does anyone know how to edit icon text/description? driving me crazy!
pretty sure you cant do this with the standard launcher, at least i havent seen a way. you'll need an app like desktop visualiser/folder organiser/a different launcher.
-edit-
sorry didnt realise i could multiquote,
yes, Minimalistic text for the clock/date

For the home screen I'm using beautiful widgets and I have my most used apps grouped into folders; Social, entertainment, Informational, Shopping. I keep other frequently used "system" apps like market and settings on the launcher.
The little battery icon in the notification area comes from the "Battery Widget" by elvison.
On another page, I just have the pure calendar widget for my agenda.
On another page I just have the icons of some other less frequently, but more frequently used than never, apps. :P I'm still cleaning this page up, and most of these will probably end up in the home page folders.
I can't remember where I got the wall paper from..., but I found it when googling and searching for different nexus high res wallpapers.

Here's my home screen, only app is Beautiful Widgets. It's simple and fairly clean, works well for me. I haven't had time to find/make a new background, but I really don't mind this one at all.
I've stuck with folders mainly because I really don't like the way any app icons look by themselves. It's like the Google designers just blew past app designers with ICS, and now app designers are going to need to catch up aesthetically.

There are many widgets and apps you can download from the market. Many people use Beautiful Widgets which includes many different widgets with many different skins and customizations. There are so many combinations possible that it is probably nearly infinite.
You just have to mess around a little..., or a lot.

What I've taken from this thread so far is that I am not alone in seeing 2 or less bars of 4G. I think I noticed one screen from a user in ATL with 4 bars and I am rightfully jealous.
In minimalistic text how do I get the date like the picture above?
Do a custom widget, add each element, add a line, repeat. each element you add you can choose if it's "standard" "emphasised" etc, and then you can set colours for "standard"... etc.
Not the most unique of them all but it works for me
Clock is beautiful widgets with ICS skin and battery is circle battery with modified colors, like many others have used before me
I don't love the look of the default icons for GMail, Google Voice, or Google Talk. Is there some way to use different icons for them? I guess technically I just want less white so they go better with the color scheme.

they can be changed very easily if you switch to NOVA. there is a link in my post on page 1 of this thread. once you have made the switch, find an icon pack you like and download it, then long press the app icon you want to change, select edit, browse files, and choose a new icon.

i love it. the fact that it was built from ICS source, for ICS phones only sold me. most of the other ICS launchers are skinned versions of launchers made for Froyo and Gingerbread. Nova gives you the look and features of stock ICS while offering far more options. so far i have used it to remove the google search bar, resize a few widgets, change my icon grid from 5x4 to 6x5, and customize app icons. i also love that it lets you long press to add widgets, i hate that the stock launcher removed that feature.

I can't figure out out to make the widget background transparent? Could you help?
When you go to adjust the background color, move the "alpha" slider all the way to the left. Or however far to the left you want, depending on how transparent you want it.

Anyone know of a picture frame type widget? The built in one is too big to fit on how I want my main home screen set up.
I don't have my Nexus yet (later today) but I was hoping ICS was like Honeycomb where you can resize widgets. In Honeycomb, if you long press a widget and release, the widget is outlined and you can drag the sides, top and bottom to make it as big as you want.
Ok. here is my problem.
I want the spectrum from picture one.
But the only one i can find and is in the Nexus wallpapers is picture 2.
anyone see the other wallpaper anywhere???
IF you people want to do this right, follow Solid Orange's example. Otherwise you will have 5,000 posts asking what clock, weather, launcher, battery app etc. and it will get really annoying and confusing.
Just list the crap you are using w/ the screen shot and save everyone the grief of 1,000's of ????????????
Since this is stickied the OP should update the first post to reflect a standard posting scheme as noted above.
Wilfred, can I ask where you got the clock and date widget you are using? I love the simplicity and lack of a border around it.
It looks like Beautiful Widgets with the background set to totally transparent, not sure of the skin though. I'd love to know where the wallpaper came from!

I have beautiful widgets but couldn't find that widget. And how do you make the background transparent?
No and no. I tried Launcher Pro and Beautiful Widgets and they both worked awesome. I regained my lost real state after disabling the home screen google search bar which really upset me but all is well now
your killing me . . . So sorry you had to wait, but....if it helps... My wife dropped hers today (ouch) and its chunked on the corners... I'm sure yours is
Still perfect!
