Random input...i had XO on my iphone 4s. The impression above is accurate. It is crystal clear and no orange peel effect, BUT sticky! It was cumbersome typing out text messages because the screen was not smooth (aka sticky). Did not feel right IMO.

In addition, the solution bottle failed after the 3rd pump...in the middle of me wetting the protector. I got it on anyways. And when i emailed them to inform them that my bottle failed...no response. Oh well, i eventually yank it because the protector made my screen too sticky.

I now have the Otterbox screen protector that comes with their commuter cases. Awesome! Dry application...and smooth as glass. It is a fingerprint magnet however, but that's ok...i can text just like i had no protector at all.

I have tried the XO skin on my Verizon Nexus phone. It seems to be to thick and it does not let your fingers glide as if it were glass.
I pull it off and toss it.

PS. Sorry for posting in the GSM thread about a Verizon phone.

This is why I'm waiting for the SGP ultra crystal ones. Maybe the Flex is just as good??? I really want it to have the glass feel to it. Zaggs definitely do not, but I've heard XOs are better.

Apparently not better enough. Thanks for the input.

I don't think this is a GSM forum - I think this one is generic and the other is Verizon. Hence the Verizon one being a subforum to this one.

So don't feel bad. I have a feeling 95+% of us posting in this forum are VZW

I received my skin last night and installed it without too much trouble. Admittedly, I have never used a screen protector before, but all the hype early on in this thread along with the coupon convinced me to try it.

Application was fairly easy. I managed to get a clean install except for one tiny bubble in the bottom, right that I couldn't work out before the screen dried in place. It's not horrible since it's not in a usable area of the screen but I see it. Other than the bubble, just by looking at the phone you would never know there was a protector.

I agree with others that the screen is NOT as smooth as the uncovered screen, but it does handle fingerprints well, the screen still looks as amazing as ever and the protector is not so "sticky" as to make the touchscreen unusable.

I'll probably keep mine on long enough to see if the bubble disappears (their FAQ claims many small bubbles and other "imperfections" clear up in 24-48 hours). I showed the phone to a friend at work this morning and he didn't know there was a protector so perhaps I am being overly critical.

I had skinomi skin on mine but couldn't stand the quality of it. So after watching this thread, I jumped in to get xo skin and installed it just yesterday night. So it's little over 12 hrs since installed.

I had alot of major bubles when i first installed, but now they are all gone. (I usually run a movie on it with volume down to cure it faster) Screen is still somewhat hazy?..if this is what they are called...on a very bright scenes or white webpages. I am almost sure this will go away though.

Below is my 2cents comparing it to skinomi skin.

Despite the skin not perfectly covering the screen same as skinomi skin(around 1mm shorter in height and width) it looks better for some reason. It is hard to see where are the edges of the skin.

Xo skin is alot more resistant to oil from the finger than skinomi. It has alot less orange peel look. You can't see orange peel look unless you look hard for it under the reflective light.

Like the other owners said, this skin is very tacky/sticky first, but now they are smoother, but not as smoother than probably other skins.

All in all, I am satisfied so far. it is better than skinomi skin imho. I'll follow up few days later after skin fully cures.

So I put the phone in my pocket today with my company badge. I've never had an issue with this before as there are no sharp/metal edges on the badge to scratch the glass of the phone. But today I had a problem with the badge "sticking" to the screen protector and then when I removed it, I had "dings" in the protector. On a whim, I touched the protector lightly with a fingernail and it left an indention. Now my screen is covered with minor "blemishes".

What are the benefits of these skins again? I never had any real problems with scratches going back to the OG Droid and I'm thinking I may have been better off with a naked screen...

I've had a longtime aversion to skins for this reason. Kind of like the old joke about why don't they just make the plane out of the black box material, I often wonder why they don't just make the screen out of screen protector material.

But I guess one benefit is you can change the screen protector if it gets scratched up.

I've never had a problem with scratch screens.

That's exactly the reason why screen protectors exist. A cheap replacement alternative to replacing the glass. Plus with one investment you can get screen protector replacements for life (minus shipping cost).

you can bet more than a few of those people in this forum with hairline scratches on their nexus wished they spent 10 bucks to get one. So many people here demand perfection from the nexus but wont take steps to protect it.

I had a speck hard shell case on the bottom of my macbook pro for 3 years. Lets just say the hard shell has tons of scratches that would have scratched and worn the bottom of my aluminum case from my pants/belt buckle.

Agreed Way cheaper than replacing a $100+ screen

I have never been a fan of screen protectors, but the XO stuff seems to be decent. It is a bit sticky, but it is no where near as rubbery as the Zaag stuff. Quality stuff at a reasonable price. I still think they need a new website, but the product is more important.

BTW... I rubbed the screen protector on my jeans to clean up some oil, and it produced very minor scratches. They are not visible when the screen is on, but it is odd that my jeans can lightly scratch the film when they advertise taking a demel to it.

