Does it link or let you link the FB contact to a Google contact? The description and reviews seems unclear on that.
When you follow the procedure to sync it downloads all your facebook friends to your phone with their pictures in high res. Then you can merge them to the contacts you already have on your phone

I'm reading this as name and pic only?
What about phone number if it's avail and email? <--- this is more important than pics to me.
For some reason I CANNOT get this app to download. Everything else downloads fine, but this hangs at "Starting Download". Tried clearing the market cache and data, also emailed to have the purchase canceled, then repurchased with a different card but no luck.
I found a great time saver when linking these accounts. Once you have set up the sync options clear you contacts data in the app settings for contacts and let the phone re-sync. Since these pictures are the only ones in the android system at the moment they started to sync without manually going into each one.

Anyone have similar issues?
I did. For whatever reason it wouldn't download, but I just left it in my queue. It just completed 3 hours after I purchased.

i think i installed the app? should i have an icon on my apps list? when i go to facebook i can't find a apps&sync selection in account settings. all i see is apps & websites.
HaxSync allows you to sync your Facebook friends with your Android 4.0 device! This gives you an experience similar to the Google+ one, complete with status-updates and high-resolution contact images in the People App!
How to use:
1.) Install official Facebook App.
2.) Go to System Settings => Accounts & Sync (Android Settings, not Facebook App Settings).
3.) Click "Add Account" => HaxSync.
4.) Click "Authorize HaxSync".
5.) Confirm Authorization
6.) Wait for HaxSync to finish syncing.
7.) You should now see your Facebook contacts in the Android "People"-App.

Actually I had just figured it out... the instructions were kinda vague; didn't know the instructions were referring to the sync settings in contacts of the phone itself (NOT facebook). after that, it's pretty easy.
I'm working on letting the user decide the sync frequency. But there is another problem which has higher priority right now, for some users, it doesn't sync all friends. If anyone here has experienced this issue, I'd appreciate a log of the syncing progress (You can record logs with CatDroid on the Android Market.)
As soon as that is fixed, I'll work on limiting battery and data consumption
I purchased it. Great app. So you gotta bring all the Facebook contacts in huh? You can't limit it to just the people you have in your phone already (like all older phones allowed you to do)?
I'm interested in this app, however I want to hear more feedback about it. I currently use friendcaster for this same thing. However friendcaster doesn't download hi-res images. The only thing is I don't want to manually merge 200+ contacts again. If there's an auto-merge feature then I would try it.
Has anyone tried syncing, then going to gmail (on the computer) and there is feature to "look for duplicates" and try merging that way? I am about to try this, I will report back.
i live in mexico and wanted to buy this app but i couldnt or is it that is only for ICS? im under checkrom with a samsung galaxy s2... do i need to wait for the update to 4.0???

Motorola does it. I still have my bionic and it has all of my facebook friends, their pictures, and their phone numbers and email addresses that they have published. There is a sync option called facebook on that phone.
Maybe they worked it out with FB in some fashion, whether that was a call/email/form, or maybe lengthy negotiations or a cost.
How they worked it out, I really don't care. I'm just saying that it's been done, and it's a feature that I used all the time. A good example is when a friend gets a new mobile number, and updates FB. It syncs and if I call them, I would have never known they updated to a new number, but the call would of worked.
I'm just saying that there's a way, and it's been done.

Facebook probably added the feature themselves when they were allowed to sync info onto android phones, but since they are blocked by google now the feature is probably also blocked.

I just wiped my bionic and added the FB sync again... worked perfectly.

You can't combine them under options? PITA if it works this way.
Great, it syncs pictures, gotta love that.
Still waiting for a method to sync up pics/phone/email. I forgot about a girl in my contacts that I used to rely on prior syncs on many prior phones. Had to log into bookface to just get that phone number, ugh.
Purchased it, downloaded and installed it, yet it was nowhere to be found on my phone. Not on the homescreens or in the app drawer. So I refunded/uninstalled it so that I could re install it. Now the market wont let me purchase it again. It has a button for install but then tells me "you have not purchased this"

I installed HaxSync and it ran, but only half my contacts were synced and the ones that were still had extremely low resolution pictures. How do I get the high res pictures and how do I manually sync the other half of my contacts?

I thought this was an issue with android 4.0 which is why we are having to find alternate ways to sync contacts to the people app. If ur bionic was updated to android 4.0, I'm guessing the feature you mention above would no longer work. I read somewhere that an exception was made for fb sync early on and finally closed in 4.0. Some people say its bc of google+, but I think google said its bc they want mobile information where contacts can be imported and exported freely. Facebook only wants one way. They don't want contact info exported or something like that

You don't understand. On other OEM phones with skins (Sense, Blur, TW) they worked with Facebook to allow them to sync the other info much like how it worked on all Android until GB. Google themselves WILL NOT on any phone they have direct control over. There will not be a fix for that on the GN until Google and Facebook come to terms again.

ThEoRy36O: do you still experience problems with the latest version? (1.4.4?) If yes, can you send me a log of your syncing process? (recorded via CatLog, available in the market) I'll identify and fix the issue ASAP.
I think it's that I'm syncing by phone number only. I'm afraid of having to combine duplicate contacts. Is there an easy way of doing this or am I just being a fraidy cat?
I'm not able to download from the Market -- I get to "preparing" (before "Accept & Buy") and then I get "Error: An error occurred. Please try again." Have rebooted phone, my signal is fine, plenty of space on Nexus, etc. Suggestions?
I just tried this. This app works PERFECTLY for me. Thanks Mots! I have it syncing only every 7 days, the pics are high res and all of my contacts syncd. I was disappointed at first when I saw that it imported ALL of my FB contacts (rather than the ones only already in my contacts which I am used to) but they are easily hidden by displaying only those contacts in my Google contacts!
