had before the upgrade to make calls?

Same problem here, too. I pulled 23 Mbps when I did a couple tests outside of the Best Buy but I live maybe 2 miles away and I'm getting little to no 4g most of the time. 3G has been okay-ish though.
Honolulu, Hawaii
Also, I have been getting 2-3 bars of 4G but haven't been able to really connect at all so I have to put it to 3G mode.

So, I'm out of town on business and went at lunch hour to upgrade my rooted, Powerwashed Samsung Fascinate for the Galaxy Nexus.
After activation, I placed a test call and it went through, even though I noticed that there were no bars on the display.
So, I walk out to the car and go to setup my contacts (by logging into gmail) and it switches wifi on automatically without even trying to log in (or giving me an option to put in my account info).
I fired up the browser but, of course, no connection. Went back to work until about 5 and I am trying to not get completely frustrated at this thing.
I've already placed the phone in 3G only mode, which doesn't appear to be helping any. I cannot make any calls. It will usually just sit on the call screen for a few seconds, then make the "call disconnected" noise and take me back to the dialer. I can connect fine to the internet on Wifi in my hotel room.
My Fascinate had no problems getting signal here (4-5 bars all the time). Now I am getting nothing.
When I do manage to get or send a text, I have to resend out two or three times and I get texts in doubles.
Here are some pictures. So far... extremely upset with this piece of junk that I've waited so long for. I'm willing to try pretty much anything to get it working.

4G LTE Coverage
I went to the Verizon store to see the Nexus and I found it to be slow with Google Maps and Google Earth. I asked one of the sales people there and he said they are in an area that goes in and out of 4G and told me to used the coverage map at www.verizonwireless.com/coverage . You must check the 4G box.
According to the map, the store was in 4G LTE area but the speed wasn't great. I didn't look to see if the phone was indicating 4G. Then I checked my address and the colors kept changing between dark red and orange as I zoomed in and out and what was red on one zoom could be orange the next time I was at that level.
Disappointing! I don't even want the Nexus, I want the Note but I figured I could get it for a while and when the note comes out, give the Nexus to my wife.
Can you just go back to the store? I'm assuming no, since that seems like an obvious answer.
If you have to call VZW CS from your hotel phone, ask them to call you back so you don't end up with a huge bill from the call. They were willing to do that for me recently when I was in Puerto Rico.
I call their map generous, my work is in the middle of columbus where there is 4g and im.lucky to hold hold one bar, frequently popping back to 3g. Still love the phone though and dont have tje patience to pray for the note on verizon.

If I got it at a Radio Shack will that make any difference? Can they swap out my phone on the spot like a VZW store can? There are no VZW stores close to here (hence having to go to Radio Shack).
I activated mine myself because vzw employees treat them like feces in the hand of a gorilla, and it took a good 30 minutes for mine to register 3g/4g connectivity.

Not 100% sure, but I don't really see why they wouldn't just switch it out.
I too am having radio issues...I get little to no 3g on the main floor of my house when I got full 3g with my Droid X, and when I go upstairs 4g kicks on, but only 1 sometimes 2 bars with around 5mbps down and .5mbps up. Not sure if this is something I should complain about to Verizon? What do you guys think? Should I just suck it up or is this maybe a problem?
I had data problems as well when I first got home, no data at all but worked when I left so I had to go back to the store and turned out the idiot rep invalidated my sim card with somebody elses who went in and bought a Thunderbolt.. no idea what happened the AM didnt know what he did either but they set me up on a new sim and haven't had an issue with data since. At least they waived my activation because of it
At my home, the verizon map says i'm right on the edge of 4g coverage, but still definitely in 4g coverage. I never get 4g coverage at home. At my work place, the map says I'm in the "extended coverage" area, right on the border to the actual coverage area, and there I also never get 4g. It's a little lame since I left att partly for verizon's lte, and now I've basically downgraded from a consistent 3 - 6mb speed coverage to the dark ages 3g which barely gets 1mb and is comparable to a spotty wifi connection. I might be moving in a couple months so that will solve the home problem but I don't care about that cus I can use wifi at home. I care more about having 4g at work and on the commute there.
I have the razr right now and probably won't receive my backordered gnex until around new years. I wonder if that will do any better. If I put my address into the map form, which is supposed to tell you whether you will receive lte, it says I should both at home and work. I live in the suburbs outside of philly, so hopefully if they even slightly expand the network, I will start to get coverage.
Verizon was having 4g issues a few weeks back. Rumor was thats one of the reasons the Gnex was held up.. Who knows but Vzw rep said they are aware of the 4g issues and are working on a stable repair.?.? Not sure what that means. I guess they patched up some software and the patch on the servers was temp? Anyway report to CSR in your area if you are having issues. They said priority to larger 4g cities and problem reports.

Well, I've had data problems for 7 hours now, so I highly doubt it's going away. Guess I'll try to go back to Radio Shack and see if they can swap it out. /sigh
If you have already done the basics stop reading now.
I had a similar issue with my Droid Charge. I took the sim out and cleaned it with a little alcohol and a clean cloth. I gave it a good buffing. Put the sim back in and made sure it was seated properly. Data came back without issue.
Battery pull while phone is on is also a good place to start.

No 4G issues here. I stopped by a vzw store on the way home from work, wanted to do a quick check on reception. The Nexus on display was at -103dBm, had 4G. 2 bars I think...
My Rezound was at -80dBm, also with 4G. Did a speed test on both while I was at the store. The Rezound was around 13 down and almost 4 up. The Nexus was around mid 8's down and 4 up. Did the test twice. Made a few test calls. The Nexus sounded fine too.
I just got back from a mall where my wife and I had dinner. I know the mall well and the Rezound that I recently returned got solid 4G throughout. Not only did the GNex lose 4G frequently, it also lost 3G for a time and all data!
I'm not happy with this at all. It's just like my Charge was...not good.
While I was on the phone with the second tier tech support, she mentioned they know about the issue and "a lot" of tickets have been filled out in the system. They are all a "Priority 1" status now.
She was not sure of an ETA for a solution, but she said she would give me a call tomorrow.
Well, my 3G at least appears to be working now, so hopefully it will hold out until I get home where I have 4G coverage. Thanks for the tips guys. I will give it one more chance before taking it back... been waiting too long to be disappointed so much. /pray
Man that sucks for you guys! I am lucky enough to have solid 4G everywhere I want today even at home. Hopefully it works out for you guys because this phone on 4G flat out flies. It easily beat the Bionic, my wifes iPhone 4s and my friends Rezound.

Don't believe this for ONE SECOND. Do you have any idea of how many Charge owners were told the same thing? Time after time we were told 'it would be fixed'. There is no fix for bad hardware short of replacing the hardware.
I'd bet the bank this is NOT a software issue. How is that my Bionic is not having this problem? How is the Rezound I returned did not have this problem? How is it the Samsung Charge has this issue as well as the Samsung GNex. Sorry, this is hardware and I sure as hell am not waiting past my return period to find out that's what it was all along. Samsung radios are just crap and I was a fool to think it would be any different in the GNex.

Been there done that.
Sorry, man. I wish I had the solution.
FWIW, the tech rep told me it was a "network" problem. I will give them some time to come up with a solution before I give up.
Good luck with your situation! Do you know what phone you are getting if you return your Samsung Galaxy Nexus?
The Galaxy Nexus is the third official phone contracted by Google and the first phone to come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Specs include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, a 4.65 inch 720p HD Super AMOLED... Read More
