I noticed what I believe is a software bug in Gmail App for this phone. I have 3 Gmail accounts. Each of them I set up with a slightly different signature. I receive e-mails for all 3 accounts during the day. When I reply to received emails or create new emails, Gmail App inserts a signature associated with the account which was last previously used instead of inserting a proper signature associated with the account I am currently using. The only work around I found is to discard the message with the wrong signature inserted and then repeat the process to reply or create a new email. On the second attempt Gmail App "magically" inserts the proper signature for any given account. Pretty annoying especially since on my N1 with Gingerbread that situation NEVER happened before. I am able to recreate this error every single time I switch between the accounts.
During a phone call there is no audible alert to notify you of an e-mail or a text message
I just recently bought a Galaxy Nexus GSM version on Rogers network in Canada and lack of in-call notification for incoming SMS and E-mail took me by a really bad surprise. As far as I understand there is no workaround for this issue. Your only option is to constantly watch the notification area while on the phone not to miss anything important. I did have a Nexus One before with Gingerbread OS and these notifications were functional. They are actually functional on any other smartphone I ever used so far (BlackBerry, iPhone (ugly and brutal but working) and Windows Mobile).

Anyone else have problems with browser crashing on links? I frequently crash when clicking on a link from gmail, twitter, text. It even crashes when attempting to use the Google search bar. I usually have to click the link 3 times before it actually loads.
I'm unrooted, stock browser, and go launcher if any of that matters.

You want to download the app LightFlow which will take care of this for you.

My phone vibrates in my hand when I'm in a call and a notification pops up. It's not much of a vibration but it does. Also on my Bluetooth earpiece I hear a beep when a call comes in.
When using speaker phone with volume all the way up the tones are not recognized. If you turn down the volume the tones are recognized. Example, checking voicemail on speaker phone. If the volume us all the way up the system tells you that the password is incorrect. However, if you turn the volume down the system will recognize the password.
Known issue reported on droidforums.net.
This is still an issue. The trick above does not work for me(LTE). I cannot use the phone keypad at all once a call has been made.
24 hour sync delay when connected as a media device
It's weird. I create a file on my GN. Then I plug it into my Windows 7 PC, which mounts it as a media device. On the PC, I explore to the location of the saved file, but it's not there. The next day, I re-connect and, voila!, the file is now visible in Windows Exploreer. I've done this several times with several applications. What's up with that?

Ok so I just got my GN GSM with a AT&T sim in. I turned on the phone and was signing into my google account. It told me to pick a wireless network which I have. I selected it, but the GN would not connect. It is a apple wireless router, so I have no idea if that is the problem or if it is the phone. I had the NS and it worked fine. If anyone else is having wifi issues please help. I just hope something is not wrong with the phone.

Have you tried resetting the router? It could be that simple.
Already twice in the last 7 days, I was unable to hear the caller. All I heard was garbled / muffled voice the first time and almost nothing the second time. Each time I asked different friends to call me and the second time I asked my wife to call me from the next room from a land line. Heard nothing. Each time, I turned the phone off and on. Both times, the issue went away. I have never had this problem with any of my previous cell phones from Motorola or Nokia. The phone also reboots itself for no reason. It has done this about 5 times outdoors and indoors. At home, the phone was just sitting on my coffee table and all of a sudden re-boots.
I bought this phone from Costco about a month ago and they have a 90 days return policy. I REALLY do not want to return it as I have invested a LOT of time with uploading various apps etc. as well as a lot of other information. MANY many hours worth. BUT I may not have a choice.
Many have written about the problems with rebooting but has anyone else experience the problems with the phone?
Try a factory reset, if that doesnt work and you can replicate it easily, get it exchanged. Havent had any random reboots (mine is stock, locked and not rooted).
This isn't a problem just with the stock browser. I've had it with many apps. On the theory that I'd installed "one app too many", I started uninstalling apps in the reverse order of installation, and eventually, the problem went (mostly) away. Possible culprit for me: battery meter widgets. I was evaluating several at the time.

My Nexus has a font issue where I can't enlarge the font from Normal without making the Mail app blur all the text.
I have a bad keyboard lag.
I have a crashy SMS client that busts out with heavy texting.
My phone intermittently turns off them reboots.
My bluetooth phone connection has a ground hum on devices that connect to it.
My Mail app won't play video files, easy ones like .mov even with mx or mobo.
My battery lasts about 2-3 hours of heavy use.
My email client displays many mails in column view that when enlarged justifies to a single line of text.
My camera crashes when multiple pictures are taken.
Give me a minute I'll find some more. I am running 4.0.2 on Verizon.
I don't have much experience with Android community. Seems people deny the issues and insult the authors? Is there relief coming or did I drop 300 and 2-year contract on a lemon phone?

