I posted this in the thread dedicated to the issue, but figured I may as well post this here too:
Everyone who has an audible popping noise coming from the rear speaker 2-3 seconds after any sound stops coming through it needs to go get an exchange. This is a hardware issue/defect, NOT a normal occurrence/every day issue.
The sound was driving me bonkers, so I packed the Nexus up and went to the corporate store. Showed them what was happening. I had no issues exchanging it for a brand new in-box Nexus. My new one has NO issues, and I cannot hear the static or the pop any longer.
As I've said before, I'm an audio engineer and my ears are very sensitive and used to picking stuff like this out. On my last one, I could hear the popping very well at arms length and faint but still pretty audible when the device was across the room. With the exchanged unit, I hear nothing.
I know that the electrical current being passed through a speaker produces sound, but it seems that on some units its louder (and in my case, a LOT louder) than others. If you can hear it, exchange it.

Has anyone else had problems connecting to a bluetooth headset?
Haven't tried a headset but it connects almost instantaneously to my car's stereo. Seriously, almost instantly. My DX used to take up to a minute to connect automatically. it's fantastic.
I noticed (and reported to Google) that (at least on my Nexus) the weather part of Google's news and weather app is broken. Weather will load up usually, but when I click on the screen or the info button, the app crashes every time. Anyone else have this happening to them?
Google search seems to bear out my problem as being valid and not local to me:
When you connect to a Bluetooth media device (headset or stereo), the controls only work for the Google Music application, and frequently (always?) do not cause anything to happen for any other application.
When I use BeyondPod to play Podcasts, my headset audio controls do absolutely nothing. If I go into Google Music, I can use the controls normally. I haven't investigated to see Google Music has a stranglehold on Bluetooth controls (and thus uninstalling Google Music and using another app will fix the problem) or if the events aren't getting sent to the third party apps at all.
Haven't tried SwiftKey yet. I'm a long-time Swype user, which doesn't help here. So, I've been using SlideIT instead, very similar. It's ok, but I'm still on the learning curve of getting used to where symbols are and the like.
I have the same problem.... I was in verizon for 3.5 hours today. eventually we exchanged a 2 day old phone for a new one, same issue. Please let me know if you find a resolution. If not I will need to return this phone.

I am having real issues with tranferring files. It is unbearably slow. I just transferred about 7gb of audio books and it took over two hours. I thought the Dinc was horrible at transfer speeds. This is really quite horrible.
It sounds like some people had it earlier on, and over the last page or two, not much about it. Has people figured out how to speed this up?
I am on a Windows 7 32 bit system, 4gb ram, installed the naked samsung drivers when I was rooting.

I'm a long term swype guy too, its killing me its not available yet. There are versions though if you Google hard enough but they arent official. im using TouchPad but its a long way from Swype
I tried installing the voice commands app from the Droid X via titanium backup, but it just force closes.
I can't believe how bad it is.
This is the first thing to make me think about returning to my Droid X and waiting for something else.

phone power button becoming unresponsive while Wi-Fi is enabled
Hi to all --
I had a problem today with my phone while it was on wi-fi - and it sort of froze.
I say 'sort of froze' because I'm not sure what exactly happened, only that the phone would not respond to my pressing the power button (right) to awaken the device. Yet, my LED was pulsing, indicating received messages/emails. I then attempted a long-press to restart the phone - nothing. I had to pull the battery to get the phone to restart. I've had the phone since Friday - and this is the first time this has happened. And, the only difference in usage between today and Fri/Sat was that I had the phone on Wi-fi since last night.
Has anyone else experienced this problem -- and do you think this is indicative of a more serious problem with the phone (this particular handset)?
Any thoughts on whether I should contact Verizon?
Don't know what you're problem is but mine works fantastic. If it doesn't understand me it gives me a prompt.
So you're saying the voice dialer on your phone is accurate most of the time?
I said "call mom home", it started calling someone completely different.
Then I said "call mom", it said "call mom home or mobile", I said "home", it said "goodbye".
Started the app again, didn't say a word, it said "calling Scott".