Just warm it up with a blow drier and rub them out. They heal like a gummy bear

Did that help?
Using the spray and rubbing it out seems to help too. Someone else tried that in another topic. The hard ones don't heal XO does.

Is this a good skin to order? I am looking into one for my new phone. Last phone I had I wasn't using a screen protector and it ended up being scratched then dropped it and cracked the screen pretty bad.

I have been happy with them. They don't have orange peel like a lot of others. It will help with drops, but wont make it bullet proof. A otterbox is a great combo with it

Orange peel? That like bubbles or something? Just barely learning about the android phones and what not. Had a sidekick style phone up until now.

Yikes that is gnarly. Now you are saying that the XOSkin doesn't end up looking like that on the screen?

^ It doesn't have that effect, can't even tell there is a skin on, and it will be less rubbery over time.

I'm trying to purchase the Xo skin, but I don't see where you can input the coupon code.
I clicked on Pay with PayPal and it took me to checkout but I did not proceed.
Can anybody please let me know where to put the code?
Thanks in advance.

@id_mew I just ordered mine with the discount code. I didn't use the first pay pal option, I went down to the bottom and went to check out than used the code then selected PayPal. Hope this makes sense.

---LONG READ---

Using PayPal you have to enter the code in one of the later screens that pops up. If you don't see the code box before the next screen that says “complete order” (or something of the sort) then you missed it and you need to backtrack.

So what codes are you using currently? I used (sprintxo) and it gave me 30% off. Total was $12 and change.

OK, so I got my XO on yesterday and am very impressed. I am very meticulous, very detail oriented and don't except anything that will allow any type of separation between the screen and protector. I sprayed both sides as the directions stated but I ended up spraying the sticky side (the side that meets the screen) quite more then the directions say to. Because of this the protector did slide around but it allowed for squeegeeing and adjustment. Eventually while keeping my finger firmly in place on the screen and squeegeeing around my finger it eventually gained some resistance to the point where I didn't need to keep my finger pressed on the screen. This allowed me to get perfect placement of the screen. I then continued to spray the screen from a distance to mist the screen followed by squeegeeing. I repeated this several times until I got all the bubbles out. I let the phone sit for a few hours (battery out). I then took a look at the screen and noticed some bubbles appeared to show up. About six small bubbles in total. I then sprayed the screen and used the squeegee and concentrated on these areas, using the corner of the squeegee. Now keep in mind that by doing this I noticed that I put small indentions where I attempted the get these bubbles out. I was successful in getting these bubbles out but 12+ hours later I still see those indentions. They are by no means very noticeable at all but they are there and you can see them ever so slightly at the right angle. I’m hoping over time they will heal themselves.

Moving forward with this screen protector on, I do have a few concerns. How well can I expect XO to heal itself? I compare it to a Zagg that I had on my Incredible. It healed very well. A friend of mine has a Zagg on his Nexus and I have to say, it is not healing anywhere as close to my Incredible Zagg did. To the point where he is going to return it. This is the reason I stayed away from Zagg this time. Compared to the Zagg the XO has far less orange peel. With the XO the limited peel it has seems to be more linear were as the Zagg was blotchy. The stickiness doesn’t effect the functionality of the phone and isn’t very noticeable. No comparison to the Zagg as it was very sticky. My intent wasn’t to do a comparison but it seems that is the way it’s turning out. I thought this would give more insight for people that are familiar with both types of protectors. For those of you not familiar with Zagg just disregard where it comes up.

I hope this gives better insight for those who are still on the fence that are considering an XO screen protector. After my first 12 hours with it I’m impressed with the look, feel and functionality of it. I do recommend it. We will see further on how it holds up.

The next device you install a skin one, if bubbles appear after a bit, just let them dry. They work themselves out. It should heal up pretty well, you just may notice a tiny difference in that spot in just the right light, but from my experience it heals from everything.

Ok, here's my experience. I installed the xo skin (full screen size) Friday night around 11pm. The hardest part was keeping it aligned while trying to squeegee the excess water out. Everything was going good till right at the end, it bunched up at the top and I had to lay it back down and realign. Totally my fault. Once I got the skin realigned I stopped fooling with it. Needless to say it looked pretty bad at this point, bubbles and haze. I had read in another post to not try to get all the bubbles out and to let it just sit. I really thought I had messed up. Went to bed and when I got up yesterday morning, there were just a few tiny bubbles at the top and some bigger ones through out the rest of the screen. I put the battery back in and put my case back on.

During the day I was amazed at how the bubbles disappeared and the others kept getting smaller. This morning all bubbles are gone. It is very slick and smooth. I can't see any orange peel effect at all. I can not even tell there is a screen protector on.