i also have this reboot problem. Phone crashes on its own and restarts.
Does anyone have an issue with the camera under the following conditions:
Open camera app and be in portrait mode for stills.
Take some pics in portait mode.
Switch to landscape mode and take some pics.
Hit your home button
Run some other app, wordfeud or moboplayer as an example
Turn off the screen.
Turn the screen back on.
Try to open the camera app.
For me, often it shows a locked view as if it tried to open in landscape mode and didn't know how to flip back to portrait. You try to hit "home" and it won't go as if the camera app has stopped working.
Eventually I get a message that it can't connect to the camera.
Only solution is to reboot and then go back in, which is time consuming and annoying when you are trying to snap a quick photo.
AM i the only one experiencing this issue? Stock rom, no unlocks/no rooting.
On my Yahoo mail account (yes I use Yahoo) The title of the email is blurred together with the email preview. It basically over laps the preview.
External speaker is a little low but not as bad as a lot are saying. I am sure a software update will fix this.
Signal strength is off anywhere from 7 to 10 db compared to my charge which was no champ in that area but seemingly better than the Galaxy Nexus. Again I am sure a software update will help. Or at least I hope it will
I found this fixed by returning the system font to Normal. It's a font bug INHO. Hard restart after changing back needed to restore the mail display.
I'm wondering if I should exchange my device while I still can. I didn't really notice this during my first week or so with the phone since I was off work and at home for nearly every minute of the week... but my battery is absolutely atrocious. Now, believe me... I've seen the many posts on here about a bad battery, etc. But this has to take the cake.
Pulled the device off the charger and my circle battery widget showed 93% charged. Went out on the balcony to smoke a cigarette. Played Words With Friends or whatever it's called for no more than 8 minutes or so... by the time I got back inside (it was cold, I promise it wasn't very long) my battery was down to 68%. In 8 minutes...
Now, that was with NFC off, GPS off and Auto-Brightness on. But, even since then I've taken more precautions to try and conserve battery, including a task killer (which helped a bit), altering WiFi settings, turning off live wallpaper, and reducing the amount of widgets I used. Battery life has increased a tad, but I'd still go as far as saying it'd last about an hour off the charger if in use. Maybe 3 hours if not used as much.
Should I take it back? Live with it? Buy an extended battery (which I've heard isn't very "extended")? Please help, this is a little more extreme than most battery issues I've heard.

I noticed (and reported to Google) that (at least on my Nexus) the weather part of Google's news and weather app is broken. Weather will load up usually, but when I click on the screen or the info button, the app crashes every time. Anyone else have this happening to them?
Yes the news/weather icon is busted, weather no good on mine
as echoed on pages 2-3, my keyboard freezes on the screen at times; also in instances when there's an incoming call and I can't slide the button across as the keyboard is covering it
I am on my 2nd Gnex, both have the issue where the person i'm talking to can't hear me. Also I have had a few uncommanded reboots. including one this morning, where it just restarted while the phone was locked and the screen off.
Was on day 12 of 14 that I had to exchange my Nexus with Wirefly and had to do it. Was dropping service randomly a couple of times a day. Hopefully the second one is better...
Rebooting issues galore. I'd say I get an average of 6 or 7 reboots while I'm on the golf course using the Skydroid app. Considerably less when I'm not using it, but it still happens.
Not using the app IS NOT AN OPTION. I never had any issues with it ... EVER ... while using my old Dinc. What is the problem, Samsung?

I had reboot problems literally from day 1. I ended up having to reset to factory and its never happened again. I guess it must have been something in my initial app load that wasn't compatible. It was driving me crazy as well. Very happy now :-)

The problem is in the app not the phone. I picked mine up on launch day and have never once had a reboot.

I would say the app is having ics issues. It probably reboots on any ics phone. I agree its up to the app developer to make it compatible since eventually all new androids will be ics or higher.

Perhaps the app doesn't play as nice as I'd like with ICS but that's not the underlying problem. The phone reboots even when I'm not using the app. Not nearly as much, but it still does it an average of 5 to 6 times per week.

Unacceptable.
Scratch that. Checked the developer's website and it's been updated for all versions of Android up to and including ICS. Defective Nexus perhaps?

I don't know when you last, if ever, loaded your rom but i would try going back to stock or reset to factory and then reload apps in a very controlled manner. I would clear everything you can in the process. I suspected my hardware for the same reasons and it literally never reboots now.

