Auto rotate of menu and home screens?
All my apps and browsers auto rotate but home screens and menus don't.. My old DROID rotated all day long.. Is this the way the nexus is? I if so is there a fix/mod?

It isn't the Nexus, it's Android.
The settings and homescreens didn't turn to landscape on my Droid 2 or Droid X.

Do you have to root? I thought Nova would rotate without being rooted?

I might be wrong, but I thought you need to be rooted to install Nova. If OP doesn't want to root, however, I believe a home replacement like Launcherpro or ADW would allow them to auto-rotate home screens.

Yes, 3rd party launchers do allow the home screens to rotate. I use go launcher since the developer abandoned launcher pro.

You don't have to be rooted to run Nova launcher, you just have to be rooted to use certain features of it. Like having the widget selection in the app drawer. I use it and I'm not rooted, it is a great launcher and free at that. I like it much better than adw ex but that's just my opinion.

Thanks for that. I've posted links to other forums before and the mods deleted them. I've never understood which are ok and which aren't.

Can I still get OTA updates if I use the not rooted version of Nova. This looks interesting and I want to try it.

Yes you'll still get updates. The launcher will have no effect on updates.