As for the texture of the xo skin, I find it is pretty slick. There might be some very very small grippiness to it but I don't really notice it. The xo also seems to be helping with fingerprints. Very minimal. Also wiping the screen off is easy, I always use a microfiber cloth.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to share my experience. I would definitely purchase again. Highly recommend!

How much does this actually help with fingerprints/smudges (vs. no screen protector)? Thanks

I used xoskin first when I got GNex, but i didnt like the feel (sticky and plastic) so i got rid of it and replaced with zagg... zagg... had orange peel all over it so i used verizon stock screenprotector.. and edges of screen torn out after using 1 week.
I guess taking in and out of pocket caused that.
so i re ordered xoskin again and used it for about a month now..
i feel less sticky (or my finger got used to it) so im keeping this one..

Yes side by side with a screen, you can tell how well it hides fingerprints. Their video shows that. XO Skins Screen Protectors - YouTube

I got one for my Canon T2i, looks like the code is only good for once. I just created a new account and it worked again.

I have noticed it goes away after a few days.

I will have to try that tomorrow. I put an XO on my tablet today and when i gave it a wipe with a paper towel it left 2 huge scratch marks on it.

Went ahead and put my phone skin on and made sure i used a cloth this time.

Im not sure im happy with the feel.

As far as im concerned the main differences between an XO skin and a 50c ebay screen protector are
1. XO is easier to get on accurately. Yes its technically a longer process, but it allows fir some room for error.
2. Ebay protector feels better and still looks crystal clear if clean.
3. XO fits the gnex's curved glass better. Not a major concern, but a plastic protector will let in dust at the bottom edge where its curved cos it wont stick on properly.
4. Ebay protectors feel better imo. Once they get a slight layer of oil from your fingers theyre smooth as...

As far as my usage goes with how i treat my gear, i'll probably stick with a cheapo protector next time. But its definately a quality product. If i had a device that had a complte covering skin available, i would probably consider XO again.

Perhaps everyone's experience is different, but if these are all the same, I can't say the sticky feel "goes away" after any amount of time. It definitely does get better with time, though, and while it won't be as slick as the glass, the stickiness gets far less noticeable over time. I still believe the XO Skins is the best screen protector I've ever used, but I have not used a Steinhell, which I hear are excellent as well.

I thought it was over $200 from Samsung directly, especially for the vzw model.

XO is my new screen protector of choice. Mirror finish is amazing, unlike the orange peel ones! I have bad allergies, and I actually use my phone to help guide eye drops at work.... can't do that with the orange peel ones.

Better to spend a few bucks to protect the screen then to have scratches that you can't live with later!

I've had my XO on since Sunday afternoon and I like it so far. I had the screen protector that came with my Diztronic case on it before and actually really loved that one. It was crystal clear and felt like it was naked. It also went on really easy. It showed fingerprints fairly good but that didn't really bother me. However, I dropped my phone on the street and it got a couple dents/scratches in the Diztronic screen protector so I took it off and thought I would try out an XO.

The XO application was fairly easy. I've had ZAGG protectors on other phones/devices before so I was used to the wet application process. All my bubbles were gone in a few hours pretty much. I just put the screen on and set it on my window seal in the sun light. I know they say that its recommended to wait at least 12 hours or more to really let the bubbles out but I think turning the baby on and letting it heat up works the bubbles out quicker.

I am kind of disappointed with the feel of the screen but I think it will smooth out after time. It's definitely not a deal breaker for me. The screen, for me at least, isn't as crystal clear as everybody else is saying. I have a slight orange peel/hazy appearance to it, but its hardly noticeable under most conditions.

I really like the XO for the fact that I did have some minor scratches on my Nexus screen. I slapped the screen protector on and it instantly filled up the old scratches to where they aren't even noticeable anymore.

I would definitely recommend this screen protector to anyone. I will try it out for a month or so and see if the stickiness goes away. If it doesn't I might have to find one similar to the one I had on it before. That screen protector was awesome. The XO is pretty awesome as well though.

If I'm in a hurry, I'll use a blow drier. If not I just leave it on my dresser over night.

Also, if you get a little scratch on the protector, you can help it go away faster by warming it with a blow drier, spraying a little of the application spray on it and rubbing it out.

Installed my XO Skin last about 15 hours ago and most of the large bubbles have worked themselves out. TIP: Don't try to work them out after it has dried for a bit just leave it alone and they go away. I tried to fix a few and now it has some blemishes around where the bubbles were.

My biggest concern with this protector is the grainy look it is giving to the screen. Looks like crystalized brush strokes. It is on 60% of the screen.

I have attached a pic that will hopefully demostrate this. Will this go away after time or is this how it always looks? Installation error perhaps?

If this is how it is, it will be coming off.

EDIT: the strokes I'm talking about are on the left side of the screen. They are vertical from top to bottom covering 60-75% of the screen left to right. THe only "clear" area is on the right. The right isn't perfect, but it's almost tolerable.