It has been accurate every time I have used it. Are you speaking clearly and not yelling when you try it?

Dude... are you not speaking clearly? All the voice commands work perfectly on my Nexus One (stock, non-rooted, Gingerbread). I don't see how or why they would regress.
My favorite one is "Note to self: etc etc" It sends a recording AND text version of the note to yourself!

Hmm do you have a case on the phone or are you maybe holding your hand over the mic? Not saying you don't know how to use voice dialing, just trying to help you with your issue.

I know how to operate a phone, and as stated, this is not my first phone with the ability to voice dial, but it is the first one that does it so poorly.

Man I just tried transferring an almost 2gb file and it took like 40 minutes.
Does anyone know if airdroid lets you transfer a folder as opposed to individual files?
I am stunned that there isn't much talk about the slow transfer rates using mtp. I must have something set up weird, but can't figure out what it would be.

I have some repeating events that I have deleted from my Google calendar. It didn't show up on my original Droid stock calendar (well, after I deleted them, they didn't).
However, when I synched my GN today all my repeating events that I had deleted showed up!
Any suggestions? I know it's a known issue with Android 3.0's calendar as I have the same problem on my lenovo tablet. I thought they had fixed it with a newer version.

I used drag and drop for several folders, movies, music, pics, etc.
I cannot seem to view jpg's in the onboard email app (pop3) account when they are attached. I can see attached PDF's ok.
Also, when typing in certain internet applications such as posts on various forums, when making comments on my andirc app and other similar situations, I get no capitalization or periods added when tapping spacebar twice.

I have the same issue. I know it's not my setup as I've tried it on 2 different computers (One is brand new) and got the same exact speed. It literally takes like 8 seconds to transfer one 3mb photo. It slows even more when transfering about 500. My Droid X could transfer the whole batch in about 1.5 minutes.
I can't even transfer my music to my phone without it going so slow it fails.
LOL I'm willing bet bet almost everyone that bought this phone has tried it out.
I listen to music through bluetooth on my Nexus at least 2 hrs a day and have yet to use that feature.. (Well one time.. accidentally :P). On my Droid X I would use it to ask "Time status" (or something like that) while like brushing my teeth in the morning, getting ready for work.. it was awesome.

1. Try a different USB port
2. Try Samsung Drivers
3. Try the Airdroid app
4. Try Unlock and Root

Tried every single one of those before even thinking about complaining.. I know what I'm doing. AirDroid is even slower & rooting wouldn't really help it either way.
When I tilt my screen only a few degrees, I begin seeing a blue tint across the screen, particularly on white colors (but still obvious on all colors). My friend's Galaxy Nexus hardly has that issue, if at all. Purchased at the same time. Anyone else here been experiencing it? No screen protectors on either.
I understand the technology of the screen may cause some discoloration, but for his not to do it makes little sense. Couple that with the fact white is kind of yellow on my screen and I can see some vertical line artifacts as well, I am convinced I will be asking for an exchange soon.
Has anyone tried airplane mode yet? I put mine in A.M. today and I couldn't get it out. Had to reboot, after which it got a signal no problem. Not sure if this was an isolated incident or a widespread problem.
I was stuck in airplane mode also...had to reset. I also lost all my data (on 3g since no 4g near me) several times as well....the bar symbols were showing but the "3" was missing.
Believe it or not but I saw a post here today that says it doesn't work with ICS
Haha that's funny. It's been working fine for me! Or at least it appears to be? But I rarely use Data since I'm home a lot. Still, when I leave the icon pops up into the notification bar... what gives?

I returned mine for this same reason. I didn't notice my white looking yellow, however I saw blue tint fairly strong. The VZW sales assoc didn't even know what I was talking about, but didn't give me any problems getting a new one. Within 15 minutes the whole debacle was behind me and I was well on my way to getting it back to how it was.