I have the same issue on my CDMA version. I usually have to end the call, reboot the phone and call the person back. I will have all bars for signal, 4g etc. and others can't hear me. If I have to hear my boss tell me my phone sucks again I'll probably freak out!
My laggy keyboard is awesome when it works. I have many occasions where no text will show. I have to close my texting app, browser etc restart it and hope I can use the keyboard.
I have also experienced the random re-boot on a few occasions.
Verizon doesn't really care, call customer care, talk to them, they have someone from tech support get on the line, they tell me they will call me back then never do.
Love the phone but the quirks are enough to make someone crazy.
A friend of mine and I bought the Samsung Nexus, his keep turning off by itself after a couple of hours. Mine turned off completely while charging and can not restart. I took mine to Samsung Customer Service Center in Vietnam and was told that they did not sale this phone in VN therefore they can not repair it.
As of yesterday my facebook notification ( within the app ) are broken. I cannot click them. I can click the notifications from my tray when NOT using the facebook app, but once I am inside facebook I cannot interact with the notifications, rendering the app nearly useless. Happened without any sort of update or change, just started happening on it's own. Other members have posted about the same issue as of yesterday.
So you're saying the voice dialer on your phone is accurate most of the time?
I said "call mom home", it started calling someone completely different.
Then I said "call mom", it said "call mom home or mobile", I said "home", it said "goodbye".
Started the app again, didn't say a word, it said "calling Scott".
I rarely had these issues on the Droid X
Also upgraded from DroidX to the Galaxy Nexus and have the exact same issue as pool_shark. Bluetooth voice dialing is incredibly inaccurate, and appears to be a reported issue on google's own forums.
Battery life isn't all-day like my droidX (both with extended battery), and these two are my only gripes. The voice calling may be catastrophic, unfortunately - It's a must have for me. We'll see; I've only had it a week.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
Yes, stock voice dialing is completely worthless as described especially with no verification feature. I've been using the cyberon voice commander voice dialer with ICS and it's been working pretty darn well plus it has verification before it dials.
Han, you so right. Top of Nexus phone gets extremely hot. So much so that it became painful to hold to ear during call recently. Will read on to see if anyone has similiar issue as self and wife's Nexus phones.

Strange especially with two phones. Mine barely even gets warm even with videos etc.

This happened to me a few weeks ago. Seemed to right itself randomly. I rebooted, cleared the cache of the FB app but this didn't seem to do it.
Here's the only issue I'm having with my SGN, and it's one that quite frankly I don't care about 99% of the time. However, the 1% I do want it, it's very fustrating:
Nothing I do on facebook mobile works. Can't upload pictures. Can't update status. Can't "check in". Can't do anything. The only thing I can do is get past the log in screen. Whenever I scroll through the timeline thingy, it freezes and gives me "Unfortunately, Facebook has stopped working."
Anyone else had this? It sounds like nobody has. Could it be my phone? This one stupid feature is really making me mad...
I just downloaded FB 1.9.0 on my S2 running ICS 4.0.3 and I can open the FB app but if I try to update my status or try to make any sort of comment I get the same error.
I've uninstalled and re-installed, even tried to restore factory settings but I still can't get it to work.

I just had to upgrade my phone from DroidX to the Nexus. My DX would restart itself several times a day, wouldn't let me answer calls, sometimes let me make calls and suddenly stopped working with to all my Bluetooth devices all within a week. I was about to go out of town and suddenly my phone refused to cooperate. After several reboots and resets, I gave up. It was software and VZW was a pain to deal with. I just upgraded to 4G because they don't seem to want to support any 3G users, apparently.
Now I have Nexus. 1 restart so far. I have the above FB issue and with another app as well. The apps I need for work are all flawless, so that's a plus.
I also have huge battery life issues. Had to buy a charger today because my battery ran out before noon just responding to emails. Grrrr... The guy @ Verizon told me 4G eats the battery life. He told me to switch to 3G if I don't need super fast browsing. I changed settings after I charged it and battery life seemed more stable. I'll see how the next few days go.
It seems to me no phone of mine is any good after 18 months. I think they have an internal combustion setting. I'm of the mind that no smart phone is problem free and i just need the one that sucks the least. Here's hoping.

Androids are not for everyone. I love mine but YMMV. You sound like you may be happier with an Iphone next. They are more for people who want problem free
The Following User Says Thank You to ncguy2 For This Useful Post:
I love this phone, and haven't found most of the issues reported here (I believe CDMA and GSM are 2 very different phones), but I have to say it took me 1 month to find a way to backup the sdcard.
First of all, this is only a virtual card: it retained the name but it's part of internal memory. Good, I've seen other phisical cards jammed for drop, humidity, etc.
Second, the phone connected to USB will appear as Media Device, or Camera. So the attributes will be Author, or Date Taken, and it is not a file system, so forget using a sync program or such.
The file tranfer, as reported by others, is unreliable, changes don't appear on PC.
Unfortunately, there was an option on Recovery to mount the sd as USB guest, but never worked, and now is dropped in latest release.
The only option I found was using "adb pull", it's fast and reliable but changes the dates of the files, and not very easy for selective restore.
Surely this new approach chosen by Google is evolutive, and will prove advantageous in the future, but for now is a big problem.
I only wish a good implementation of USB in CWMR