That's a great point XGal. If you're having issues return it and get a brand new one. I did that yesterday because the back was clicking and I was really annoyed. Everything seemed to be wrong with the phone, but it was prolly just me being obsessive since that one thing was bugging the crap out of me. So I came home with a new phone to a Fedex box with extended battery and I've done a complete 180. Everything is working much better now and I'm sitting at 99% with 2 hours of use. (and I sync a lot of stuff)
Bottom line, if something doesn't seem quite right it prob isn't and get a new phone. I think Hans got 3 before he was satisfied.

I recently posted about some issues I've seen so far on a different thread, but realized it might be better posted here.
I have actually experienced some VERY bad lag, but I think this is due to my using LauncherPro. I'm coming from a Droid X that was rooted and it was having similar issues that I'm seeing on my GN, so I'm thinking it has to be an app that I have.
Currently, my GN is rooted and bootloader unlocked, but has no custom roms. The lag I'm seeing is when I'm opening up the app drawer, there is very noticeable stuttering, though scrolling is still smooth. Sometimes switching between home screens, there is considerable lag, as in you'll see the animation get 'stuck' for a second or two before completing. I wanted to make clear that the lag from the app drawing and changing home screens isn't constant; I'm not sure how to trigger it, but it has happened on numerous occasions.
Another recent issue was being unable to change the wallpaper; I could change between a few of the live ones, but changing between the normal ones sometimes does not work. For instance, my wallpaper will become entirely black OR I'll be stuck on the current one, which seems to me that it could be trying to change the wallpaper and simply failing which in turn could be affecting the performance.
I also use Beautiful Widgets and I have seen when suddenly, ALL the widgets on all home screens suddenly crash (it'll give me some error message like 'problem loading widget'), going into the app drawer and between home screens becomes excruciatingly slow, I can't even delete the widgets. I haven't been able to find a resolution for that aside from rebooting.

As an update to my prior post, I currently still have the same G nexus because the store's system glitched and wasn't able to process my exchange last night. I have to try it again this evening, which gave me a few more hours with the phone last night. Performed a few factory resets, naturally it didn't make a difference. The reasons I'm going to get another Rezound instead are signal-related (phone becomes unusable) and can be read about in the following hide tag so as not to get this thread off track.
This morning, however, which irked me to no end, I had no signal whatsoever for several minutes while in a full 3G coverage area which also gets 4G. Got the typical grey bars with no 3G/4G beside it. This is completely unacceptable. Even while in the store yesterday, the display unit Rezound had a -64 dBm signal while the G Nex was at -93 or something, occasionally getting to -87. My typical has been -93 or -101, and even when it was listing as better, the phone would still drop in and out of usability or I'd have to do the old airplane mode trick, which wasn't always successful. Sure, we know Verizon and Google are looking into it and a patch will be forthcoming. But with no ETA on the patch, I can't sit around waiting in hopes it'll show up in a timely manner an fix what it's supposed to fix. I expected there to be growing pains with ICS and accepted that gladly, but not with the basic functionality of the phone. There's a big difference between having fewer bars and taking a vouple of minutes for a GPS lock as opposed to being unable to make a call, use data, and inability to get GPS locks regularly, even when GPS Status is showing 11 satellites being locked onto (albeit for only brief moments). This will be a wonderful phone, but it's just not there yet, at least the LTE version. All that signal play is killing the battery when I'm not home. Switching to CDMA-only doesn't guarantee me a steady connection either.
To stay on topic, here's my non-signal-issue bug list:
- speaker volume way too low to be of use in anything but a quiet environment
- Rotation gets stuck sometimes and won't switch back without exiting the app/browser briefly
- Audio quality of incoming calls not always clear even when the other party is calling from a home environment with no background noise
- Softkeys occasionally fail to respond when pressed
Other than that, my only real complaint is that the rear of the unit is too damned slick. I had no intention of using a case on the phone, but it slides off of damned near everything I sit it on (unless perfectly flat), or vibrate will cause it to slip off a surface. Hopefully third-party manufacturers can address that with replacement covers.

I noticed another thing yesterday, the email widget sometimes does not update itself, only until you start scrolling through email in the widget it will update. I have 2 exchange accounts and 2 separate widgets for each. I get a new mail notification but the widget doesnt refresh itself.
Newbie to android, and not sure Why email shows up on the main screen and also in the "widgets' screen.
Also note I did get email to work this way.
FYI
As a Temporary workaround, I was able to get Touchdown to load, by dumping, then downloading
the newest version. On the setup screen I deselected Activesync and Exchange 2007, and only checked Exchange 2003, which is what my server is.
That worked, I have current inbox mail, and can compose and send mail from the phone

Under the APPS screen it's there as a shortcut to the application.
Under the WIDGET screen it's there to show you directly your email account without having to click on something.

Widgets allow at-a-glance information without having to open the application (in this case email).
I get a few notifications in the notification bar (the one where you pull from the top down). I swipe away from the home screen to see my widgets and they still show the previous email. I then scroll down to older emails within the widget and then suddenly the new ones appear at the top. Scrolling seems to force a refresh of the widget.
It doesnt happen every time, but it does intermittently.

Did you uninstall voice commands from your Droid X? that probably boinked something. I have very few problems with voice dial.
Recently I bought Nexus S and it was working perfectly but two days ago IceCream Sandwich update showed up on my phone and I was so interested. and then I updated my phone from 2.3.x to Icecream sandwich.
But the thing is right after update my wifi stopped working. actually I can switch on or off but I can't see any wifi connection listed when I scan every place I go. I have many wifi placed that I was using before the update and it was working with my phone.. Please anybody help?????
Anybody know where to report this missing feature/bug??
I call it a bug because it's completely missing from ICS and it shouldn't be. My old HTC Incredible as well as other android phones were able to send audio files over a text message.
I also call it a bug because I'm able to RECEIVE audio files (amr format since it's very small) but I'm not able to send any. Weird?
I tried reporting it on google's android page here:
I'm afraid nobody will see this and it will never get updated. It's such a basic feature I'm sure it's a very easy fix. I use a lot of amr music files to send over a text message to my friends and not having this feature is kind of like not having the option to send text messages with special characters like @, *, or $. Very very annoying. I can't understand why they completely forgot about adding the option to send one of your music files over MMS through your text messages.

You might be better off asking this in the Nexus S forum.
First, love the Nexus, and I bought this knowing that it's meant to be a developer phone, and that it would not be issue free. If anything, we all signed up to be ICS guinea pigs...
Here are the issues I've seen/heard so far:
1. If I receive a phone call while typing something say in the twitter app (other apps too), the phone screen comes up but the keyboard does not minimize, so there is no way to answer the call since the slider is blocked.
2. If I am talking to someone on the phone while inside a house or car, and step outside with the slightest breeze, the person on the other end says that I sound like total crap, and that I'm trying to talk to them from inside a hurricane.
3. I actually wasn't able to recreate the issue again just now, but I was trying to comment inside the facebook app using voice-to-text and the output was just a bunch of random names from MY address book. It was really crazy, but it has only happened once or twice.
4. The auto-correct feature in any situation will occasionally revert back to the incorrect spelling of a word, even though I hit space and continue typing. It will accurately correct my typo, then revert to the typo after I hit space. Really odd.
I honestly think you either got a lemon, the file is bad, or the conversion settings were bad. I have a few 1080p 4000-5000kbps data rate mp4 files on my Nexus. The video playback is impeccable, during all scenes and screen brightness levels.
I did try to play that test file on my phone, and it played with no issues at 100% brightness.
Same...in landscape, but if I keep typing it catches up just fine.
